Somehow, Wade felt like his actions were being watched. He looked around, scanning the nightclub but couldn't find anything.
No one dares to walk into Castello like it was a supermarket. Castello was where crime and murder were a common thing. You could never know what tomorrow brings.
Even the FBI didn't dare to do anything against the Mafia. Ever since Wade took office, he had dedicated all his time to wiping out criminals.
Maybe he was overthinking. As soon as he stepped into the nightclub, there was a strange uneasy feeling in his chest.
Mark struck up a conversation with a girl and they began talking happily. The real reason Wade wanted to come here was because he was looking for someone. The previous chief had gave him information that they had a spy in Castello whom he could contact to help find Edward Mattson.
The spy had sent an anonymous text message to meet him in this nightclub. Wade figured that it would be better to meet with this spy than go straight to the pharmacy.
The place was crawling with criminals. As soon as Wade took a seat and ordered a beer, a few bulky men with tattoos on their arms glared at him like he was their prey.
At some times, Wade looked a little too innocent to be a cop which made many people misunderstood him. He still had the air of a cheerful youth.
Mark came back from his conversation with that girl and joked, "What a hottie. Next time I'll introduce you to some girls. Don't be jealous,"
"Who said I'm jealous?" Wade sipped his glass while his eyes scanned around for the spy. Hmm... The spy didn't show up. Could something have happened and there has been a change of plans?
"Come on! You haven't had a girlfriend in years! I know you had one in highschool but that was because she pestered you everyday. With your good looks and charm, I'm sure many girls would be falling at your feet," Mark laughed.
"Yeah, right," Wade only smiled. Because of his busy work life, he didn't had time for any romantic dates.
"It's so late....." Mark's eyes casually swept over the nightclub. What exactly were they waiting for?
Wade sighed and got up to move his limbs. A person came out of nowhere and bumped into Wade, causing him to lose his balance and knock into the bunch of fierce looking men at the opposite table.
"Oh, sorry," Wade apologized but the men didn't think so. One of them slammed a fist onto the table and stood up to his full height, towering over Wade.
Wade noticed the table had evident cracks on it. Oh, this man was sure strong as hell.
"Shit," Wade mumbled to himself. He knew he was in big trouble.
"Watch where you're going, pretty boy!" The muscular tattooed man growled.
He grabbed Wade by the collar. Wade didn't want any trouble so he tried to placate the man to the best of his abilities.
"Easy, man. Sorry, it was an accident," Wade put on a charming smile.
"Accident? You knock into my boss' table and you think you can get away with just a 'sorry'? Kneel down and kiss my boss' feet!" The tattooed man tightened his grip on Wade's collar, almost choking him.
"Hey, put him down! Stupid bastard, you just want trouble, right!?" Mark yelled from behind.
Suddenly all eyes were on them, asserting the two men. Many people watched them like waiting for a good show.
"He looks tiny compared to the other man. I don't think he'll stand a chance," A woman dressed in a shiny body hugging dress caressed her long nails fondly.
"Who cares? Let's watch a good show," her friend laughed.
Many people watched them with anticipation of a fight, some of them taunting and mocking Wade as they had nothing better to do.
Wade would like to fight against the tattooed man but he didn't want to reveal his identity, so he pretended to be meek.
"Sir, how about this? We go outside and talk. What do you say?" Wade signalled to Mark not to make a move.
"Let's TALK here," the tattooed man then lifted Wade off his feet, forcing him up into the air.
The tattooed proceeded to choke off Wade's air supply while demanding him to apologize.
Fine! He won't let people bully him! Wade gave up being docile and landed a kick to the man's stomach. However, the tattooed man had hard abs so his kick didn't do much damage. Wade was about to land another attack when a voice that sounded extremely cold pierced through the air.
"Put him down,"
The tattooed man turned and scowled. However when he saw the person, a chill ran up his spine and his lips began to quiver. Immediately, he recognized the man who stood on the right behind the one who spoke just now. That man was Albert, one of the Mafia King's trusted man.
