Chapter 2 - Sarah

When it finally did finish, I was eager to go home. I picked up my notes and got up, but a hand fell on my shoulder as I was about to start walking. I felt tingles coming from that touch. When I turned around, I saw Sam with the biggest smile on his face.

“Hey! Sarah, it is, right?” He asked with a deep voice.

“Yes, it is, and you’re Sam?” I asked him in reply, as if I didn’t remember his name.

I mean the guy is gorgeous! I had a hard time concentrating the whole meeting, my eyes just kept coming back to him all the time. I was trying not to drool on the desk.

He laughed a little before answering, “Yeah that’s right. So… I couldn’t help noticing you looking at me earlier.”

Oh crap! I thought to myself. And here I managed to make myself look like a fool on my first day. So much for a first impression. I tried to make it as if it wasn’t true, even though it must have been so obvious.

“Hum … well I was hum … trying to get to know everyone in the room.” I answered, not really believing my answer myself.

He gave me a “yeah right” kind-of-look while smiling. He knew it wasn’t true as much as I did.

He just looked at me with his beautiful eyes and asked, “Well, this meeting took longer than expected, so would you like to come and eat with me?”

My eyes opened wide as I wasn’t expecting this at all. My cheeks blushed a little as I shyly said, “Yes that sounds like a good idea.”

I went back to my desk to pick up my things. I made my way to the reception desk. He was there waiting for me, with a grin on his face. I didn’t know any restaurants nearby, but Sam told me he knew a few good ones.

We went down the elevator and got to his white elegant car. He opened the front door for me, and I got in. My heart was racing but I was trying to keep it cool and calm myself a little.

I mean it’s only a meal at the restaurant, with a guy that I’ve just met. It’s not like it was a date, right? I don’t even know if he’s single or not! I shouldn’t jump to conclusions. But for some reason, my heart seemed to think this was much more.

He got into the car, and with him being this close to me, I felt like melting. He looked at me and asked, “Are you ready?”

Ready for what? I didn’t really know what to answer and I just looked at him with a bewildered look.

“Are you ready to go eat?” He asked again, “You didn’t even buckle your seatbelt so I was wondering if you would get out of the car running or something,” he added with a grin.

As he said that he leaned to my side and buckled my seatbelt for me. He was so close; I could smell his perfume. The only thing I had on my mind was to kiss him and I had to stop myself from doing it. What the hell did that guy do to me?

As he sat back up straight in his seat, is hand touched my arm, and I swear I could feel electricity passing through us. He started the car and we drove a few blocks to a nice-looking restaurant.

As we entered the restaurant, the smell of food hit my nose, making me even hungrier than I was before. The lights were dimmed, giving a nice cozy feeling. Music was playing softly in the background. It was loud enough for you to hear, or to fill a silence, but soft enough for you to have a conversation without having to shout.

The waiter took us to our places and took our order. We drank some wine while waiting on our orders, chatting about the weather and the news. None of us really dared to venture into deeper subjects yet.

The food was great! By the time we finished eating, we had the time to drink a couple of glasses of wine. From the way Sam stared at me, he was ready for more than small talks.

“So, Sarah, tell me a little more about yourself,” he asked me, looking me in the eyes.

“Well, I’m twenty-five, just moved to Montréal. I’m really looking forward to this new game.”

“Oh, you just moved. Do you live with your parents? With your boyfriend perhaps?”

“No, I don’t have a boyfriend.” I answered, “What about you?”

“Me? No, I don’t have a boyfriend either.” He said teasingly while laughing.

“Hey!” I answered while pouting my lips.

Sam burst out laughing and I couldn’t keep a straight face.

“I’m just kidding you,” he said with a wink, “I’m twenty-seven years’ old. I live in an apartment on the south shore of Montréal. And I don’t have a girlfriend, in case you were wondering.”

Yes! I thought to myself. He’s available!

“I like to take walks in the forest and love to go out for a run.” He added. “How about you?”

“I really like to go out in nature too.” I answered. “I love to go hiking and I would love to try rock-climbing too.”

We talked for a long time, it went on and on, the whole evening was simply perfect. I just met Sam today, but I felt like I knew him for a long time. I was so drawn to him; it was driving me crazy.

After the meal, we went for a small walk in the park. My head was turning a little from the wine, so Sam stayed close to me to make sure I was fine. Or at least, that’s the excuse he used to get this close and keep an arm around my waist. Not that it bothered me. I enjoyed his proximity.

I loved to feel the warmth of his body so close. I rested my head on his shoulder as we were walking. My body just wanted more. But I had to remind myself that this was not supposed to be a date (even if it did look like that a lot).

