" In other to make Desmond to be normal again, I had to come and replace his dead sister. That's the reason you see me living here.
He was given some drugs to take so that it will also help his situation, but some times he doesn't take it that's why we're worried about him. Sparkle concluded.
I heaved a sigh of relief, as I watched her leave me in tears. " Till death do us apart" I said in tears.
The next month was planned for the grand opening of the lost son. I was having mixed feelings because on one hand I was happy that someone was coming to live with us and on the other hand, I was so scared due to the way my husband has been acting lately. I never allowed his attitude to bother me much because i expected that from him.
The long awaited day finally came, the decorations were so beautiful, everywhere smelt like a heaven. At exactly 7pm, everyone was sitted for the event to begin. We sat at the front, so i had a full glance of everything. After a brief introduction and recognition of some dignitaries in our midst, Dad was invited to the stage so that he can give a short speech, after which he will reveal the face of his lost son to us.
" There is no limit to the joy anyone will have when he or she discovers that what he lost years ago has been found. There are some things that are so special that we love to keep memories of, but it would have been better if the memories would be a reality.
About two months ago, i found out that my long lost son, is still alive. He takes after me in all areas, from his looks, to career and whatever a son needs to look like his father, and that is what surprises me the most because we didn't grow up together, infact the last time i saw him, he was still a baby, but today, things have changed. I found him after many years.
Ladies and gentlemen, with a clapping and standing ovation, join me as i welcome my lost but found son; Ned Harris, he is the CEO of Nora's taste, a wine's brand that he lauched about 2 months ago.
Immediately Ned's name was mentioned, a cold sensation ran down Nora's spine. While others clapped their hands with cheerfulness, Nora stood like a lifeless body as she watched Ned walked majestically to the stage. She perceived that her husband was looking at her non stop, she decided therefore to smile as the others did and also clap her hands. The microphone was handed to him so that he can address the audience. At this point, Nora could not hold her tears anymore, she wept silently as she listened to him.
" Good evening everyone, i feel loved to be here because i feel i'm in the midst of those who love me. Thanks for welcoming me into your midst. well, i don't have much to say but i'll just emphasize on something in the next few seconds. No matter how long it takes for one to be seperated from what he ought to have or what is rightfully his, a time will definetly come when what ought to be his would be his and nothing, i mean nothing on earth can stop it from coming to him. All he needs is just patience.
There is no point in rushing into any deal because the patient dog has always gone home with the fatest bone. Thank you. He bowed and handed over the microphone to the master of ceremony.
He thereafter turned to go with his dad to be welcomed by the rest of the family. Nora's heart almost sank into her stomach when Ned shook her hand. Immediately after the official welcoming of Ned into the family, Nora ran into the garden to weep uncontrallably.
* * * * * * * * * *
Mr. Harris has thought it wise for Ned to live with them for the main time so that he can get familiar with the rest of the family but he has decided not live with them because of the reactions he has gotten from his wife and son on the first day he met them, after much consideration, he thought of stopping by during the weekends. His welcoming happened to on a weekend, so he had to live with them for 2 days before leaving. The room he was given to stay whenever he felt like coming home was the room before Nora's room.
He entered without an arguement, but was bothered because he had never gotten the opportunity to talk to Nora, they have only communicated with eye movements and signals. When Desmond noticed that Ned's room was so close to his, he decided to act romantically to his wife whenever he was around, on the other hand, Nora have plans of talking to Ned when nobody will be in the house.
As Ned lay his head to rest on his bed, he heard the laughter of his soulmate with another man, a man he never liked since they were kids. He rose up from is bed and placed his ears close to the wall. He heard the sound even more, which made him to shed tears. He bacame annoyed, he opened the door to his room and ran outside the house to give a scream, Nora seemed to have heard him scream, when she heard his voice again, she knew that something was wrong with him, she push her husband aside and decided to go check on him.
She walked in trembling towards the entrance to behold the sight of her eternal lover in pains. She walked outside the house and bent over him.
" Ned what is it? She asked him in a trembling voice.
" Nothing is wrong with me. Why? he asked him in return.
" I heard your voice, so i thought of coming to check on you. She replied as a tear dropped from her eyes
" Nothing is wrong with me. I'm fine. You can go back and play with your husband. He's waiting for you.
" But i heard you screaming. Ned please talk to me.
" Why are acting as if you care about me? Why have you suddenly become an angel? Why have you suddenly showed up as if you really show concern about me when you really do not. He whispered in agony as tears dropped from his eyes.
