Chapter 3 You're not afraid I'll spike your drink

Somehow, Wade felt like his actions were being watched. He looked around, scanning the nightclub but couldn't find anything.

No one dares to walk into Castello like it was a supermarket. Castello was where crime and murder were a common thing. You could never know what tomorrow brings.

Even the FBI didn't dare to do anything against the Mafia. Ever since Wade took office, he had dedicated all his time to wiping out criminals.

Maybe he was overthinking. As soon as he stepped into the nightclub, there was a strange uneasy feeling in his chest.

Mark struck up a conversation with a girl and they began talking happily. The real reason Wade wanted to come here was because he was looking for someone. The previous chief had gave him information that they had a spy in Castello whom he could contact to help find Edward Mattson.

The spy had sent an anonymous text message to meet him in this nightclub. Wade figured that it would be better to meet with this spy than go straight to the pharmacy.

The place was crawling with criminals. As soon as Wade took a seat and ordered a beer, a few bulky men with tattoos on their arms glared at him like he was their prey.

At some times, Wade looked a little too innocent to be a cop which made many people misunderstood him. He still had the air of a cheerful youth.

Mark came back from his conversation with that girl and joked, "What a hottie. Next time I'll introduce you to some girls. Don't be jealous,"

"Who said I'm jealous?" Wade sipped his glass while his eyes scanned around for the spy. Hmm... The spy didn't show up. Could something have happened and there has been a change of plans?

"Come on! You haven't had a girlfriend in years! I know you had one in highschool but that was because she pestered you everyday. With your good looks and charm, I'm sure many girls would be falling at your feet," Mark laughed.

"Yeah, right," Wade only smiled. Because of his busy work life, he didn't had time for any romantic dates.

"It's so late....." Mark's eyes casually swept over the nightclub. What exactly were they waiting for?

Wade sighed and got up to move his limbs. A person came out of nowhere and bumped into Wade, causing him to lose his balance and knock into the bunch of fierce looking men at the opposite table.

"Oh, sorry," Wade apologized but the men didn't think so. One of them slammed a fist onto the table and stood up to his full height, towering over Wade.

Wade noticed the table had evident cracks on it. Oh, this man was sure strong as hell.

"Shit," Wade mumbled to himself. He knew he was in big trouble.

"Watch where you're going, pretty boy!" The muscular tattooed man growled.

He grabbed Wade by the collar. Wade didn't want any trouble so he tried to placate the man to the best of his abilities.

"Easy, man. Sorry, it was an accident," Wade put on a charming smile.

"Accident? You knock into my boss' table and you think you can get away with just a 'sorry'? Kneel down and kiss my boss' feet!" The tattooed man tightened his grip on Wade's collar, almost choking him.

"Hey, put him down! Stupid bastard, you just want trouble, right!?" Mark yelled from behind.

Suddenly all eyes were on them, asserting the two men. Many people watched them like waiting for a good show.

"He looks tiny compared to the other man. I don't think he'll stand a chance," A woman dressed in a shiny body hugging dress caressed her long nails fondly.

"Who cares? Let's watch a good show," her friend laughed.

Many people watched them with anticipation of a fight, some of them taunting and mocking Wade as they had nothing better to do.

Wade would like to fight against the tattooed man but he didn't want to reveal his identity, so he pretended to be meek.

"Sir, how about this? We go outside and talk. What do you say?" Wade signalled to Mark not to make a move.

"Let's TALK here," the tattooed man then lifted Wade off his feet, forcing him up into the air.

The tattooed proceeded to choke off Wade's air supply while demanding him to apologize.

Fine! He won't let people bully him! Wade gave up being docile and landed a kick to the man's stomach. However, the tattooed man had hard abs so his kick didn't do much damage. Wade was about to land another attack when a voice that sounded extremely cold pierced through the air.

"Put him down,"

The tattooed man turned and scowled. However when he saw the person, a chill ran up his spine and his lips began to quiver. Immediately, he recognized the man who stood on the right behind the one who spoke just now. That man was Albert, one of the Mafia King's trusted man.

Albert seemed to show a great amount of respect for the man in the middle. Then that means that the one in the middle was…

The tattooed man placed Wade down, whispered something to his boss. The boss' face changed expression and he started to tremble.

"Let's go!" The boss and his gang quickly left the nightclub

Wade coughed a few times and rubbed the spot where he was almost strangled. He almost revealed himself if someone didn't came and saved him!

He turned to the man who saved him and smiled gratefully, "Thanks for your help. How about I treat you to a drink?"

The man's eyes met with Wade's. He was a few years older than him. Those eyes were dark and deep, his gaze seemingly to bore a hole into Wade's soul as he stared at him. The man standing before him carried a dangerous yet alluring aura.

"A drink?"

When the man spoke, Wade felt his heart skipped a beat.

"You're not afraid I'll spike your drink, are you?" Wade joked and laughed.

"Go ahead. Take advantage of me. I would like to see who has the upper hand," the man smirked devilishly.
