So, I sort of come here often, sometimes I'd stop by at a restaurant or a coffee shop. I actually like the stuffs around here sooo, or probably because I'm used to this place I guess"
"Oh that's nice" "Yeah tanks, but that's not really what brought me here actually" "Oh" "Ok so, I'm currently working on a recent project right now and which of course is supposed to be top secret" he said with a serious look "Don't worry my lips are sealed" I said using my hand to draw an invisible zip sign in my mouth in demonstration "Lol, well, so I'm here to make some research and hopefully it would be worth it, cause it is a huge risk I'm taking here" "That's the main reason why I'm here, to do some investigation and all, but I just hope my best is actually enough," Elliot said and sighed. "Oh don't beat yourself to it, at least you're trying your best, you're not just sitting there and watching all this happen.. It's cool" Diana said, chuckling. "Well if I don't lose count you've complimented me for like a million times already you know " he said " Well actually you deserve it" she said in reply "Well thank you Milady, Your kind gestures is greatly appreciated" He said still smiling "And you're most welcome, " She replied. "Now back to the reason why I called out to you in the first place," "Oh yeah true, I remember you tapping my shoulder" "So, ummm actually my car broke down. just like half a mile from here and i was really hoping that maybe you'd know where a mechanic is nearby or maybe perhaps you know someone that repairs or anything" Eliot asked "Actually, Diana said while grinning, I think you asked the wrong person but fear not where's the car located, let's see what we can do about it" "It's just straight down...you know what let me just walk you down" "Yeah that will be a better idea" "Wait...do you know how to repair cars?" Elliot asked jokingly "Well not really, just that whenever my dad's car has faults he kinda repairs them himself he'd only take it to a professional when it's like above his capacity and I mean like really really above his capacity" I said and chuckled. "Well, that's cool, hardly will you see that nowadays" "No actually...not here, almost everyone here knows how to repair a thing or the other... I mean that's how we survive, we wouldn't have to depend on others...you get?" "Oh wow... that's cool, at least that also can be a means of survival too" "I know right...it always comes in handy like its about to now" I chuckled We kept on talking and discussing about how Hawthorne needs a savior especially for us who doesn't really have much to survive as we kept discussing I couldn't help but just stare at him and I kinda feel he has a connection with this place or probably because he deals much with Hawthorne that's why he's got to know so much about us or probably I'm just overthinking... "Oh well, here we are, this is the car I was talking about, Turns out as i was driving home I realized it's giving me some strange sounds but I was hoping I'd get home first then I'll call the mechanic to come pick it up or something" He explained "Ok, let's what we have here" I opened the car bonnet and try to see why the car broke down all of a sudden as I was checking out each section I noticed Elliot was just staring at me as if I'm about to perform a miracle or something...so funny, as I keep trying to figure out the problem it brought a nostalgic moment in my mind I remembered how my dad used to teach me when I was like seven, what each sections in a car bonnets stand for, how to fix them if it develops a problem, he would chase me around then just to make me stay and watch what he was doing and I guess that finally helped me one way or the other, I mean I'm here helping a celebrity, well not really a celebrity though, but I'm right here fixing his car which would have been impossible if my father didn't kind of force me to learn it then. Which It's kinda weird though, that should be a guys' work right? But anyways one of my skills came in handy I remembered vividly asking my daddy then how he knew how to do all that i was like "Daddy? Did you learn how to do all this or you brought it heaven" well that's because obviously because I was still small, back then my Dad was like "Oh my little chickpea," he said laughing out loud "Well I didn't bring them from heaven and let's just say I learnt it, it's just like how I'm showing you how to do all this, this was exactly how my Dad taught me too when I was about your age." He replied while he pulled me cheeks "Oh, and where did your father learn it from?" "Well, my father, who is now your grandfather, told me then that he also learnt it from his father and from his father's father and from his father's father's father." He said throwing little me up in the air "Ok...so is it like a family tradition?" I asked him while I'm trying to balance myself on his lap after I felt dizzy cause he threw me in the air "Well, you can call it a family