Albert seemed to show a great amount of respect for the man in the middle. Then that means that the one in the middle was…
The tattooed man placed Wade down, whispered something to his boss. The boss' face changed expression and he started to tremble.
"Let's go!" The boss and his gang quickly left the nightclub
Wade coughed a few times and rubbed the spot where he was almost strangled. He almost revealed himself if someone didn't came and saved him!
He turned to the man who saved him and smiled gratefully, "Thanks for your help. How about I treat you to a drink?"
The man's eyes met with Wade's. He was a few years older than him. Those eyes were dark and deep, his gaze seemingly to bore a hole into Wade's soul as he stared at him. The man standing before him carried a dangerous yet alluring aura.
"A drink?"
When the man spoke, Wade felt his heart skipped a beat.
"You're not afraid I'll spike your drink, are you?" Wade joked and laughed.
"Go ahead. Take advantage of me. I would like to see who has the upper hand," the man smirked devilishly.
"Uh…." Wade was speechless. Was this guy flirting with him?Mark came to his side and nudged Wade from behind, reminding him of their mission. "Thank you for saving my friend. We need to go. It's very late," Mark made up an excuse and tried to signal to Wade with his eyes. Something was wrong. Wade took heed of it and thanked the man again before heading to the door. "You're welcome. Come back again next time. What's your name?" The man asked, his eyes scanning Wade up and down lazily. "Wade," "Wade…." The way his name sounded off this mysterious man's lips sent a tingle up Wade's body. "Nice name. I could say it all day," the man chuckled, his dark eyes gazing at him intensely.Wade laughed awkwardly. No one had ever said such a thing to him. This man was probably just fooling around with him. Once they were out, Wade asked Mark about his findings. "The whole bar is creeping with crazy criminals. We were lucky we didn't get killed! That cute girl said she saw Edward Mattson f
"Ahhh! Who the hell are yo-" Wade jumped in fright. But when he saw the person who said it, he calmed down. When he saw the man looking at him with a smug expression, Wade quickly made an excuse. "I'm lost. S…so I'm looking for the exit,""Didn't you leave here hours ago? Why are you back again… ?" The man closed in on Wade, pausing in his sentence to scan Wade's clothing. "In a waiter's uniform?"Wade knew that his excuse has failed. What was he going to say? Was his identity blown? "Missed me that much?" The mysterious man smirked. "I..I..," Wade stuttered. With the way the man was looking at him, it looked as if he wanted to eat Wade up. "Why don't you guess what's my purpose here?" Wade decided to play it smart. From the looks of it, the mysterious man wasn't a simple person either. He could enter the highest floor of the nightclub and mingle with people like John Brandon, Wade began to suspect his identity. "Oh, let me guess then. Is there a prize if I guess it correctly?"
