Chapter 2 His Kindness

Samarah's Pov

I wiped my hands that were wet from washing the dishes onto the handkerchief and happened to glance at the time.

7:45 am.

Damn it! I'm late!

I hurriedly went upstairs and took a bath at the fastest speed and changed my clothes. I didn't even have the time to comb my wet hair and just tied it in a bun before I took out my black-framed glasses, then grabbed my bag before I left the house.

Since I don't have a car, I only rely on the bus to send me to school. However, because it was already past seven-thirty, the bus had already departed.

I caught my breath and sat on the chair while waiting for the second bus. I couldn't help but massage my temple.

I'm already late. How unlucky could I have become!

After waiting for almost twenty minutes, the second bus had arrived, and I hurriedly got in.

When I arrived in front of my class, I was hesitant to grab the handle of the door and open it.

I took a deep breath and braced myself for their teasing remarks as I hung my head down and softly greeted our professor.

"I'm sorry, I'm late, Prof. Ann."

"Miss Samarah! Look at what time it is now! You've missed an hour of the lesson already! I already forgave you and listened to your excuses for why you were late before, but you've done it again! Are you trying to rebel now because you've always got good grades?!" I heard Professor Ann angrily shouting in front of the class while pointing her fingers at me.

I bit my lower lip and I felt my cheeks heat up.

"I... It won't happen again, Prof. Ann. I sincerely apologize..." I softly muttered without looking at them.

Even without raising my head to look at them, I could feel their gazes that could burn a hole in me.

I heard my classmates snickering and some of them were trying to suppress their mocking laugh, making me tremble from embarrassment.

How I wish the floor right now would open up and eat me alive.

"She's such an attention seeker. Too arrogant because she had good grades." I could hear my stepmother's remarks while laughing along with my classmates.

I closed my eyes and pursued my lips, trying not to listen to their work. Anyway, this is not new to me already... I should get used to this...

I felt my eyes reddening, and I clenched my fist, thinking that if Havoc was one of the people who was laughing right now, it would be the death of me.

But Havoc is nice. I'm sure he isn't laughing at me right now.

I gently raised my head and looked in the direction where Havoc usually sits and saw that it was empty.

The lump in my throat had been removed, making me sign in relief.

"What are you smiling for?! You think that I'm a joke to you?!" I snapped back when I heard Professor Ann angrily yelling with a reddened face. She glared at me and shouted while pointing at the door. "Get out and leave!"

Sensing that she was furious this time and if I stayed there, she might mark my grades as failed, I hurriedly left the class, ignoring the mocking laughter of my classmates.

I felt slightly relieved that Havoc wasn't there to witness my foolishness, otherwise I wouldn't have been face to face with him anymore.

I took a deep breath and went to the rooftop to hide for a while, while waiting for my next class. Anyway, I wasn't afraid of missing my class today, since I already knew the material and if I knew that I didn't, I could learn it right away. It's never been a problem for me.

The rooftop had been my secret hideout. Since I don't have friends because people would flock towards my stepsister and would rather watch me make a fool of myself, the rooftop is the only place I feel safe and comfortable.

"Samarah?"

I paused and looked up.

My eyes widened when I saw Havoc, who was standing on the rooftop with cigarettes in between his fingers.

My heart thumped and bowed at him. "I... I'm sorry, I didn't know!"

After that, I hurriedly turned around and almost staggered while I was trying to leave.

I heard his chuckle, making my cheeks heat up. I hurriedly walked away, but before I could leave, he called.

"Samarah." His deep voice that called my name, almost leaving me breathless.

I felt my legs weaken as I stopped moving. Instead, I faced him with embarrassment and shyness.

"I... Is there something wrong, A-Alpha Havoc?" I softly asked as I watched him approach towards me, making my breath hitch.

"I didn't tell you to leave. You can use the rooftop with me." He said while chuckling, making my cheeks redden from embarrassment.

I nodded my head and followed him to the rooftop.

