Prologue III

"Oh my lord! Fuck! I hit someone!" I heard a panicked voice. "Damn it..." I looked around for the voice. A silver haired male was looking me over worriedly. He suddenly exposed fangs and leaned in, biting into my neck. I let out a scream, fear taking me over. IT'S A VAMPIRE! I'M IN HELL! I'M IN HELL! He started to drain me then, pulling me close as he rubbed my arm. I'm going to die!

"I don't want to die," I mumbled weakly. The vampire shushed me and then began to finish me off. He pulled back at the last second just when I felt like I was going to be finished and he looked me in the eyes and bit into his wrist, pressing it against my lips.

"Drink," the vampire told me quickly.

"NO!" I heard the demon fuming in the background, sounding pissed. "DON'T YOU DARE LAURENCE!" I looked towards the vampire, finding comfort and started to drink like he told me. "LAURENCE!" The demon screeched at me. "SPIT IT OUT!" I swallowed my first bit, moaning at the taste. "DAMN YOU! I'LL KILL YOU!" I felt fear consuming me and looked towards the demon and tried to obey him but the blood..... was so delicious. He glared me down, his body rigid as he was seething with rage as he watched me, unable to stop me. I let out a small moan as I gulped down the rest of the blood spilling into my mouth. The demon hissed at me, his eyes glowing a bright red. "I hope you die a most painful death. Oh, I swear I'll devour your soul when you die. It's only a matter of time boy. Not everything is eternal. Someone will kill you, and when they do, I'll be right there, ready," he hissed at me. I spit out some of the blood, coughing in fear at his threat and squirmed against the vampire. "There's no avoiding it Laurence. You've doomed yourself. One swallow is all it takes," he growled at me. I started to cry at his anger.

"I'm sorry," I cried out. My body trembled. He glared at me then started to stalk off, his stilettos clicking firmly against the ground. The vampire shushed me and held me close.

"There's nothing to fear," he whispered to me. "You're going to be okay. I promise." I felt my breath catching as something inside me started to awaken and my heart pounded in my chest. I felt like death was slipping up my spine as pain struck my body, eating away at my quickly. I let out a scream of pain. "That's just the process kicking in," he whispered to me and then picked me up. "It'll be over in a few hours," he promised, sounding a little worried. He pulled out his phone then as he held me in one arm then called someone. "Everest, I need a lift," he said calmly, looking around like he was checking the darkness for something.

"A lift?" I heard a soft voice on the end. "You know I can't do that."

"Come on, please? Neal won't mind."

"Yes, but my kids will," the voice answered.

"I have a fledgling," the vampire said quickly. There was a pause and then I suddenly was touched.

"A fledgling?" I heard the voice say, right next to me now. "Oh dear... you hit him. I thought you were told to stop driving fast!" The voice hissed.

"BUT I NEEDED TO GET HOME! I need to talk to Lyle-"

"IT COULD'VE WAITED IDIOT!"

"I'm not an idiot," the vampire grumbled.

"You knew better than to be driving that fast! You killed an innocent!"

"He's not dead... He's turning," the vampire said stubbornly.

"Yea- Hey... what's up with the straight jacket- Oh look, an insane asylum," the voice said calmly.

"Oh yeah, would you look at that," the vampire said and laughed. "We've got an insane fledgling on our hands. We'll have to watch him closely."

"You will have to watch him closely," the voice corrected. "Now let's get home."

"I'm not insane," I mumbled. I'm not.... I'm not insane. "It was just a few cuts.... I didn't mean to hurt the guard...." I mumbled. "The room was so cozy and cold..." I mumbled as I looked around for the demon. "The demon got me out," I mumbled. "Ask him. I'm not insane."

"Demon?" The vampire asked, sounding confused. "What demon?"

"Brother... just take him home and get him in a bed. You can't stay out here with him. The cops will be coming to find him," the voice said worriedly and we suddenly appeared in a bedroom. "Put him down and get that thing off him."

"I will... Jeez, you nag a lot more now that you've had kids," the vampire muttered and sat me down on the bed before he removed the straight jacket. I let out a pleased sigh of happiness and straightened out my arms, moaning as I could finally stretch them. I don't know how long it's been since I've done this.... I felt a rush go through them quickly as the pain took them over and they fell back down on my body. "There.. they're off," he whispered and then sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Good, I'll go tell Lyle that you wanted to talk to him. I'm not staying long either. I need to get back to my babies," the voice purred and was suddenly gone. I looked the vampire over and gave him a satisfied look. He saved me from the demon.

"Thank you," I mumbled. "You saved me from the demon.... He's angry but he's not going to get my soul now." He glanced over at me and frowned slightly before he decided to not say anything about it and rubbed my cheek.

"What's your name?" He asked me.

"Laurence," I mumbled softly. "My name is Laurence." I hid my wrists quickly under my body, ashamed of the scars on them. He noticed and gave me a kind smile.

"Those will be gone soon," he promised me. "My name is Silas, Silas Rosario- king of vampires."
