"Look if this is going to be some sort of lecture I don't have time" I said while adjusting the collar of my shirt.

He looked at me full of annoyance that not only shined in his eyes but was etched onto his face causing me to sigh, really not wanting to listen to whatever the hell he was going to say about how wrong I was.

"I'll lock the door next time okay" I said, feeling like a child that was about to be scolded and was trying to attempt to sway his mind in the other direction.

"Did you like it?" he asked cocky, causing me to scoff and stare at him in annoyment.

"What I like and don't like is none of your concern" I stated and he took a deep breath before shaking his head a bit.

"You have to tell him no" he said in a bossy tone and I rolled my eyes., what was he my fucking parent

"Yeah no shit" I mumbled while rolling my eyes.

"We're gonna be step siblings, nothing can happen between anyone anyway" I said while walking towards the door.

"We're not blood he'll see that as an opportunity" Julian stated causing me to stop

"Nothing is gonna happen okay" I said looking back at him, desperately wanting to get out of this house and away from any more interactions with these guys along with the hope of making it out without my mother catching me.

"Why are you so nervous anyway" I ask but he doesn't respond, he just looks away causing me to sigh.

"I'll see you later Julian" I said before exiting the room and heading downstairs since it was clear he wasn’t going to respond to me.

Walking towards the door I push my phone into my pocket as I reach out to grab the door knob.

"Where do you think you're going?'' my mothers voice sneered from behind me causing me to pause and take a deep breath.

Any bit of hope I had about not seeing her this morning or having anymore interactions quickly drains from my body.

"Work" I said in a quiet tone while turning back to look at her.

There was this fire in her eyes as she raised an eyebrow.

Her expression was cold as she looked at me.

My stand was defensive even with her about ten feet away as her anger swirled through the room causing my body to tense up even more.

"Why would you do that?" she said through gritted teeth.

"Because I still have some stuff to set up" I said cautiously as she stared at me.

"Don't go in," she said sternly, causing my eyes to widen.

"But I have to be there" I started to protest when the shock dropped off of my features.

"I said don't go in today" she gritted out while elucidating every word.

"We need to be a family with them, meaning you are on your best behavior" she said, stepping forward with a threatening look on her face.

"Meaning you are to spend time with your soon to be brothers, not work, got it" she spoke in a threatening tone.

"I understand mother" I whispered and she tilted her head.

"I said, got it" she said again while breathing deeply.

"I got it Mother'' I said and she nodded slightly satisfied before stepping over and motioning up the stairs.

"Go on then" she said and I walked past her heading up the stairs.

When I made it to the top I let out a little breath while leaning against the wall "damn it" I muttered with my face in my hands.

"I have to go," I said, walking towards my room and pulling out my laptop.

Locking my door I put on a set of headphones connecting them to the computer.

Logging in I press on Jack's name and the call starts dialing.

Walking into the bathroom I put on the shower to cover my voice.

"Hey boss, where are you?" Jack's voice rang out, causing me to look over at the screen as I raised an eyebrow and he nodded in understanding.

"The issues with the gang aren't bad, I can have everything under control in around an hour" he said and I let out a little sigh.

"See this is why you're my right hand man" I said and he laughed a little at my comment.

"I've still got some paperwork to get done when I am I'll shoot you a text and have it printed in my office" I stated and he nodded stiffly.

"The gun drop off will be done in two days and we're supposed to get 60 mill don't let them skimp out; I don't have time for Riddlers shit" I said and his face went a little pale at my tone.

"Also my mother is getting married again" I said and his eyes widened.

"Isn't that like the fifth one this year?" he asked and I nodded.

"Yep and he's even richer than the other ones" I said while rolling my eyes.

"Well she's definitely got a type" he said and I let out a little laugh.

"Yeah except this time he has four sons" I said and his mouth dropped.

"Holy shit" he mumbled and I nodded.

"They're getting married this coming weekend" I said with a smirk and he let out a little sigh.

"Oh no, you've got that look on your face, what's the plan" he said almost nervously.

The smirk on my face widened "I'll send you everything when I'm done, it'll be the perfect cover up" I said before turning fully serious.

