Selenar's POV
This wasn't the first time Xander had behaved like this. On many nights, I could vaguely sense him waking up in the middle of the night and sitting beside me without saying a word. Every time I woke up and looked at him, I could see the intense hatred in his amber eyes. "It's nothing," Xander said coldly, giving me a look before putting on his pajamas and stepping aside. Like a child who had done something wrong, I seemed to notice Xander's abnormality. Immediately afterward, I propped myself up with my arms and prepared to get out of bed. "Don't put on such a pathetic face. I don't need your concern," he snapped as I reached for a glass on the nightstand. "Xander, I'm just..." I froze in place for a moment, holding my glass of water and feeling overwhelmed. At that moment, the straps of my silk nightgown slipped down, exposing a large expanse of my chest in the moonlight from the window. Xander's gaze lingered briefly before he turned to look out the window. I blushed scarlet and rushed to lift my straps with my free hand, forgetting I still held the glass. Snap! The cup hit the floor, and crystal shards scattered everywhere. "Damn. You can't even manage a simple task," Xander whispered, glancing at me indifferently. "I'm sorry..." I began to explain, but when I met Xander's icy eyes, I chose to remain silent and started cleaning up the shards on the ground. Just then, Xander received a phone call. I looked up curiously. "Xander, sorry to bother you so late. I just have something I need to trouble you with. Is it convenient for you right now?" A sweet voice came from the other end of the phone. It was Lisandra from the Silver Moon Pack. Ever since Xander and I became mates, he had changed drastically. The once gentle and warm-hearted person had become perverse and rough, and his eyes that once looked at me with love were now filled with hatred. I didn't know what caused this change, but from that point on, Xander seemed to enjoy inflicting pain on me, and Lisandra's appearance was part of it. After all, no woman could accept her mate being shared by someone else. I subconsciously frowned at the sound of Lisandra's voice. "What is it?" Xander replied calmly. "There's someone who's been following me on my way back from outside, and just now I heard what seemed to be some commotion outside. I'm a little scared right now, and I was wondering if you could come over and keep me company." Lisandra's voice sounded a little panicked, but I knew in my heart that it was just something she made up. Hearing Lisandra's words, Xander fell into a brief silence. I pursed my lips and looked at Xander, silently praying he wouldn't choose to leave me at this moment. But when I met Xander's cold eyes, I knew the answer. "Okay, I'm on my way." Any move that made me uncomfortable was exactly the kind of move that gave Xander pleasure. Xander hung up and began to change. I subconsciously prepared to get up and talk him down, but I ignored the crystal shard I had just broken. "Hiss!" The crystal shard lodged into my palm, and blood immediately flowed out. I cried out as I felt the pain. Xander turned around quickly at the sound, and I saw a hint of concern in his eyes, which gave me hope. "Can you not go?" I asked, biting my lip lightly and hesitating a little inside, but eventually mustering up the courage to look up at Xander. "Do I need your permission to do anything now?" Xander quickly put away his concern, and his icy eyes fell back on my face, making me wonder if I had just been mistaken. But for some reason, I still felt like Xander cared about me. There seemed to be a barrier between us for no apparent reason; all the beauty and warmth that had once been there was blocked away, and no matter how hard I tried, it never seemed to return. "That's not true. I just think it's a little inappropriate for you, the Alpha of a pack, to be at another woman's home at this late hour." A pang of indifference ran through me at the thought. After getting up from the ground, I clenched my teeth and gathered the courage to raise my head and stare at Xander. But when Xander saw me in this state, the corner of his mouth curled up in mockery. "It seems that I was still too merciful to you, so much so that by now you forget who you are now." Xander stepped in front of me, then picked up my chin with his finger and shook his head gently. "Don't forget that you come from a lowly pack. If I hadn't taken pity on you, you and your father's pack would have been annexed by the other packs long ago," Xander finished, ignoring my reaction. He then turned around, ready to leave. "So why did you choose me in the first place? Did you need me to live like a slave for you to be happy?" I questioned as I stood