" Ned, i can explain. I wanted to check on you but i couldn't find you. I wanted to search for you but i never knew where to start the search from. I was confused about what to do. I was made to believe that you were no more or probably with another woman.
" That's not an excuse Nora. If you really loved me, then you would have waited for me. We made a promise never to leave each other right? Nora could not respond but nod to what Ned has just said. Then why did you break the promise?
" But why did you leave me without telling me? She asked him
" Didn't you see what happened that day? Your heartless brother almost took my life if not for my mother that came to my aid. why did you leave the scene in the first place? I thought you were still there watching the evil that your brother was carrying out, but I never knew that you ran away.
If you were there, you would have known what happened next.
" Ned i'm sorry, pleae forgive me. She pleaded
" What's the point of your pleas when you've already broken the promise? There's no point, i think we should jut go our seperate ways but even if we go our seperate ways, you will still be cherished by me, you will continue the only woman i love: My eternal lover.
As he concluded and turned to leave, he was brought back because of the sound he heard behind him: Nora had slumped on the ground .
He looked around to make sure nobody saw her slumped. His heart raced for the fear of what might happen if someone should come and see her on the floor. But they just had a little conversation, could that be the reason why she slumped. He took one, two, three and four steps towards her to feel her temperature, she was still warm.
The thought of leaving her washed him, but he tried to wash it off as he made attempt to go call Desmond. Just then, he heard footsteps, he quickly moved into the dark part so that he would see what will happen next. " I didn't touch her, " he thought. I think she just fainted.
Desmond came out to see the body of Nora on the floor. The fear of moving closer to her gripped him. His mind quickly flashed to the day he saw his little sister lay on the floor. The scene was playing right in front of him.
Immediately, he let out a loud cry that woke everyone up. " What could be happening on this happy day of ours? Mr. Harris asked his wife as he jumped out of the bed almost leaving the room in his pants but was taken aback by his wife.
Sparkle arrived the scene but stopped at the sight of Nora on the floor.." what happened? Could she be dead? What led to her death? Who was she with? And who saw her when she slumped? All these thoughts ran through her head.
Mr. Harris arrived and without wasting time he Carried her into his car, he headed straight for the hospital. Ned made his way and followed his father while sparkle calmed Desmond.
Ned walked to and fro the corridor of the ward as he waited for the doctor to come tell them what has happened to Nora. Mr. Harris has gotten the story of what transpired between his daughter-in-law and his son.
He understood whatever chemistry going on within him. He rose up and crossed his hand around his shoulders as they walked out.
" I understand you son, nothing will happen to Nora. It's a minor case I think.
" Yeah, she'll be fine. He told and walked three steps farther from him." Could he be thinking that I still want her? Nah! He told himself as he turned to look at his father
Mr. Harris understood the fact that the connection between him and his son was not solid yet, if not for his mother's pleas, he didn't mind not searching for his real father.
" Hello Mr. Harris. The doctor called.
" Hi sir. How is she? Ned was quick to ask.
" Are you her husband? The doctor asked him.
Ned bowed his head and replied with a heart breaking "No" as he shook his head alongside. The doctor turned to face Mr. Harris and told him to come with him immediately, Ned was made to wait outside, he sat on a long chair outside as he pondered on what was going to be the doctor's response.
Within ten minutes, Mr. Harris was out with what looked like an envelope. " I thought as much son, she's pregnant. He told her as he sat close to him, trying to bring out the test results.
" Pregnant? That means she's gone for life! He muttered to himself. He felt a tear rolled down his check but he quickly wiped it with the edge of his hand, not wanting his father to see him cry.
" Have you checked on her? He managed to ask
" Not yet. I think we should go together, she must be feeling lonely.
Nora laid on the hospital bed as she watched the drip placed on her hand dropped in bits, flowing through what looked like a pipe into her hand. She allowed her tears to roll freely down her checks, but the sound of the door opening made her quickly turned to the other side, she shut her eyes,. pretending to be fast asleep. She felt the presence of Ned which made her readjust on the bed so that she could talk to him.
