(Laura’s POV)

.

Morning arrived and I felt a strong thumping pain from inside of my skull. My body felt weak and my mind was still a little light headed. “How much did I drink last night? What happened?”

I rolled to the side and covered my face with the quilt as the sun was shining bright on my face, “Urgh! Can someone please pull the curtains shut! Raya!”

I shouted my helper’s name a few time in hope that I can sleep the rest of the day, in darkness. It was the weekends and I planned to stay at home to sleep over my hangover from last night.

The memories of what had happened at dinner last night came slowly in. I moaned to the memory of kissing Vincent at the garden and blushed red at the memory of kissing Vincent at the washroom.

Then, reality hit me. “No, No, No! This can’t happen. I can’t let Vincent back in my life”

“Phone.. Phone..” I searched my bed side table with my hand with only one eye open. I could not find it. “Raya! Where are you?”

It felt like everyone had abandoned me

(Laura’s POV).An hour later, I sat at the dining table of my home which was probably the only place that had less flowers filling the hall. There were sent by both Vincent and Calvin. I felt suffocated by too many flowers surrounding me. Love them but also annoyed with them.“More soup?” Raya asked and poured me a glass of water. She had helped me with the bath and for a moment I felt like my mother was there with me. It was especially when Raya sang me a song that my mother would sing to me when she knew I needed her to comfort me away from my sorrows.“Thanks, Raya. If God had sent me an angel, I think it is you” I smiled at her and drank my soup straight from the bowl. She chuckled and shook her head, “This angel is getting old and wish that one day she would still be alive to care for your children”“Raya! You just spoil my moment in peace” I rolled my eyes and wrinkled my nose to her, “I have not found the right man to marry”“Really? Not even the ones that had sent you those f

(Laura’s POV).“I have known you half of my life. Seen your worst side. And we are still the best of friends. Shoot. Tell me. I’m ready to hear your darkest secret” I said to her with my eager eyes and happy face. This better be good.“Alright. Back when we were in high school. Senior year. I was offered money to do some part time job. I needed that as that was the time when my father’s business was not doing well and he had cut a large part of my allowances” she took a deep breath before continuing her story which I was very much interested in.“I did not tell you back then. I lied to you saying, well, I was helping up with my father’s business. You remembered that moment when I went missing at night to work?” Marie bit her lips looking worried.“Yes, eventually your father’s business went good again. It was just a short phase, Marie. What happened back then?” Something made me feel she lied to me about helping her father back then. I was feeling a little nervous.“Well” she wet her

(Vincent’s POV).I waited for her to reply to my messages. It had been two days since I last spoke to her at the dinner held by her ever so annoying gold digger uncles. I could understand now on why she did not like them much, especially her cousin Carla Knight who had been trying to contact me for lunch, even when I had return back to Emerald City.It seemed that even Calvin did not hear from Laura. She was shutting us both away and I was starting to get worried.“Is she angry at me?” I sighed and thought I was so close in getting her to forgive me. “Perhaps, she was angry that I fought with her brother”I sighed again at how stupid I was for not knowing Doctor Henry Moore was her half-brother. It was a known fact which I should have read more about him.“I will make sure I get to know her other brother, Liam Knight. I must not repeat the same mistake again with Henry” I was taking to myself in my office while standing near my floor to ceiling large window overlooking the city.“Vin

As he caught her tongue in his mouth, Vincent pulled the back of her head closer

Valentino Verdi and Tara Winters were like opposite attraction. One was cold and ruthless with the other one was sweet and adorable. Their only son Vincent may not like them but I surely did. There was nothing not to love about my ex-mother in law, Tara.“Do you remember what day is today, Vincent?” I asked smiling and I knew he had forgotten about it.“Is this a trick question?” he frowned while moving to park his car at a large garage filled with luxurious car. His father was a car collector.“It’s your parent’s wedding anniversary” I said and looked around the garage which looked like it was recently refurbished.“You remembered?” he shut down the engine and sat back for a moment. “Do we need to get them anything?”I shook my head and took something out from my bag to show him, “I got her something”He smiled at me and I loved seeing his deep sexy dimples,

At times he smiled at me while serving the dishes on my plate without me even asking him to do so.That was sweet of him.His father and stepmother were looking at us and I could see they had the look in their eyes wondering if we were indeed back together. I had not answer for that at that moment. Everything had happened so fast between Vincent and I. I needed time to think. At one point, he could not even look at me. Then now, he looked at me as if I was the most precious gem in the room. Why was that?“I have prepared some desserts in the kitchen. Could you help me with it, Julia?” Tara closed her mouth for mistakenly called me Julia, “I’m sorry, I need to get used to calling you Laura now”“Sure, I’ll help you” I smiled and saw Vincent nodded at me for approval. Papa is waiting”I instructed the kitchen helpers to carry the tray of desserts and drinks out. They certainly look delicious.Tara nodded and smiled at me. For years, I had hated her. Tried hating her. Wanting to hate her. But, Tara was just too nice of a woman. The look of her angry eyes at me after knowing I had read her diary was piercing my soul. Her beautiful blue eyes were on fire.I raised both of my hands in a surrender mode and said, “I can explain. You need to calm down. Not good for our babies that you are carrying. Your stress level needs to be managed”What the hell was I rambling about? (Laura’s POV).A month has passed. Time had moved so swiftly and my pregnant belly was starting to show.Vincent was true to his words, being by my side taking care of me and my constant need of attention. I blamed it on my pregnancy hormones. I was never like this, wanting him by my side most of the time.It had been a challenging process with me having nausea and sensitivity of things around me. I had even lost some weight as my body was rejecting some food, even those that I used to like to eat.“How are you feeling, sweetheart?” Vincent said and lifted my chin to give me a brief kiss on my lips. We were walking towards the place where we first met. A little ice cream shop in Tuscany where I had first saved him from being hit by a motorcycle. The place where I fell in a nearby ditch, stuck for almost an hour until my brother, Henry came to the rescue. There was nothing else to see except for the cars on the road stuck with them in the traffic.“Do you love him? (Laura’s POV).I took steps slowly back as I saw Cherry coming closer to me. There was blood on her clothes which I thought most likely may not be hers. She looked fine, or was she pretending to look fine?I did not know her well. A deceiving woman who seemed to fight for what she believed in. And I knew all that she believed in was her being the daughter of Lucas Knight and my half-sister.“Do you realised we kind of look alike?” she said with a smile showing her perfectly shaped teeth. It was kind of scary with her eyes looking at me as if I was an object of her admiration.“We have the same eyes. Different colour though. And your hair, look” she touched her hair with one hand, “It is the same colour as mine. Do you think people would believe we are actually related?”Was she kidding me? I knew Cherry made herself look like me. She was obsessed to be me.I opened my mouth to say something but she cut me off with her words, “Laura. You want to know the truth?” Cherry smiled and sang