up, despite the blood still dripping from my wound. "Yes, you guessed it right. The more upset you are, the happier I am." The corner of Xander's mouth lifted into a cruel smile as he pulled on his jacket. "Xander, I don't understand what's happening between us. Where has the person you once were gone? If I've done anything wrong, tell me and I'll make it right," I said, looking at Xander's back, a sour warmth welling up inside me. "Cut the useless crap. When I want to tell you, you'll realize where you went wrong. For now, just remember who you are. You're just a tool for my pleasure." Xander turned his head and stared at me coldly, no emotion in his eyes. "Xander, you're not being fair. What gives you the right to treat me like this?" I looked at Xander with indignation, standing up and walking towards him. "Have you said enough? I should go be with Lisandra now." Xander's impatience was clear as he glanced at me before heading towards the front door. "You're not allowed to go!" I don't know where I found the courage, but I charged straight towards Xander. "ROAR!" Offended by my move, the wolf inside him let out an intimidating growl, causing me to freeze in place. The sudden stop made me lose my balance, and I fell hard to the ground, my palm landing on the shards of the water cup. The wound that was just about to heal reopened, and blood flowed out immediately. Xander just watched quietly without any action. "Don't play pitiful. Do what you need to do." After saying that, Xander left, closing the door heavily, leaving me alone and in pain in the empty room.Selena's POVAfter a sleepless night, I waited for the sky outside my window to slowly brighten before getting up to prepare for my hospital checkup. Recently, I've been experiencing abnormal pain in my body, which intensified after Xander left me. Perhaps it's due to our bond; as Xander's hatred for me grows, my body seems to suffer along with it.Additionally, I occasionally give Lisandra blood transfusions at Xander's request because Lisandra's body is weaker. Of course, this is a way for the two of their packs to strengthen their relationship, but it's at my expense. The hospital's attending doctor, Liam, was my former senior and had always taken care of me when I was in medical school. When he heard about my health problems, he was the first to contact me to check the results at the hospital."How long has this been going on?" Liam asked seriously as he held the test report in the hospital corridor.I hung my head and nervously rubbed my fingers back and forth on my satchel, avo
Selena's POV On the way home, I feel like a walking corpse among the various pedestrians. There were housewives rushing home to cook dinner, fathers waiting to pick up their children from kindergarten, cheerful girls with flowers in hand at the bus stop, and a family of three taking a post-dinner stroll. Like any ordinary person, they may have their own troubles, but it's undeniable that they all hold expectations for life, believing in a brighter future. Yet, my own life feels almost at its end—broken family, wrong lover, and now even my own life nearly extinguished. Perhaps the moon goddess sensed my grief because suddenly, with a howling wind, raindrops the size of beans poured down. The icy rain mixed with the scent of damp earth slapped hard against my body, but no matter how cold the rain was, it couldn't match the coldness in my heart. I walked alone down the street, letting the rain soak me, then made my way back home in a daze. As I reached the door, I heard a low moa
Xander's POVI stood in the room, casting a cold gaze at Selena lying on the floor. Her face was pale, and a glint of pain flickered in her eyes, but it seemed to me that it was merely a façade."Selena, do you think you can gain my mercy by pretending to be sick?" My voice dripped with unusual coldness and obvious disdain.Selena didn't answer; she simply closed her eyes, lacking the strength to speak."Whatever. I don't have time for your act." I shrugged off her condition and gestured with my eyes toward Lisandra, who sat beside me, signaling her to leave."Looks like Selena is still in good health," Lisandra remarked with a mocking smile before tightening her hold on me. She rubbed her ample breasts against my arm as she walked, shooting me a wink. It was evident she was unsettled by Selena's interruption earlier."Let's go." I shot a final look at Selena sprawled on the floor before pulling Lisandra into the car with me."Xander, I haven't had my treatment yet today. I'm still fe