Nora sat on the hospital bed, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. Tears streamed down her face as she clutched her stomach, feeling a mixture of joy and despair. She was pregnant, but not by the man she had promised to love forever.Suddenly, the door opened and Ned walked in. Nora gasped in surprise and wiped away her tears, trying to compose herself. Ned's presence made her feel both relieved and nervous at the same time."Ned," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "What are you doing here?"Ned walked over to her and sat down beside her on the bed. He looked at her with sadness and longing in his eyes."I heard you were here," he said softly. "I had to see you. I had to know that you were okay."Nora nodded, feeling overwhelmed by his presence. She had missed him so much over the past three years. She had thought about him every day, wondering where he was and what he was doing. But now that he was here, she didn't know what to say to him."I'm fine," she finally
Susan's heart was racing as she made her way to Harris' house, her anger and frustration boiling over. She had spent years building a life for herself and her son in Italy, working tirelessly to provide for them both. And now, after all this time, Harris had caused another problem for her family. As she arrived at the house, she could hear the raised voices of her son and Harris' other child. She pushed her way past the bewildered Harris and stormed into the living room, her eyes fixed on her son, who was standing with his fists clenched. "What's going on here?!" Susan demanded, her voice shaking with anger. Harris tried to explain what had happened, but Susan wasn't interested in hearing it. She had spent too many years dealing with the fallout of his selfish actions, and she wasn't going to let him hurt her son again. "You abandoned us, Harris! You left me pregnant and alone, and you think you can just come back into our lives and pretend everything is okay? You have no right to
Ned woke up to the sound of his alarm, his heart heavy with the weight of memories. It was the anniversary of the day he made his eternal love promise to Nora, and he couldn't help but feel the pull of their shared history. He sat up in bed, his mind already wandering to the plantation where he grew up with his grandmother and where he first met Nora.He knew the plantation had fallen into disrepair after Nora's father's death and the subsequent legal battles that followed. But despite all of that, he couldn't help but feel drawn to it. He wanted to see the place where he and Nora had made their promise to each other, to relive the memories that still haunted him.Ned got dressed quickly, his mind made up. He didn't care if he ran into Ryan, Nora's elder brother who had caused so much pain in his family. He was determined to go back to the plantation and relive the memories of his youth. As he drove down the winding roads that led to the plantation, Ned's heart began to beat faster. H
Nora walked into the house, and her heart sank as she saw her husband, Desmond, pacing back and forth in anger. His face was contorted in rage, and she knew something was wrong. She was already emotionally drained from her argument with Ryan and the visit to her father's tomb, so she wasn't sure if she could handle another confrontation. As soon as he saw her, Desmond turned to face her, his voice laced with venom. "Where the hell have you been, Nora? I've been trying to call you all day!""I went to visit my father's tomb with Ryan," Nora replied, trying to keep her voice steady.Desmond's eyes narrowed. "And who else did you visit the tomb with, huh? Ned, perhaps?"Nora's eyes widened in shock. "What? No, of course not! Why would you even think that?""Because I know how you feel about him. You think I don't see the way you look at him? The way you act around him? And now that you're pregnant, you think you can just go running back to him?" Desmond spat out.Nora felt tears prick at
Ryan sat on his couch, tapping his foot impatiently as he dialed his sister's number. He needed to talk to her, to find out what was really going on between her and Ned. He had suspected something for a while now, and he was determined to get to the bottom of it."Hello?" Nora's voice came through the phone."Hey, it's me," Ryan said. "I need you to come over to the plantation. We need to talk.""Is everything okay?" Nora asked, concern in her voice."Yeah, everything's fine. I just need to talk to you in person," Ryan said, trying to keep the urgency out of his voice."Okay, I'll be there in a little bit," Nora said before hanging up the phone.Ryan stood up from the couch and walked over to the window, watching as Nora walked into the plantation He took a deep breath before opening the door to greet her."Nora, thanks for coming," Ryan said, trying to sound casual."Of course, Ryan. What's going on?" Nora asked, looking around the room nervously.Ryan motioned for her to sit down on
Ned was surprised to receive an invitation from Mr. Harris; his father to discuss the issue he was having with his wine production. He arrived at the Harris residence, greeted by Harris' butler, and was shown into the spacious living room where Harris was waiting for him."Good evening son," Harris said, extending his hand. "Thank you for coming.""Good evening, sir," Ned replied, shaking his hand. "It's my pleasure to be here."As they sat down to discuss the issue, Desmond, Nora's husband, walked into the living room, surprised to see Ned there. He acted cordial, greeting Ned with a smile and offering him a drink. However, as they talked, Desmond couldn't help but act like a romantic husband to his wife, Nora, who was also present in the room.Nora noticed the way her husband was acting and felt a twinge of guilt. She knew that she had been unfaithful to him emotionally, and now seeing Desmond act this way made her feel even more guilty. As the conversation progressed, Ned couldn't
