Chapter Ninety-Three - The Search for Owen

Ella's POV

I paced the floor of my chambers restlessly, unable to focus on anything but the devastating confession Kristy had revealed earlier today.

My former best friend, the girl I had trusted most in this world, had betrayed me in the worst possible way.

She had conspired with my mortal enemy, the vile River, leading to my abduction and the murder of our beloved healer Dalia.

I still felt nauseous recalling Kristy's tearful words, now she apologises and claims she was blinded by jealousy. As if that excused her unforgivable treachery!

A knock at the door interrupted my brooding. I called for them to enter, unsurprised when Aiden slipped inside. My mate's handsome face was grim, mirroring my own churning emotions.

"How are you holding up, my moon?" He enfolded me in his strong embrace, and I let the steady comfort of his arms ground my scattered thoughts.
