"You must be so excited for the run tonight." My best friend and roommate, Amelia screamed into my ears for the umpteenth time that evening.
Amelia was my savior. She was the daughter of an Alpha, the second most feared Alpha in SilverCrest and who also happened to be good friends with Alpha Lorento, the most feared Alpha in SilverCrest and also Stormy Grey eyes father.
Amelia was the only girl Stormy grey eyes respected enough not to mess with. They were close friends too and they used to sit together at lunch until she decided to be sitting with me.
Like I said, Amelia was my savior. She wasn't in school when I resumed and the elite students were picking on me and making my life miserable but the minute she resumed and befriended me, a lowly orphaned omega from a wretched family, that was a loud warming for all the bullies to leave me alone.
And they all left me alone except stormy grey eyes who still picked on me once in a while.
Sometimes, I really didn't understand why Amelia would befriend someone like me because we were nothing alike. She was an alpha's daughter and most definitely the future Luna of a pack and I was just me.
A wretched Omega with the poorest abilities.
But she befriended me anyway. It took her resuming and realizing that I was her new roommate for her to completely take me in and treat me like I was her long-lost twin sister.
She wasn't proud like the other elite student. She has an outgoing personality and was friendly with everyone but she also could command grudging respect from the whole student body and that was why she was elected the school president.
"You'll meet your mate tonight," She continued and I felt my lips stretching into a smile. We were sitting opposite each other on my bed and she wouldn't stop teasing me about finding my mate tonight.
"I might not even find him tonight," I replied to her while trying to stop myself from smiling too hard but I failed.
"Just look at the way you're smiling," She teased me endlessly, "And says who that you won't find him tonight? The chances of you finding him are well above 70% since you're already 18."
Yes, that was true. Once we clock 18, we all participate in the full moon run to find our fated mates but then, only a few wolves find their mates within the first year, some even wait for as long as 4 years before they'll finally find their fated mates.
I just hope mine wasn't among the latter.
"Hey hey hey," Amelia waved her hand frantically in front of me, "Don't start to look gloomy here oo, I'm sure you'll find your mate today. You know how my instincts are never wrong and I feel strongly that you'll find the one you've been waiting for today."
"Yes," I replied to her, trying to look on the brighter side of things, "I hope so too."
"Don't worry, it's all sorted out. God!" She screamed out of nowhere, "I can't wait. Do you think your mate will be a student of this school? I mean, you've been feeling this attraction towards Axel since you joined Wolf Academy, who knows if he'll end up being your fated mate?"
I felt the color pink rise in my neck and face at her words. I've had a huge crush on Axel forever. He was one of the students who has never been mean to me. On the contrary, he had always been nice to me and he has spoken a total of 17 words to m and they were:
I noticed that you're a fan of Full House so I saved this new edition for you.
And he had handed me a copy of the latest edition of Full House that day in the library. He never spoke to me after then but he was always smiling at me, always doing all these nice gestures like holding the door for me and he even tied my shoelace for me twice during sport.
I wasn't sure if they were just harmless gestures but all those gestures made me start fantasizing about him as the perfect mate and now, my crush on him had almost developed into a full-blown obsession.
I was now desperate to have him as my mate.
"I should get ready," I told Amelia as I stood to my feet and she stood with me too and she held my hands.
"I'll be waiting for the good news."
"Hopefully."
*************
A couple of hours later, I was standing at the pathway of the wolf forest where most of the full moon runs in SilverCrest take place.
There were wolves all around me, some in their wolf and others in their human forms, both old and young wolves.
I was still in my human form, waiting for the whistle to go off, and just before it went off, I muttered a quick prayer to the Moon Goddess.
Let it be tonight. Let me find my mate tonight. Let him be my prince charming, let him completely sweep me off my feet.
And immediately the whistle went off, my bones changed and rearranged and I was soon on all fours, shaking out my furs as I fully transformed into my wolf form, my body welcoming the new sensation of bliss and peace as I tore through the trees and I made a run for it.
Shortly after the run started, I wanted to keep running forward but my legs seemed to have developed a mind of their own because they keep going another way and then, I started to feel it.
