chapter one hundred and ten

POV Emily

I finished the cake and left it on the table. I wasn't going to listen to that kind of disrespect. I'm not to blame for anything. Maybe I made a mistake by not telling earlier, but I definitely wasn't to blame for losing the baby. I went to the pool to see Olivia, but she wasn't in the water. She was sitting in a chair, playing on someone's phone, probably Tyler's.

"Hey, sweetie," I called, catching her attention.

"Hi, Mom," she said, looking downcast.

"Why the gloomy face?" I asked, puzzled.

"I can't talk to David anymore," she replied sadly.

"You were talking to him?" I inquire.

"Yeah, his mom let him have his phone, but now he doesn't answer my calls," she crossed her arms, irritated.

"He's probably getting ready to come here. I invited Aunt Caroline to have lunch with us," I suggest.

"I've just lost my appetite," Jade says, approaching.

"If it makes you feel better, it's a strategy," I reply calmly.

"I prefer to go eat at the restaurant. Where's Justin?" Jade shrugs, not