Ned slowly opens his eyes as he hears his name being called. He turns to face his grandma and sees the pain etched on her face. He quickly sits up and leans towards her. "What is it, Grandma? Are you okay?" he asks with concern. His grandma takes a deep breath before speaking. "I'm in pain, Ned. I can't sit up properly," she says, wincing. Ned reaches for the button to call the nurse. "I'll call the nurse right away, Grandma. Don't worry, they'll give you something for the pain," he assures her. Just then, the nurse walks in and checks on his grandma. She administers some pain medication and asks Ned to help her sit up so she can eat her breakfast. As they assist his grandma with her breakfast, she looks up at Ned and says, "You should go see your mother, Ned. She sounded worried on the phone last night." Ned sighs. "I know, Grandma. I'll go see her as soon as I can," he says. His grandma nods. "You should. Family is important, Ned. Don't forget that," she says with a smile. Ne
Nora is worried about Ned, since he left the other day, he hasn't shown up neither has he even put a call across to check on her. She decides to reach out to Ned by calling his phone, but it goes straight to voicemail. She tries a few more times with the same result. Nora begins to worry that something might have happened to him, and she can't shake off the feeling that she needs to see him. She thinks of going to his house to check on him, but she's not sure if he would be there.Feeling restless and anxious, Nora decides to go for a walk to clear her head. She strolls through the neighborhood, taking in the sights and sounds of the early morning. As she walks, she sees a familiar figure in the distance. It's Ned!Nora rushes up to him, relieved that he is okay. She asks him why he hasn't been answering his phone, but he seems distant and hesitant to talk to her. Nora senses that something is wrong and presses him for an explanation.Ned eventually opens up to her about his conversa
Nora watched the doctor leave her with what doesn't make sense to her. "How can that be the only word that can proceed from his mouth?" She asked in a whisper. She sat down for some time but after a about an hour, she rose up as she paced back and forth in the corridor, her heart pounding with a mixture of fear and anticipation. "What if you take a seat?" Sparkle asked her"Sparkle, I can't just stand here," Nora said, her voice trembling with fear. "I need to know how he's doing. I need to see him."Sparkle gently hold Nora's hand, her touch calm and reassuring. "I understand, Nora, but remember what the doctor said. Ned is in critical condition, and the medical team is doing everything they can," she said, her voice filled with sympathy. "Rushing into the surgery room won't change anything. We need to trust in their expertise."Nora's shoulders slumped. She leaned against the wall, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know, Sparkle. It's just so hard to wait, not knowing if he's going
Sparkle's hand sank into her stomach as she seems to mistakenly press the send button on her phone, her hand trembled with fear and anxiety. The piercing sound of the gunshot and the thud of someone falling to the ground echoed in her ears, sending shivers down her spine. Her heart raced, pounding against her chest, as she struggled to compose herself and gather her thoughts. She bent down on the other side of Ned's car, her legs failing to move as she intends to move from her position. Her phone slipped from her, she tried to gasp for breath as Ryan's voice followed immediately. "Who fired that shot?" He asked but he got no response. He pulled his trigger and faced his boys. "Who did?" He asked again. "You still don't want to say?" He asked, as he let out a shot in the air. One of his boys dropped his gun and raised his hands up. Ryan rushed to grab his collar"You incompetent fool!" Ryan screamed through gritted teeth, his voice laced with anger. "What have you done? You've jeopardi
At the sight of Ryan Nora froze, Sparkle stood in shock while Ned tightened his grip around the weapon, his senses on high alert. "Ryan," he spat, his voice sounding like that of a wounded lion. "What are you doing here? Nothing concerns you here"Ryan smiled darkly, his gaze fixed on Sparkle. "Oh, but it is my concern, isn't it?" he retorted,. "You think you can just play safe and think you can take Nora away from me? Well, I won't let that happen."Sparkle's heart pounded in her chest as she stared at Ryan, her mind trying to find a way out of this ugly situation. With a steely courage, Sparkle stepped forward, her voice filled with authority. "Ryan, this isn't about you. Nora deserves to be free from your manipulation and control. We won't let you harm her anymore."Ryan's expression twisted into a mask of rage, his grip tightening around a concealed object in his hand, something he hid but the shape of it looked like a dangerous weapon. "You have no idea what you're getting yours