And even if it was a date, it was a “first date” so I had to stay focused and push away what my body wanted to do.

The evening was getting late, so Sam offered to drop me off at my apartment. Which I really appreciated as I didn’t want to take the subway and walk all alone that late at night. We drove the few blocks to my apartment. Sam parked the car and looked at me.

“I really had a great time tonight Sarah.”

I smiled, “Yeah me too, really.”

My heart was beating fast and I could feel the tension building up between us. He leaned up to me and brushed a soft kiss on my lips. His lips were so soft, and I wanted more. Before he moved back, I kissed him back. Slowly he put his hand in my hair and his tongue made way in my mouth. We stayed like that, tasting each other again and again.

My body was reacting to his touch like I’ve never felt before. I wished for this moment to never end but he eventually broke the kiss.

Breathless, he looked at me and said, “I really had a great time. I hope we get to do this again another time.”

I looked at his beautiful green eyes, where I can easily lose myself.

“Yes definitely, we’ll do that again.”

He smiled at my answer as I got out of the car and went to my apartment.

This first day at work turned out to be so much more than I expected! I went straight to bed. Sam was the last thing on my mind as I fell asleep, with a smile on my face.

What a day! Finding my mate was never something that worried me. A lot of my family found their mates early on. Some of my friends were teasing me as I was getting older. I knew that one day it would come. But I didn’t expect to find her today! I still remember waiting in that meeting for everyone to come. When I smelled her, I just knew. One word repeated in my brain: mate. My wolf knew it was her, he wanted out. When she came in the room, she looked at me. Her brown hair coming at her shoulders. She had the most beautiful hazel eyes. From the look she gave me, I knew that she felt it too. She was human, I couldn’t smell any wolf in her. I would have to take it slow with her; I don’t know how she’ll react when she finds out what I am. But today was great! I didn’t expect her to accept going to the restaurant with me but I’m so glad she did! And that feeling when our lips touched, I don’t even know how to d

The day was going fine but the development of the new game was going slower than anticipated. I had to sit in with many developers trying to explain why we were behind schedule. Keven was the lead developer on that game. He was also Marissa’s mate. Keven was always a little distant, a little different from other wolves in our pack. But overall, Keven was a good guy, working hard on the software development team. “Listen, we just have a little more bugs than anticipated,” he told me. “The new dev, he’s having problems but he’s learning. Just give us a little more time and we’ll get the game ready.” He assured me. “Fine Keven, I trust you.” He gave me a smile and said, “Thanks, you won’t regret it.” And then he left my office. The day was coming to an end, when suddenly, I felt fear in my heart! Something was wrong with Sarah, our bond as mates was strong enough that I could feel it. I ran to he

Sunbeams were coming between the curtains. I woke up and realized I was curled up in Sam’s arms. I smiled at that though. I could feel his warmth breath on my neck. His unique scent was strong, and it smelled so good. I was feeling safe and peaceful. My heart was beating fast for him. I couldn’t believe how nice and affectionate he was with me. What did I do to get a guy like him? I smiled as I remembered how cute it was when he called me “babe” yesterday. My hands started to roam his body slowly without me even thinking about it. A soft smile appeared on Sam’s lips as he opened his eyes. “Hey babe. Slept well?” I smiled back, “Your arms are the best place to sleep in.” He seemed pleased by my answer and laughed a little. He put his hand in my hair and gently played with loose strands. I brought my mouth closer to his and kissed him, biting his lower lip. His fingers slid on my skin, making goosebumps rise wherever they w

This last sentence made me smile, how sweet. He was right, I would be safer with him rather than alone. But I’m not five years old, I can take care of myself, right? I mean it’s not like I really knew how to fight. But there’s nothing at my apartment threatening me. Even if I felt frightened, I wanted to get home tonight. I will see him tomorrow anyways, I thought to myself. I wrote to him, “Well I want to get stuff at my apartment, and get my head together on everything that’s happening, so I think I’ll get home instead for tonight. I’ll think about you for sure, we can see each other tomorrow.” This time a few minutes passed before I received a reply, and I was getting a little worried if he was going to respond or not. “Okay baby, then let me walk with you to the subway before you leave at the end of your day. I want to kiss you goodnight.” I couldn’t hold a smile at that thought. “Of course, I wouldn’t miss th

So, I’ll leave you two alone and see you tomorrow.” He turned around without waiting for an answer, waving goodbye and leaving me alone with Sam. As soon as Zach was gone, two strong arms encircled me. Sam was fully dressed now. “I was so scared. I thought I lost you.” He rested his head on my shoulder and gave me a kiss on the neck, letting his lips stay there a few seconds. I could feel his heart beating strong in his chest. I felt truly loved in his arms. I had so many questions, I didn’t know where to start. He broke the silence first. “Were you