"My name is Vincenzo Luciano,"Luciano??!! T..that Luciano??!! He was actually the world's….Wade felt goosebumps crawling up his skin. Vincenzo Luciano, the world's most powerful and wanted criminal, the enigmatic Mafia King, the one who has many gangs working under him, the one whom the FBI and Interpol don't dare to touch, that Vincenzo Luciano?Double shit! Wade only knew one thing at this moment. He was screwed! In his head, Wade was cursing himself for being stupid and clumsy. How could he not know that was Vincenzo Luciano?! This Luciano guy was the one the previous police chief and FBI had been trying to catch. So this was the big criminal that everyone failed to catch? If he could catch him and put him behind bars, then at least half the world would be rid of crime. The man laughed, amusement in his dark eyes. "Officer, you have fallen into my trap. Whatcha gonna do?" Vincenzo continue to let his fingers trailed down Wade's back.Wade shivered, his stomach squeezing on it
The whole place was plunged into darkness. Wade could still hear the panicky cries of the bar goers, chaotic footsteps and what seemed like people knocking over furniture. What was more important was that he couldn't hear him. He couldn't hear Vincenzo Luciano. His eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, squinting as he tried to detect Vincenzo. However in the next second just as he detected him, Wade's mouth was covered by a large hand and he was pulled into the darkness, until his back hit the wall. Wade gasped. He pulled the hand away from his mouth and scolded, "Hey! Luciano, no games here! If you want to fight, let's do it fair and square. Attacking me in the dark, what kind of gentleman are you?"By now, Wade's eyes have fully adjusted to the dark. He saw Vincenzo Luciano standing in front of him. Wade was cautious, on high alert. What was Vincenzo up to and who was the one shooting in the bar? "Fair and square? You lot aren't what you preach. Hypocrite," Vincenzo said in a low vo
"So you liked to be cuffed," Vincenzo smirked. Why did that sound so weird and something like those seen in BDSM practices? Wade wanted to punch that smirk off his face. "You have weird ideas. Behind you!" Wade snatched up a bottle and flung it at an assassin who was creeping up behind Vincenzo. "You saved me. I didn't expect that," Vincenzo gave the knocked out assassin a casual glance as if it wasn't a threat at all. "No, you did it on purpose. You probably want me to save your ass so that you'll claim I'm your accomplice and send me to jail, won't it?" "You think too lowly of me," Wade didn't enjoy how their conversation always ended up going in circles. What a smarty pants, Wade snorted inwardly. "Then why don't you kill me, put an end to me? I've seen you and I'm not going to let criminals go scot-free in front of my eyes," Wade said."Killing you is too easy. I rather....," Vincenzo walked towards Wade. This time Wade didn't retreat. He stood his ground and glared straig
"Sure," Wade smiled, brushing aside his hair. The wind blew around them, parting Vincenzo's hair to one side that it fell over his face in a messy style. The look he had, however, made Wade felt like he couldn't take his eyes off the man standing before him. Wade had a sudden urge to reach out and brush the hair off Vincenzo's forehead. But Wade resisted that stupid impulsive urge and turned to leave, forcing his eyes to look away from that bastard."In jail," Wade added and strode off, disappearing into the dark. He watched as the police officer disappeared from sight, admiring his figure. He wasn't mistaken. It was him. After Wade left, Vincenzo wiped the corner of his lips and looked down at his fingers. There was some blood but he didn't mind. He chuckled to himself. That police chief was the most interesting one he had ever met. The next morning, Wade woke up from his short sleep and checked his phone. Mark had sent him some text messages about the case. He had gotten all the
Wade went to the café downtown to get a cup of coffee to energize his brain. His father called again this morning and all that ever talked about was Henry's scoldings and how incompetent of a police chief he was. "The usual, please," Wade said to the waitress who nodded and gave him a pleasant smile. The bell hung above the door rang and an overbearing presence walked in. The waitress stood staring at the newcomer for ten seconds, mouth hung open before she quickly rushed into the kitchen, her face red. Wade, a little curious as to the waitress's reactions, turned and casually glanced at the newcomer. His eyes widened upon seeing the man from last night.Luciano. Their gazes met, with Wade feeling slightly uneasy. Scorching, burning, seering intense gaze as if Luciano wanted to uncover him and strip him naked."Having a good time, officer?" Vincenzo walked over to where he sat and took a seat right beside him. "Just a little peaceful before you showed your face here," Wade replied