A change in the air. It wasn't creepy or anything. Instead, it was almost intoxicating and calming and yet energizing, making my pulse quicken with an energy I didn't know I could possess.
And then, there was the smell, it hit me in my nostril, something delicious and addictive, like the sweetest scent I've ever smelt. It was all too much, filling my nostrils up as it smelt of happy places and comfort and that was when I realized that my wolf had been running in the direction of the scent, that I didn't have any control because the scent kept pulling me, drawing me in and I was so desperate to find the source of the scent that I was running on pure endorphin and adrenaline.
Was that mate? Was I finally going to meet the man I've been fantasizing about since I was 10?
The scent was now everywhere, I couldn't tell where it was coming from because it seemed like it was all around me and I looked around frantically, desperate to be put out of my mystery by finding out the direct source of the scent.
Then I sensed it before I saw it, a beautiful wolf, the most beautiful wolf I've ever seen, standing in front of a huge tree and assessing me just like I was assessing him. There was a change in the air, something electrifying was going on and there was a pull, a gravity so strong that my wolf moved ahead just like the other wolf moved ahead too till we were almost facing to face, and in that instant, I knew just who he was.
My happiness couldn't be contained as the air around me changed as my wolf recedes and changes came over me with my bones rearranging and my human form taking over. I crouched on the floor and I noticed that the other wolf had changed too with my heart hammering in my chest.
Something was terribly wrong. I could feel it just like I could feel the pull between us just as my vision sharpens to take in the features of the wolf before me.
I started with a face and I was instantly met by a pair of familiar eyes.
Stormy grey eyes.
I took two mismatched steps back.
This can't be right. This can't be possible. He couldn't possibly be my mate. Out of all the guys out there, the guy that had always treated me as if I was no better than trash couldn't be my mate.
"No way," I muttered, shaking my head, "No way, it can't... Anyone but you."
He smirked, the corners of his lips curving into his signature smirk as his eyes raked over me from head to toe, with an expression I couldn't decipher and the look suddenly made me conscious of my body.
Of the fact that I was completely naked with my long hair barely covering my boobs.
And it also suddenly made me conscious of the fact that he was naked too and my eyes, developed a mind of their own by roaming over his entire body and settling on the huge and long thing between his legs.
I looked away instantly, with my pulse racing.
He smirked again and when my eyes met his, I knew he must have caught me looking at him.
Then he muttered the one word I've alas longer to hear but now hated it when it came out of his mouth.
"Mate."
Since I clocked 10, I've been thinking about who my fated mate would be.I've been thinking about how the moment I find him would be.I've been thinking about how he'd completely sweep me off my feet, how our love story would be like one written in the stars, and how I'd be over the moon. How everything would be perfect. How our love story would be perfect. How it'd be a story that was written in the stars and had been ordained by the moon goddess. But everything I have always envisaged just went down the drain. It just shattered completely with no form of remedy.Because now, my mate had turned out to be the last person I ever thought it would be.Stormy Grey Eyes. The one person I could not bring myself to tolerate. To every other person, he was Alpha Tyler, Prince of the Moon Shine Pack, son to the most feared alpha in SilverCrest, and he's on his way to inheriting the position of the general commander of SilverCrest. But to me, he was just stormy grey eyes, a handsome devil who sl

I woke up to the sound of gargling and guttural groans.I sat up with a sitting, my senses going overdrive. I was in the locker. I had escaped to the locker because I absolutely hated calculus and I'd rather sleep or daydream about my future mate than sit for an hour in a class that I hated. But now I couldn't daydream in peace because some students were making use of the locker room in that popular way students were notorious of.I pushed myself off the chair that had been serving as my bed and I started to tiptoe to the door, wary of attracting the attention of the students that were making out. I was almost at the door when my clumsy self missed my footings and I landed on the floor with a loud thud.I had to bite my lips to keep myself from screaming out loud at the searing pain that tore through my entire body and my head instantly whirled towards the direction of the couple to see if they'd been alerted of my presence. My eyes met stormy grey ones as I came face to face with the
