Surge

CADEL'S POV

I could feel myself drowning but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get to the surface.

The water surged around me, pressing me down even more and I struggled to breathe.

Was I really dying?

Just then, a ray of light pierced through the deep depth of the waters, calling out to me.

A voice surrounded me, filling my ears and blocking out any other thoughts and I desperately tried to get towards the ray of light when I realized that the voice I was hearing was Anne's.

After much struggle, I finally got close and the rays of light enveloped me.

My eyes fluttered open and the bright room immediately stung them so I closed them back again and tried to open them slowly so I could adjust them to the light.

After a short while, I finally opened them and the first thing I noticed was Anne sitting on the sofa across the room.

Her head was lowered but I could still hear her voice.

She seemed to be talking to me.

I opened my mouth and after what seemed like an ardously long moment