Wade quickly pulled his hand away from him and sipped his coffee, no longer sparing Luciano a glance. Damnit! What is wrong with me?! Why did I... I almost do such a thing?! Wade scolded himself. What the fuck was he thinking when he looked into Vincenzo's eyes just now? Hell no, Vincenzo will be the last one on earth he'll ever think of bedding. How could he feel that way towards him? He was a man for god's sake! While Wade was battling with his mind, Vincenzo sneaked a glance at him, amusement in his eyes. "You still haven't answered my question," Vincenzo said. Wade took a deep breath and exhaled. "Why are you interested in my answer? I just want to bring justice to his family since they pleaded to me," "Justice..." Vincenzo scoffed at the word. "Do you really believe in justice?""Of course! One day, Luciano, I'm going to burst your ass and kick it to jail," Wade said. "Then I'll be waiting for you to burst my ass, Wade," Vincenzo tilted his head to one side, his neck and
"Kids. They grow up, discover the world out there, and... Change. They found themselves, their happiness,"Wade being gay meant that the family's business would have no heir. Heirs. That was what Henry wanted. He wanted to have grandkids. He wanted to teach all his life skills, knowledge and experience to someone. Unfortunately, the Gods weren't on his side. He experienced the loss of his wife. Therefore he was afraid to lose another loved one again. Hence he was strict and stern with Wade. He wanted to train him as the next heir to the Harrington empire. But that only destroyed whatever relationship the father and son had."Happiness..." Henry muttered."Master, forgive me for saying this. Everyone has a different form of happiness. Yours is fulfilling what your father entrusted to you and your wife's, he is living his dream. You did everything for the family and business, neglecting yourself and your
At the highest floor of the penthouse, near the pool, Vincenzo lay in a deckchair. He had made his boyfriend lie with him in that crowded space. Vincenzo kissed Wade on the lips, nibbling lightly."Your father...""I know," Vincenzo said.It was with him that Wade felt complete and whole. Without him, he would always feel like a part of him was missing. Perhaps Vincenzo was that missing part."He'll definitely do something. You broke the taboo," Wade said, looking worried."Worried about me? Hmm... This is all worth it," Vincenzo replied.Wade shook his head. He should have known better than to express his concern. Vincenzo would have something to brag about."I should really punch your arrogance off your face," Wade said.
"Hey, chief! Look who's back after a two-week-long vacation! Never thought you were the one who takes them, though," Mark said, slapping him on the shoulder. "I really needed a break. Nik has been bothering me like hell," Wade groaned. "So, what's the situation? I heard they caught a criminal from the Luciano family." "Alvin Martinez. The feds took him away." What does the FBI want with him? Wade wondered. How was he going to get him out? He could pay a visit to the FBI office under the guise of seeing his old classmate. Other than that, he couldn't think of any way to get Alvin out. At night, Wade crept into the prison. He stood looking at the cameras above their heads. Behind him, Lorenzo, the man Vincenzo had assigned to him, was typing on a device. He looked up and nodded to Wade. They walked deeper into the prison and found Alvin sitting there, leaning against the wall. "Alvin," Wade called in a hushed whisper. "It's dangerous here. What's up?" Alvin went over to th
"Stay away from my son," the middle-aged man warned. Finally, it dawned on Wade. He had seen this man's face in the files before. Salvatore Luciano. Vincenzo's father. "I would like to. But he wouldn't," Wade replied. He dared to talk back, though he feared for his life. He had heard things about him. "Then I will make him." "You're not respecting his choices. Is that how you treat your sons? Like what happened to Dominic?" Wade understood that Dominic, too, had craved his father's approval. But he had ventured off the path and become a bloodthirsty devil, consumed by thoughts of revenge. Salvatore's gaze darkened. He walked toward Wade. Every brain cell in Wade screamed at him to run and go along. But Wade refused. "Dominic is Dominic. Vincenzo is Vincenzo. Don't mix them up, cop," he spat, disdain and contempt written across his dark pupils. Wade shivered. He felt an invisible noose tighten around his neck. "Leave him. Or I'll make you." "And if I don't?" Wade questi