"But I need you to get me anything and everything that you can on a man named William Pierce and I need it no later than Wednesday" I stated and his eyebrows furrowed.

"William Pierce" he said in a questioning tone and I nodded my head.

"Yeah he sounds familiar" I said in almost a lost tone "anyway get it done, I'll be in touch" I said and he nodded.

"I'll get right on it boss, good luck" he said whispering the last part and I sent him a small smile.

"Thanks I'll need it" I said before he sent me a small wave and I exited out, going into some documents.

Turning off the shower I walk out towards my bed before plopping down and getting to work.

Hours passed when I heard shuffling outside my door causing my body to pause.

'Shit' I thought to myself at the thought of my mother being outside.

A small knock comes from my door causing me to feel a bit confused.

My mother would never knock so gently so it has to be someone else, pressing save and closing all of my files I close the computer placing it onto the bed stand next to me.

"Amara" I heard a whisper causing me to sigh.

Standing up I walk to the door before slowly opening it.

"Hey Link" I said, dragging out his name as I leaned against the doorframe. "I thought you had to leave," he stated with his eyebrows furrowed as he looked at me confused. "I was but I'm here" I said, shrugging my shoulders while I looked up at him. "You locked your door" he said suddenly and I nodded at the observation. "I did," I said in a matter of fact tone. "Are you mad at me?" he asked while looking down a bit nervous that I was gonna tell someone about what was going on. "Why would I be mad at you?" I asked and his eyes widened in relief. "Can I come in?" he asked and I took a deep breath before shaking my head. "I don't know if that's the best idea" I said and he sent me a fake pout while stepping forward. "Please" he said, reaching out to grab me but I moved back a bit while letting out a sigh in annoyance. But without me responding he went right past me into the room "Link" I said in a stern tone as I turned around. "You shouldn't be in here, I do not want to list

After getting ready for bed and doing what I could to dress my wounds I lay down in bed to read my book. My door opens quietly causing me to look up at the sound to see Link stand there his arms crossed over his chest causing me to stand up confused at his sudden appearance. “What are you doing here?” I ask clearly defensive and mirroring his stance and he just scoffs before turning to close and lock the door behind him. “It’s my fucking house” he stated and I just raised an eyebrow, the guy that pretended to be sweet and innocent was finally showing his true colors because he was pissed off he hadn’t gotten his dick wet. “It’s my fucking room” I stated back and he walked towards me before roughly grabbing my arm. “I don’t fucking care, how dare you tease me push me away don’t you know how lucky you are that I want you” he growled out and I rolled my eyes. “You mean you want easy access to pussy when you feel needy” I stated rolling my eyes and ripping my arms out of his hold.

Loud banging, all that could be heard was loud fucking banging; sitting up I glare at my door hearing more bangs after more bangs. “Go away” I yelled, moving to lay back down but I heard a frustrated growl and a groan from next to me causing my body to stop its movement. Looking over I see Link and my eyes widen, shit, oh wait no I didn’t sleep with him, thank god. He moves closer to me in his sleep, his arm moving around my waist and the banging from the door continues causing a whole lot of anger to course through my veins. If it was mother there would have been loud screaming and threats, I also doubt Mr. Pierce is the type to repeated bang on a door or allow it so my only guess is the engaged couple has left earlier this morning and this is none other then one of my other new fucking step-brothers deciding to wreak havoc early in the morning. “Fucking hell I can hear you, quit banging you asshole” I yell throwing Links arm off of me causing him to shift and stare at me as I w

The footsteps sounded coming down the hall and I straightened up in my seat throwing on a soft smile which caused Julian to raise an eyebrow at me, but I ignored his questioning stare. When the footsteps stop we all look back to the door to see Mr. Pierce smiling “good morning, sorry we had to leave so early” he laughed while moving towards his seat at the table. “Your mother went up to bed Amara, she’s been weirdly tired lately” he said looking a bit in thought and inside I wanted to laugh at his statement but instead all that passes my lips is a light hum. “I would like it if the two of us talked, got to know each other a bit more, and maybe did lunch for you, me and the boys” he said in a questioning tone and I looked over at him with the smile on my face still present. “Really?” I ask with a small laugh “well I think that would be nice Mr. Pierce” I said respectfully and a smile broke out on his face and I watched him nod. “Alright, why don’t you finish breakfast and then mee