Selena's POVI felt like I was in a dark chaos, as if there were a thick cloud around me, preventing me from seeing the road ahead. In this empty space, there was no sound, only a dead silence surrounding me. Suddenly, I seemed to be back in the bustling hospital corridors, with patients of various expressions passing by me, all looking expressionless. They all seemed to have had their souls taken from them, dragging their heavy bodies in the same direction. I tried to see the path ahead, but the corridor ended in a thick mass of darkness, and all the people who entered it made no sound or struggle; everything was eerily in motion.I clenched my lips, trying to resist joining them. But as if my body was out of control, I followed the others as they slowly advanced towards the depths of the darkness. A great sense of fear wrapped around me, and I opened my mouth wide in an attempt to cry out, but to my despair, I couldn't make a sound no matter how hard I tried. The sound of footst
Selena's POVThe night was silent, and when I woke up again, I realized that Xander was nowhere to be found in the empty room. I struggled to get out of bed, feeling the pain in my chest intensify. Earlier, before coming back from the hospital, I had refused Liam's offer of a simple painkiller. I still felt a little groggy and touched my forehead absently, finding it hot as hell."Crap," I sighed softly to myself. Maybe it was yesterday's rain shower that caused this sickness. My throat was dry, and I was short of breath. Just sitting on the edge of the bed made me feel like I was about to collapse."Xander was right. You always look for an excuse to be lazy. Get up and scrub the floor."A disgusting figure suddenly appeared in the doorway. Lisandra was leaning against the doorframe with her arms folded, looking at me with contempt."What?" The fever made my mind a little foggy, and I frowned at Lisandra."Why are you pretending again? Can't you remember who you are, you lowly woman?
Selena's POV"Stop... stop!"Sensing the situation spiraling out of control, I frantically covered my chest. Xander showed no intention of stopping; his pupils slowly contracted with greed as he surveyed my body.My voice trembled, but Xander's face remained expressionless. He playfully surveyed me, gently licking his dry lips, as if he'd just heard an erotic joke."Would anyone stop me from doing what I need to do with my own woman?" Xander spoke softly."I'm going to reject you!"Seeing my threats were futile, I repeated myself."That's funny."Xander's eyes filled with laughter. He lay on top of me, his rough breath invading my space. I could feel his chiseled stomach pressing against my chest. Though I wanted to look at his lips, I dismissed the thought.Without hesitation, Xander straddled me, and as he lowered his head, I felt my nipples harden. Xander noticed and covered my breasts with his wide palms, rubbing them vigorously without mercy."No, don't."I struggled to stop him,
Selena's POVThe cold war between Xander and me lasted for days, and Xander literally stopped bringing me food as he had shown. After a few days of starvation, my body seemed to reach its limit, and it felt like there was an endless abyss in my stomach craving sustenance.I realized I would starve to death if I continued like this, and the wolf inside me wailed weakly over and over again. However, my poor self-esteem kept me going because I didn't want to be like before, when the point of every day was to be a tail-wagging dog around Xander.Just as I was thinking that, a loud noise suddenly came from the doorway. Before I could react, I heard a loud boom, and the door to my room was kicked open from the outside. A tall and cold figure appeared in front of me."Drag her out of here. I don't want anyone dying on my turf; it's bad luck," Xander said, his eyes flashing with a hint of contempt. He waved his hand, and the dutiful werewolf soldiers on either side rushed over to grab me and
Selena's POVI thought about just walking away and not having to look Xander in the eye anymore, but the consequences of that might actually be what Xander said. My father's pack would fall apart overnight. I didn't doubt for a second that Xander had the power to do that. And I'd been living this groveling life with the ultimate goal of just wanting the best for my pack. So for the sake of the pack, I had to drop the high profile I had just taken and admit my mistake to Xander. Once this thought surfaced in my mind, all those sufferings and pains I once endured haunted my body like maggots in my wound, causing my soul to tremble."You did this?" I took a deep breath and turned my head to look at Xander. "Do I have to report everything I do to you now?" Xander gave me a cold look, a sneer on his lips. "It's fine for you to target me, but why target my father? What exactly did he do to piss you off?" I clenched my teeth and grimaced as I responded to Xander. "You're not even quali