I was fidgeting while looking at the view in front of me, trying hard not to look at him.

I suddenly heard him ask, "Why do you keep on looking down whenever you encounter people when you have those beautiful sunset eyes?"

My heart thumped. I couldn't help but look at him in the eyes and got the courage to ask.

’D... Do you hate me?" I softly asked, and after I realized it, I hurriedly shook my head and was about to apologize again when I heard him say.

"Why would I hate you?" He countered, leaving me stunned.

I could feel my heart beating fast as my cheeks reddened. I looked up at him and asked, "D... Do you have a girlfriend?"

He looked at me and his brows furrowed. "Thalia didn't tell you that we are lovers?"

I paused and shook my head. "N... No."

He and Thalia were lovers?

I pursed my lips and was about to speak when I saw him press the bud of the cigarette.

He, then, looked at me and gently smiled. "I would appreciate it if you would act as if we don't know each other. Don't lightly approach me, especially if there are tons of people watching."

After he said that, he turned around and left.

I paused and couldn't help but to remember the way he smiled at me.

'He smiled at you! It was a gentle smile!' I could hear the excitement coming from my wolf, making me smile.

I bit my lower lip and suppressed my smiles upon remembering the way Havoc looked at me.

Maybe Havoc was just being forced to be with Thalia, since he had always been pestered by his family about marriage and mates.

Yes! That must be!

I could feel my heart race even more just by thinking about it.

When the class was over, and I couldn't properly concentrate on the class because of Havoc's gentle smile that keeps appearing in my head, I let out a sigh of relief after hearing that it was over.

I was about to leave when I saw Havoc. The smiles on my lips couldn't be hidden anymore. However, it dropped when I saw him embracing Thalia.

I suppressed the bitterness that wallowed in my heart and was about to leave without looking at them when suddenly I heard Havoc's voice, calling my name.

"You're here. Perfect timing, we're looking for the last member to join our club." He said while smiling at me, making my heart thump again.

I was about to nod my head when I saw Thalia's death glare, making me flinch. If I said yes right now, she would probably make my life like a living hell more than it is.

I looked at Havoc and shook my head. "I... I'm sorry, I can't."

Before I left, I heard Thalia blame Havoc. "Why do you keep on approaching that freak stepsister of mine?! Do you like her, huh?!"

"Calm down, Thalia, there's no way that Alpha Havoc would like someone like her." I heard Thalia's friend say, making me walk faster.

I don't want to hear what Havoc might say regarding it. I'm afraid that he might agree with Thalia's friend's words.

After all, there's nothing likable about me.

When I was walking, I could feel their disgust towards me. Some of them even covered their noses and whispered towards each other while looking at me.

I pursed my lips and walked even faster without looking ahead.

I ended up crashing onto someone's shoulder, making me stagger. My body trembled as I looked at him in guilt.

"I... I'm sorry..."

He seemed to be one of my male classmates. I saw him smiling and shaking his head.

I was about to sigh in relief and leave, when I saw him approach me, making me pause.

"I... Is there something else?" I timidly asked.

I saw the corner of his lips raised and smirked. "You don't have a club, don't you? I'll let you join my club only if you're willing to serve me with you..." he looked at my body and licked his lower lip. "...body."

Terrified, I hurriedly ran away without looking back even after hearing his laughter.

Looking back, I happen to meet Havoc's eyes. I saw him smiling at me, causing the uncomfortable feeling from earlier to disappear.

I pursed my lips and averted my gaze. I couldn't understand why Alpha Havoc was being nice to me when his girlfriend, Thalia, hated me deeply.

It had to be a prank! They must be conspiring with each other to make fun of me!

I pressed my lips together and couldn't help but feel disheartened.

'Don't think too much. Anyway, tomorrow is your special day.' My wolf consoled me, making my spirits lift.

Right, tomorrow is my big day!

I couldn't wait for tomorrow's transformation to happen!

With that, I went back home filled with anticipation.
