Oblivious to Alec's jealousy, Jenny nodded. "Mhm. It's been a few years, but our relationship is still there. We used to spend a lot of time together when we were younger."

Bitterness spread through Alec's mouth. He didn't even know if he shared that with Jenny anymore.

His silence invited Jenny's curiosity. "You're not jealous, are you?"

Alec said nothing.

Jealous? How could he not be? Jenny and Finn already had their kinship as disciples. Now both were children of the Ten Elite of Bardoff City. Who was to say a prospective marriage wasn't in the works?

Alec had never thought little of himself, nor did he think James was better than him, but he still worried about the what-ifs.

"You're thinking too much. We're just friends." Jenny shrugged.