The knock on the door made Sparkle woke up. It was Kate, she opened the door without a response from Sparkle. "What time did you get home yesterday? I was worried sick of you, Where were you?"Sparkle stretched on the bed without opening her eyes. "Mum, I had to finish up with some important things that's why I returned late. I'm fine" she muttered. Kate looked at her for a second time." We'll see to that when you're awake, it seems you didn't know what you caused last night". She said and stormed out of her room.Sparkle woke up again after three hours to the soft rays of the morning sun filtering through her bedroom window. The events of the previous day flooded her mind, and she knew she had to reach out to Ned to share the updates about Nora. she grabbed her phone and dialed his number.Ned answered, his voice laced with curiosity and concern. "Sparkle, is everything alright? Did you find Nora?" he asked, a hint of urgency in his tone.Taking a deep breath, Sparkle began to tell h
Both ladies engaged themselves in series of conversations but as as the daylight began to fade, Sparkle knew it was time for her to leave and return home. She look out the window and admired the golden hues of the setting sun, casting a warm lighting over the city streets. The realization that she had to say goodbye to Nora for now pierced her heart, but she knew she had to go."Nora," Sparkle called softly, "I have to head back home now, Mom and Dad will be waiting; you know how they are, right?. But before I go, I want you to know how proud I am of you. You've shown incredible strength and resilience in the face of trials. Remember that I'm just a phone call away if you ever need someone to talk to or if you need anything at all."Nora smiled appreciatively, her eyes reflecting a newfound determination. "Thank you, Sparkle. I don't know what I would have done without your support and understanding. You've been my strength throughout this journey, and I'm grateful to have you as a fr
Ned looked at sparkle for some seconds, he could tell from her face expression, that she was tensed but was resolved to push further with his questions. He leaned forward, his eyes fixed on Sparkle, He knew that the answers he sought may be within Sparkle's knowledge but he doubted her possiblity of opening up, but he was prepared to press for the truth."Sparkle, I need to know the truth, I need you to be open to me" Ned began, his voice steady yet laced with urgency. "Were you involved in Nora's disappearance?"Sparkle shifted uncomfortably in her seat, avoiding Ned's eyes. Her fingers intertwined nervously as she struggled to find the right words. The silence in the room hung heavy, the weight of their unsteady eye contact brought tension between them."Ned, I..." Sparkle's voice quivered, her eyes filled with guilt and uncertainty. "I did help Nora escape. I couldn't bear to see her suffer, but I can't tell you where she is."Ned's heart sank at Sparkle's admission. While reliev
"I believe that he'll be fine. We just need to be strong for him and for ourselves at this point". Mr Harris advised his family. He sat on one of the chairs in the living room, watching everyone dispersing.Kate entered her room, the weight of her emotions crashing over her. She closed the door behind her, Collapsing onto her bed, she buried her face in her hands and let out the tears that seemed to originate from the depths of her soul. The image of Desmond's distressed face appeared in he thoughtsr, his nonsensical and meaningless words echoing in her mind. As a mother, she had always strived to protect her children, to shield them from pain and turmoil. Yet now, she felt helpless, powerless to help her son. She thought about how she had lost her daughter at a tender age and how she was replaced with Sparkle, and now Desmond is almost slipping out of her hands.Tears streamed down Kate's face as she allowed herself to fully embrace her grief. She wept not only for her son but also f
"Hey boss," Mike greeted Ryan. "Why the sudden change of plans?. Ryan looked at him in an annoying way, "that's not the reason I called you here, we have to get to work immediately". He told him as he turned to the direction of the roomRyan and Desmond entered the room. The dimly lit space revealed an empty bed, the absence of Nora casting a shadow of uncertainty over their plans. They exchanged worried glances, their brows furrowed in confusion."Where could she be?" Ryan muttered under his breath, his voice laced with frustration. He scanned the room, hoping for some clue or sign of Nora's whereabouts. "Desmond, where did you leave before you followed Ned"?.Desmond, his mind filled with worry, did bother to give Ryan a response. He approached the window and looked outside. His gaze shifting from one corner of the plantation to another, searching for any trace of movement. A sinking feeling settled in the pit of his stomach as he realized Nora was nowhere in sight."She must have
Ned walked out of his father's house, heading towards the car park, but his mind was still unsettled. Since he was in the house, he didn't set his eyes on Desmond nor did he hear his voice. "Would it be wise if I ask after him or should I just mind my business"? He asked himself, taking a halt. After some minutes of deliberation, he returned into the sitting."Did you forget something?" Kate's voice came through."No ma'am. I wanted bro ask about Desmond's health. How's he coping? Ned asked. Harris saw the compassion in his son's eyes. Despite the misunderstanding that always erupt between them, he still cared about his welfare. " Desmond is fine" His father finally said, "Do you want to see him?" He asked. "Sure Dad" Ned responded. His father led the way and they followed suit, he opened the door with his key but their heart sank as they stepped into Desmond's empty room. The air felt heavy with disappointment and frustration. He looked around, hoping to find some clue or indication