Standing up I stretch my arms above my head causing my back to pop and me to let out a satisfied groan at the release of my joints. Deciding to keep the long sleeve shirt on I change into a pair of plain black jeans, not needing to be real fancy for the restaurant making me feel slightly relieved along with the fact that my mother wouldn’t be going making some of the pressure fall from my shoulders. Walking into the bathroom I put my hair up into a ponytail before checking my face, I didn’t put makeup on this morning but my hair was down and covering most of my face and anything would probably be chalked up to a shadow if it was seen but if anyone realized anything nothing was said. The marks weren’t too bad, the fingerprints on my face were barely present but the bruises were there nonetheless, the mark of my mothers slap last night was closer to my ear so no one had realized it. Pulling out some concealer I begin putting it on my marks and blending it in with the rest of my skin

The next day came rather quickly leading me to where I am now, sitting in a boutique watching my mother try on wedding dress after wedding dress even though she has about six at home. When I brought that up she yelled at me, saying it was bad luck to wear the same wedding dress that was used for a previous collapsed marriage, but maybe if she stopped marrying men for their money it wouldn’t always be so bad. The boys had their tuxes fitted in another room until they were allowed in with us as well, all spread out across the room on the giant couches while I sat leaned forward on a separate chair my legs spread out a bit wearing black slacks and a blue blouse to look presentable as my mother put it. She stated before we left that if I wasn’t going to wear a dress I had to at least not look like a rat that had crawled out of the sewers trying to steal a diamond on its way across town so that I wouldn’t cover it in shit. Basically meaning if I didn’t look the part I would be a disgra

“The dress is nice” he whispered, stepping up behind me and grabbing my hair to move it over my shoulder to get full access to the back of the dress. “Please don’t tell anyone” I whispered and I watched him take a deep breath behind me as he pulled the zipper up his fingers lightly touching my skin as he went, sending a shiver up my spine. “I won’t I promise” he stated in full seriousness as he pulled my hair off my shoulder and smiled at the reflection in front of us. “You truly look beautiful though, scars and all” he whispered and I took a deep breath, a weird fluttering in my chest at his words. “Thank you” I whispered and he smiled as I looked at the dress falling over my body, it was a deep maroon shade the breasts were lightly exposed with a criss cross pattern over it the lining falling into a v-shape but not too low. The dress was long hitting the ground around me but there was a long slit on the right leg leading up close to my hip, it was exposing but not in a bad way

Hours passed, practicing places for seating and looking at the venue before going home and discussing the seating arrangement and the guest list for the fiftieth time making every part of me scream for an escape. By the time dinner came my mother was late doing something up stairs as the rest of us waited sitting at the table in an awkward silence until Mr. Pierce cleared his throat and turned his attention towards me. “Did you find a good dress for tomorrow?” he asked, trying to make small talk. “I did, thank you, the people there were very nice as well” I stated with a smile and his eyes widened. “Really? Your mother said it was the worst service she ever got” he said with an airy laugh and I nodded. “Mom’s not known for her patience, but for her meticulous nature” I said and he nodded along with my words. “And you boys, the tux’s fit well” he asked and all of the guys nodded in reply leaving us in silence as heels clicked from down the hall making there way to the dinning room

During this time period Julian has become ten times more protective over him, basically staying awake all night and day at his bed side so that no matter what Jace needs he'd get it. We sat through many levels of fustration as well. The screams of anger from him not being able to move correctly or him trying to hide the tears in his eyes from too much pain. And gods was he stubborn, never wanting to take a break, forcfully trying to push past every bit of pain to get back to how he should be, good enough to go into the fight. I scrunch my nose up and look away from him causing him to let out a small grunt before tickling my side causing my body to move on instinct a laugh ripping from my throat as I attempt to move his hands away from me.