We drove in silence to my place. Sarah was looking out the window, staring. I could feel she had a lot on her mind. I knew she needed this time to think so I just drove. The attack earlier was still fresh in her mind for sure, and it was fresh on my mind as well. I’ve never been so scared in my life, to lose someone so dear to me. My wolf was still feeling uneasy, I needed Sarah to be with me, to touch her, to feel that she was fine. I’ve been keeping my wolf in check, taking quick looks at Sarah while driving, a reminder that she was there, right beside me. It did help to know that she was coming to stay at my place for a few days. I prayed to the moon goddess that Sarah will want to stay with me more than just a few days. And I prayed that she wouldn’t reject me, now that she knew I was a wolf. So far, it wouldn’t seem so, but I hoped she would not reject me as a mate because of what I was. We arrived at my place

“Took you long enough,” Zach told me with a smirk when I opened the door. “Hi Sarah,” he added looking at her. “Hey Zach,” she answered while going to get a cup of coffee. Her hair was messed from our making out. It must be quite obvious what we were up to. I wished no one would see her that way other than me. As she passed in from of him, Zach took a smell of Sarah’s scent and a look at her mark. He looked at me with a big smile on his face. “Congratulations man! It’s finally official.” He said to me. “Thanks man.” I answered, “Couldn’t be happier.” Sarah went on to tidy up her hair and came back looking radiant, as always. I couldn’t believe how pretty she looked. “As long as you’re happy.” Zach continued, “This is not for me. I like to taste girls, I’m in no hurry to settle down.” I laughed a little. “As always, but you’ll see one day, you’ll find a girl that will tame you.” “I g

I opened my eyes. The car was slowing down, turning into a big mansion’s parking lot. I turned to look at Sam.“Hey sleepyhead,” he said with a smile, that same smile that melts my heart every time I see it.“Hey Sarah! You missed all the fun,” Zach said to me.He looked excited like a kid.“Hey guys! Sorry, I didn’t realize I was this tired!”They both laughed as Sam finished parking the car. “Here we are!” he told me.I looked outside; the mansion was enormous. I think I’ve never seen a house this big, well other than in movies.“Wow! ************ Sarah’s POV ************A lot had happened since that day. After the battle we went back to Sam’s parents’ house. We were injured but we were fine. They sent some members of the pack to clean up the mess and then seal the sepulcher, hoping no one would have the idea to go there again. With the respect gained from the fight, and the courage and strength that he showed, it was decided Sam would become the Alpha. His father stepped down as the Alpha and began teaching his son, showing him what it means to be a good Alpha. I had no doubts he would do great. As for myself, Sam’s mom has been teaching me what it means to be a Luna.At work, we had to think of a reason for Marissa and Keven not to show up at work anymore. We’ve told the other employees that they had decided to go live abroad and couldn’t work for us anymore. Of course, employees that were members of the pack knew the truth, b

I heard Sarah say, “You’re wrong. Humans are not weak. We have our place in the pack with the others. What we lack in physical strength, we compensate in our hearts.” I didn’t want her to speak and get attention on her. But it was too late. Georges was coming her way. He spoke with hatred in the eyes, “You fool…” nothing more was said, and I knew he was coming for her. I stepped in his way just in time to stop him. His punch was so strong I fell to the floor. My leg was hurting from the fight with Keven. “You annoying bastard.” Georges told me and then changed into his wolf form as I followed him and changed too. With the demon’s power absorbed, he was much bigger and stronger than me, even if he didn’t have Alpha blood. That fight was going to be challenging. ************ Sarah’s POV ************ A silent filled the room as Georges and Sam turned to their wolf form, preparing to battle. Everybody stopped fighting

It took us a little longer than expected to find the entrance. There were a few guards, but we dealt with them. A good portion of the pack was there. We were a good team of wolves and humans, all together to find Sarah. There was this long corridor and at the end seemed to be a big room. I could hear sounds coming from it. That’s when she spoke to me, that’s when I heard her saying she was going to die. I couldn’t hold my wolf anymore. I turned into my wolf form and ran as fast as I could. Zach knew what it meant. He led the pack towards the room, behind me. As I arrived in the room, I saw Sarah on an altar at the center, Keven was about to stab her with a dagger in the chest. I let Zach and the pack deal with the wolves that were all around the room. I jumped between Keven and Sarah with a threatening growl. There was no way I was letting him harm my mate. “It’s okay babe, I’m here.” I told Sarah through her mind. She opened he

