THREE WEEKS LATER

Nadia sipped her tea, dipping a cookie in her mouth as she flipped through the magazine in her hand. She had resorted to relaxing by one of the living room couches. Her side eye caught Xavier making his way to the door. He must have been engrossed in his thoughts to not have noticed her.

"Xavier!" She called out.

Xavier cursed under his breath and he let out a low sound that showed that his wolf was grumpy. He was in no mood to have any pretentious conversation. But then, he couldn't be pissed at his aunt.

Xavier faked a smile as he turned to her. "Good afternoon, aunt. I didn't see you there."