They stayed at the penthouse for a few days. Wade turned on the TV and watched the news."The feds have determined that the body belongs to the ex-chief, Bennett," the newscaster spoke. "A war between two gangs. One gang led by Dominic Luciano..."They had discovered the connections between Bennett and Dominic Luciano, throwing the entire city into panic and confusion. How they found out about that deep, dark secret was indeed a mystery. It was like someone had dug it out painstakingly and delivered it to the world on a platter."You have an insider in the feds?" Wade was surprised."Mmm..." Vincenzo nodded."God, you're letting me know your deep and dark secrets. Not afraid I'll tell on you?" Wade said."Would you?" Vincenzo pulled him onto his lap. Wade almost stumbled and lost his footing had it not been for Vincenzo steadying him by the waist. Their posit
"No, wait," Wade lowered his gun as he noticed that they were gunning down and hacking Dominic's people.Vincenzo stiffened. He glared at a middle-aged man with partially grey hair."What the fuck are you still doing here? The feds are on their way! Get the fuck out of here," the middle-aged man looked angry. Then he looked at Wade, disdain reflected in his pupils. Wade felt a little uncomfortable to be asserted by those eyes. He knew very well what type of person the man was. A killer.Somehow, Vincenzo obeyed the man without putting up a fight. He walked over, interlocking his fingers with Wade's, pulling him along. The middle-aged man scowled. The sound of sirens in the background was loud as they made their way to a car stashed near the bushes. Marcello was in the car."Where's Alvin?""Alvin... He... He went to distract the
Dominic had called the feds and cops. He wasn’t afraid of getting caught because he had connections with them. No wonder. Seeing his face twisting into rage, Dominic laughed."Perhaps you should think before you leap," a gun pressed against Dominic's head from behind, a cold voice resonating in the tense atmosphere.Dominic laughed, unfazed. "Alvin Martinez. How glad I am to meet you. I’ve heard things about you.""Shut it. Drop your weapon," Alvin ordered."Alvin! Where the hell did you come from? We were all so worried!" Marcello was surprised. Apparently, Marcello hadn’t stayed in his hiding place and had followed them upstairs."It’s no use. They’re on their way!" Dominic laughed even more as Alvin pressed the gun into his head."Your grandmother would be pleased," Dominic grinned. "Her grandson is so good! She’s too old to play with, perhaps the king of hell would like a taste of her."For a second there, Alvin wavered. "Touch her and—""And die? Hahaha, I’m already in your hands
Wade coughed, his vision turning blurrier and blurrier. He could hear Bennett laughing, his lips moving, saying something, but it wasn’t clear. His eyes drifted to a metal bar lying on the ground not far away.He strained, reached out, and his fingers wrapped around the cool metal surface. Then he swung it haphazardly at Bennett. The pressure on his neck was released, and Wade sucked in air, gasping. Making use of the momentum, he rolled over and slammed the bar down on Bennett. Bennett lodged kicks and punches into his stomach, knocking the air out of his lungs. He ignored the pain, anger fueling his hatred. How dare this bastard call his mother names?! Even if she wasn’t clean, she was a damn good mother who cared and fucking loved him like any other mother in the world. He slammed the bar down, again and again, lost in his anger and thoughts.Anger coursed through his veins, fueling his adrenaline as he raised the bar and brought it down on Bennett. All the words Bennett had said a
All heads turned to look up at the man who had spoken. He walked down the stairs, smirking coldly. Once Bennett saw him, he quickly moved over to his side. Wade recognized who that man was. They have been thrown into this situation thanks to him. He burned with every hatred of his fiber."Dominic Luciano," Marcello gripped his knives tighter. He was ready to back up Vincenzo and fight Dominic to the depths of hell. "Sorry, but I'm not going to give you an easy death. Say, let's have some fun, shall we?" Dominic gestured to his surroundings. More of his men poured in, holding various weapons, clubs, axes, maces, guns and hammers. "Fuck, we're screwed," Marcello sighed. They were outnumbered. Many of their men had fallen during the fight earlier. And where was the fuck is Alvin? He scanned their surroundings, even the ceiling. No Alvin."Damn bastard couldn't have run off on his own?" Carlos said, glaring at Dominic. "So your men run off? Hahaha, pathetic and expected of your pigs,"
