I start awake at the feeling of somebody approaching me. They got closer than I thought they would before I notice them. Still feigning sleep, I reach out with my senses and try to glean some information on who they actually are. Judging by the confident walk and the better than everyone attitude that I am getting from this person, it has to be Morden coming to visit me finally. She stops next to the cage, studying it closely. Tutting, she says, "You know that I can sense that you are awake right? You might as well give up the act now and get up."Guess I should have expected that. Still, I was hoping that I could learn something from her before she found out that I was already awake. I am going to do everything that I can to come out on top of each encounter that I have with her.Sitting up, I turn and look at her. The sun is just rising behind her which makes it a little harder to see her face. I am sure that she planned it that way but I will not even give her the satisfaction of
After a few hours of lounging in my new abode, the hunger pains finally begin creeping in. They brought me here in the afternoon yesterday and I have not eaten yet. Of course, I have ways of getting food without relying on them but I was sincerely hoping that somebody would have enough heart to bring me a meal.Walking up my stairs, I sigh as I reach the sunlight. It is a truly beautiful day outside right now which makes the boredom lesson slightly. I startle a little when I notice that I am not alone. Apparently, the earth did not wish to give me the warning that it so helpfully gave me earlier."Hello Laina." The woman says softly, stepping out of the shadows of a nearby tree.I incline my head to her the slightest amount and say, "Rosa."I watch her as she shifts uncomfortably in front of me. She does not seem like she was injured in any way or even forced here. Morden made it seem a while ago like she learned about Rosa but judging by what I see in front of me, it does not seem li
It has been almost a week since I arrived here. The first day both Morden and later Rosa visited me. Since then, I have had no visitors at all unless you can count a few birds. I have not been this lonely since I found the pack and my mate. The feeling is soul wrenching but I still manage to find ways to make it just a little easier. I set a routine that I follow everyday. I wake up as the sun comes up and begin doing what I remember from the brief period of yoga that I did. After the yoga, I go upstairs and gather some more food for breakfast. Each day the food varies in variety a small amount but each day I end up full. This is the only time of day that I gather food as I am always gifted with enough to last the entire day. After I eat, I begin to go over some of my magic lessons as my food settles. I only do this for about an hour before going back to my physical training. The first part of my training is solely cardio and weight training. I do not work with the practice dummy unt
The day after I finally get a message out via bird, Morden finally comes back for another visit. Honestly, I expected to see her here gloating long before now. She looks around at what I have done and sneers up at me."I see you made yourself at home here. Or, you made yourself a home." She says sounding rather upset."Why? I thought that you told me to get comfortable because I would be here for a while? I just followed your advice." I say innocently."Humph, not exactly what I meant. I guess I can see why everybody is so bent on protecting you though. This is impressive work. I do not really see much reason to keep you out here if you are just going to give yourself this nice of accomodations. Then again, I really do not want you in the house with us either so I think that you can stay here for just a little longer still." She says.I shrug my shoulders like the idea does not bother me much. I can see her eyes unfocus a bit and a slight grin pull at the edges of her mouth. She most
As I unfurl the short message that I received back, I can feel my eyes start to fill with tears. I did not realize just how much I was counting on their reply until it was in front of me. There are only two sentences on the paper. They read:I know where you are, we are preparing. Should arrive in a week, be ready. One week. Just one week and I might be getting out of here. I will have to start getting stuff ready for a battle when it comes time to leave. I might not have anything to pack but I could always make some weapons and hide them down below for when it is time for us to fight our way out of here.Heading back down with a purpose, I am slightly dismayed to see that Morden took the opportunity to partially collapse my mock bedroom while she was here. I made one closer to the stairs so that she would not think to look further down. She fell for it which makes me smile even more as I clear it up before heading down to my real living room.I call forth some stronger sticks that I
After Rosa leaves, nobody else stops to visit for a few days. In fact, I am beginning to wonder if anybody is going to come and see me before Elle gets here. That is too easy of course, and Morden comes to see me before long."I see that you are getting further with your little hovel of a house. Planning to stay for a while I take it?" She asks me snidely."Just figured that as long as I am here I might as well be comfortable. You seem to be rather content to just leave me in here. If I am going to be here I will relax while I can. I am sure you agree that running a group of people can be rather exhausting. At least, I do not expect that running a coven is any easier than running a pack of wolves. Maybe not quite as rambunctious but still not easy." I say conversationally."If you keep talking to me this way I will begin to think that you are getting lonely. Do I need to send someone here to talk to you each day?" She says with mock sincerity."Nah, that's alright. You do not seem to
That night, I did in fact dream of the Moon Goddess once again. I am in the woods this time, standing in the middle of a clearing. All around me are wildflowers and a few large boulders that I can sit on if I wish. Before I get the chance to move to one, I hear her voice once again, "Welcome, child. Are you ready to learn the last bit about unlocking your power?" So, this is it then. This is the last lesson before I am expected to take on the Coven? "I guess." I answer unsure."No, yes or no. Not I guess. You need to be sure. Are you ready to do what needs to be done to keep your pack, your family safe? Are you ready to ensure that all others like you are able to survive in the future?" She asks once again."Yes." I say without hesitation. When she says it that way it is all but impossible to deny. I have been wanting to be able to create a peaceful future for my family since my parents were killed. If this is the only way that that will ever happen then yes, I am ready."Good. If
Looking around in awe at the devastation that I caused in my sleep, I find that even the wards that kept me locked in are no longer here. I can move about completely on my own now. If I wanted to just leave and go to my pack then I would have no issues getting away before they noticed. But, then I would not be able to do what I have been instructed to do. I would not be able to secure a future for me and my family if I leave now. I have to make a statement. I have to prove that I belong here. That my family is better than whatever these witches are making us out to be. Now, how do I want to go about my next steps? I did not plan on my cage being obliterated in the middle of the night. I could go back downstairs and wait for somebody to come and find the cage. I could also hide in a tree and take them by surprise when they come looking for me.Then again, I think I know what I want to do. I keep getting told that it is time that I take the fight to them so that is exactly what I am go
