Pov caroline

Get out of here," I said with some difficulty. "No one can know it was you."

"I have to call Emily, she can help," Jade said nervously.

"No. You have to protect yourself, protect David. Get out of here, and create an alibi," I replied, full of pain.

She hesitated for a moment but ended up leaving.

I felt my body tingling, an unbearable pain seemed to mix with my blood.

I fell to the floor feeling every cell in my body contract and my head throbbing. I couldn't tell if my heartbeats were speeding up or stopping. Before, I could smell the bathroom; some product that had been poured there left the room smelling of lavender. Now, I couldn't smell anything anymore.

All I could think of was one thing: I have to say goodbye to my son.

I crawled to the door that Jade had left open and tried to stand up. Unsuccessfully. I held onto the wall and leaned on it until I reached the living room and my vision started to darken. I stopped, stood up, focused on breathing, and not losing c