tradition chickpea" he said while tickling my tummy "Daddy...stttoooppp" I cried out while laughing uncontrollably. It's been thirteen years now and it all felt like yesterday. "How's everything down there?" Elliot asked snapping me out of my thoughts "Oh yeah..well, it's going fine and i will be done in 5,4,3,2,1 gotcha and your car has been fixed" I said grinning widely. "Really, that was fast, you are one hell of a mechanic girl" he said smiling "I mean how did you go about it, what was wrong with this old hag" he asked "Turns out the engine was sputtering, you know just like we need air to breathe?" "Yeahh?" "So just like that, for an engine to run efficiently the right amount of air and fuel must mix and then burn within the combustion chamber. And in order for the engine to run effectively and correctly there are a number of components in the fuel and ignition systems that have to work in unison. And that is what I just fixed here." I said with so much pride in me."Hey girl, you need a special invitation to get up or you want me to get up there and beat your ass into it." Said Ary my landlady or let's just say my maternal figure "Do you really need to shout that much Ary? I'm awake already okay?" I said "You better be cause you know there's no time to waste here girl, so get up already" "Yeah yeah " I mumbled still on my bed "And yeah listen there's some sandwich here in the kitchen make sure you take some bite before you leave. And yeah, you still have the house key with you right?" " No I don't, you already collected it from me Ary when you lost yours like three days ago woman" I said grumbling "Oh yeah true, I'm leaving the one with me on the table right now, you can just put it under the doormat when you're leaving in case I come home early, which I doubt because I think I might be working a double shift today. Ok that's it, I'm out, make sure you lock the door, close the windows and the sandwiches must be gone before I come back...no
With soap all over my body, I tied my towel and went to the balcony to get myself some water to finish up. As soon as I was done, I picked up a pair of baggy jeans and a sweater to wear, went to the kitchen to quickly finish up the sandwiches and cleaned up the messes I made in the kitchen cause if Ary should come back to see all this, I am so dead. I hopped out of the house, closed the door and put the keys under the doormat as instructed, and made sure I didn't forget anything in the house. As I walked through the main door I asked myself "Did I forget anything?" "Naa, I don't think so" "Way to go girl" I said to myself as I hit the road hoping to see a brighter day ahead. As I left the house I started walking through the neighborhood hoping to see a bus that's gonna stop and I can manage to sneak in cause I ain't got no money right now and even if I do I'd rather save up than pay for any T fare and right now five different buses have passed and none stopped and I'm freezing al
By the time I reached Ember, the restaurant where I worked, two blocks away, I could feel a silver of sweat brushing my upper back. I dived into the delicious smell of burnt coffee and sweet pastries as I went through the back at the kitchen where I worked as a waiter. Hey Kira, I greeted with a smile as I entered the Kitchen. "Really Dia, you late again, the boss is fu****g mad and he wants you in his office right now, and trust me he isn't smiling, and when I said right now I mean RIGHT NOW" Oh great! I mumbled as I found my way to his office. And the one thing about my boss, he never smiles, goshh i can't believe how a human can do without even wearing the faintest of smile on his face, and whenever he's angry it's like an hot larva ready to blow out some Volcano, and the last time I saw him lashed out on Kira, trust me, it wasn't good he almost tore her into pieces but I guess it's my turn today. What a way to start the day. "Here goes nothing " I murmured to myself as I knocke
The day could not just get any longer and it seems like forever already cause I'm dying to get out of this horrible place as soon as I can. Finally the closing alarm rang as I attended to the last customer In Front of me and bursted out of the restaurant without looking back. I didn't even bother to say goodbye to Kira. I guess I will make up for that tomorrow morning. And as usual I started walking down the street back to my house. As I was going, all I could think of was what my boss said to me, and I just couldn't get them out of my head. I mean those words hurt like shit and if my mother hadn't died things wouldn't have been like this at least not this worse and a lil bit better. Then I decided to listen to some music in order to get those scenarios out of my head. I plugged in my earphone, scrolled down on my phone to find a song to listen to and I decided to play "A million dreams" by Hugh Jackman and i was singing along as i listened to the music " I close my eyes and I can se