I took my phone out and tried to call Sarah but got no answer. Then I tried to concentrate and to her through her mind, but it didn’t work. That wasn’t normal, that wasn’t good. Our bond was strong, it was easy to talk to her through my mind. If that wasn’t working, then there was a problem. “Zach, we need to go, something’s wrong with Sarah. We need to find her, now.” Zach stood up and said, “Don’t worry man, we’ll find your mate. I have a hunch I know just where to search for her.” I looked at him. I knew exactly what he had in mind, the ruins of the ancient pack. Keven was seen with other wolves searching for the sepulcher of Eurynomos. Of course, that’s where he would have taken her. I didn’t know why he would bring her there, but whatever the reason, I only knew it wasn’t a good thing. My wolf wanted to come out so bad. But I knew we needed to go by car, it would be way faster than to run as a wolf. I kept him under

Itwas Monday morning already. I felt like the sun rose too early, I could have stayed in bed for a few more hours. But after an extra-long weekend, I needed to get ready for work. I kissed Sam and hugged him tight, breathed his scent of a man that I love so much. I went to get dressed. It was supposed to be a beautiful sunny day today, so I decided to put on my lovely white summer dress with red flowers on it. I loved this dress so much! It was mostly white on top, with no sleeves. Then on the way down, it became flowy with flowers. I thought it was quite elegant and fun at the same time. I got my hair up in a bun and looked around to see Sam staring at me. “Wow! You are too pretty to go to work,” he said in a husky voice as he got close to me. I blushed at his comment and laughed. “Thanks, but you know we need to go, right?” He nodded even though I knew he wished we could take more days off instead of going to work

I was happy with his answer, but still feeling a little annoyed. My wolf hadn’t calmed down yet. All my instincts were telling me to give her a proper lesson as to how to talk to my mate. But then again, I had to remind myself that Sarah was not a wolf. She was not used to our laws and I didn’t want to do that in front of her unless really necessary. I decided to thrust that Georges would take care of his daughter. “Let that be my final warning.” I told him still projecting my Alpha authority on them. As future Alpha, I shouldn’t have to demonstrate my dominance unless someone would challenge my dad and then me for the lead of the pack. I was stronger than the rest of the wolves and the strength of the Alpha was running in my blood since I was the Alpha’s son. Sarah took my hand and all of my anger disappeared. “Come honey,” she told me softly, “Let’s go see your mother before it’s time for us to go back home.” She was ri

We cuddled on the border of the water, watching the waterfall and kissing softly for a while. The sun was going down and we could already see the first stars coming out. The night sky was perfect, and the fireflies were flying in the low grass, creating a fairy-tale play of lights. Sitting there in this magical moment with her, Sarah started to kiss me more intensively and to walk my body with her hands. I could smell her pheromones rising. It was driving my wolf crazy. We took off our clothes and made love under the starry sky, sharing this intimate moment together. When at last she was sated, shouting my name and moaning from pleasure, I let myself come, also reaching my peak. We stayed together for a few minutes, two perfectly matched bodies, lying under the moonlight. “Oh my god Sam! This moment couldn’t be more perfect.” “You’re right babe, I love you so much.” We got dressed again and went back to my parent’s home. By the time we

  • The prophecy   Chapter 17 - Sam

I was taken aback by this name. Eurynomos was an ancient demon creature that was said to feast on flesh and blood and to creep upon the earth killing whoever he seemed fit. He was defeated centuries ago by the moon goddess and was sealed in a sepulcher, never to return. “What?” I asked, “Why would anyone want to find his sepulcher?” My father raised his shoulders. “That, we still don’t know, but, while Zach was there, he came across Keven.” I didn’t really know what to think of that. Keven was someone I considered a friend. Why was he there? This was strange news to me. Members of our pack and Keven were apparently trying to find the sepulcher of an ancient demon. It raised so many questions! That was surely related to the prophecy but why did our own pack would want to make the prophecy come true? I was lost in my thoughts when my father spoke, “I know this is a lot to take in. Zach was able to go there and come

I woke up still holding Sarah in my arms. Everything I needed was right there. If only I could make this moment last forever. I was enjoying watching her sleep and breathing in her sweet smell of peach. I could never have enough of her. Sure enough, I could smell her pheromones, even as she slept. Those pheromones that have such a big effect on me. I knew what she would need when she would wake up and would be glad to give it to her. I was feeling bad since I was away last night as the heat first struck her. But I wouldn’t let that happen another time, I will stay with her as much as she needs. Every she-wolf or woman I know that experienced heat said the same thing: it gets unbearable if your mate is away and I really didn’t want her to experience this pain. I would just need to stay with her until the heat is over. Which wouldn’t be hard to do because her pheromones irresistibly attracted my wolf in a way
