2024-05-10 03:53:02The night air still had a chilly quality- a feel that could now only be created with false oxygen and atmosphere to make it breathable - a small mercy afforded by PAVE headquarters. But who would monitor it without her there to run the old pumps?
"I can keep it active," a voice sounded as if inside Miakas head.
She turned to her side to see the most beautiful man to exist - maybe to have ever existed. He was tall, so very tall, but had the looks and appearance of a woman. One could be mistaken into believing it was a woman, had his Adams apple and deep, testosterone voice not given him away.
But, oh, his voice.
And his eyes. Blue as the oceans of old Earth.
He took a seat beside the healer.
"Go help the blind, Milo," he asked the teen gently. "While I entertain our very special guest."
'He knows I am a real female,' Miaka panicked.
"Alas, but I shall not tell a soul," he placated her, placing a finger gently on her lips.
At his touch, her skin tingled, as if she was melting, melting into a puddle at his feet.
Even his feet were perfect, but oh his eyes. They shone like two twin moons.
"Who are you?" was all she could summon to her slack lips.
"I am Vrethie," he said simply - his screen name. His real name showed up as REI, but who knew these days. Most chose their own names.
"I am Miaka," she replied dully.
"It is, erm, it's nice to meet you," she stammered, turning a shade of crimson she hadn't known could exist as a skin colour.
"Blush much," Milo teased her, looking jealous at her reaction to the older guy.
"He is an alpha you know... a wolf alpha... like you "little Luna."
Her original screen name always caused her to feel the heat rise in her cheeks.
"Wait," she cried, doing a double take, "You know I am a female?"
The three males at the table all laughed - a sound so loud it drew the attention of the blind rhinos and hyenas who sat cackling by the bar.
"Yes - you have the mammary glands!" the teen Milo said, pointing at her thinly veiled chest."Silly woman."
"But... but.. I am the last!" she intoned, taking in enough air to fill her sizeable chest. "How did you not.. not see... not..."
"Not what?" Eigen asked. "Hurt you?"
He smiled and swung back on the swing chair. "I will always protect you, my dear. They only know what I allow them to know."
After that, he said back with a huge smirky grin.
"Great," Miaka muttered, unable to argue, were it even possible to argue with a GOD of gods.
"These two boys are like you - Originals. Alphas," he revealed.

Miaka woke to an unfamiliar scent - one of coffee and burning foodstuffs. Bread and jam and cereal and porridge oats.
