Megan’s POV“I can’t believe that dad would just throw everything we’ve worked for all these years under the bus”As soon as Alex left the mansion this morning, I got a call from the secretary at the office informing me of the decision to make Brittany the new CEO. How could dad do that to me? Thought it was a joke until I turned on the tv to see the news of Brittany taking over as the new CEO of the Song’s Jewelry group of company. Mum invested everything in the company’s success before she died and then it was a known fact that I was supposed to take over being that I had more experience than Brittany. I worked hard for the company after mother died and I’ve longed prepared herself for the role of CEO, why do I always have to be at the loosing end?. I should go see dad, surely he’d have a good reason for making Brittany the CEO, is he even supposed to be making company decisions on his sick bed?I changed my outfit, grabbed my car keys and then headed straight to the hospital. M
Megan's head snapped towards the footsteps that were approaching the door, she quickly stood up Dusting off the imaginary dirt that had settled on her skirt. The hospital door burst open making Megan almost hiss at the figure that appeared before her.“I take it that you are not very pleased to see me. Evelyn's lips curled into a smug smile”. As her tone dripped with condescension.“Oh! Did I make it that obvious?” Megan gritted her teeth as she looked at Evelyn with loathe. She still couldn't believe that Evelyn and her father were having a relationship, Even before her mother had died.Evelyn paused looking at Megan with a deadly gaze, how she hated her. She may look like her father but she definitely had the wittiness of her damn mother. She thought silently within her.“Let's make peace, your father is on the sick bed and needs us now more than ever”. Her lips curled into a delicate smile that didn't reach her eyes.“Peace? Megan repeated the word with a flared nose. Isn't it unbel
The whirring of the machine was so loud that Evelyn almost couldn't hear herself mumble. "What are you living for?" She sneered at the unconscious man. She had an ugly scowl on her face. Evelyn didn't want her husband to live, she would be better off with Brittany if he never woke up and she took over his properties and all his wealth. She wasn't sure of what his will would be and she didn't just want to wait to find out, she wanted to make sure everything favored her and her daughter. Looking at Leonard who was just at the edge, barely living, she didn't feel any sort of mercy or pity for him. Lloyd had only done her a favor by hitting him on the head and she wished that he'd just died when he did. "I will help your son finish the work that he started, no one wants you alive anyways, Brittany and I will do very well without you," she said and with that, she walked to him and yanked off the oxygen mask. Immediately, Leonard began to gasp for breath, shaking vigorously on the bed.
Anna rose from the chair at the bar and dropped her glass on the table. She didn't feel anything for Leon but possessiveness. She wanted to own him and she didn't ever want him to get over her. She walked briskly to the entrance of the bar and saw them hand in hand, heading to the hotel that was just across the street. Anna scowled and looked at them with rage. Anna had been at the club and watched him drink his life away and it gave her some sort of satisfaction, to know that he was still grieving her and couldn't get over her. Seeing him with someone else locking lips made her furious. "Lloyd can't get over me, he doesn't deserve to be happy without me," she sneered with anger. Although she didn't have any intentions of getting back together with him - Brittany was now her new lesbian lover and she'd instructed her to cut ties with any such love interest. She hasn't loved Lloyd to begin with, she was only interested in his money and power. But now, he has clearly moved on from he
Alex and Megan sat at the dinning table with Alex’s uncle Sullivan and his wife Shayna. They felt like having a family time before the two men leaves for work. Alex was already dressed in his well tailored Oliver Smith's navy blue suit, perfectly fitted to his build, a white shirt adorned with a silver tie to complement the suit. While uncle Sullivan on the other hand is putting on a gray sweatshirt with shorts, he is yet to be dressed for work. The ladies Shayna and Megan were still on their night wear respectively. As they sat around the table Alex and Megan shared a meal of freshly baked croissants with steaming hot coffee for Alex.Sullivan indulged in bacon and scrambled eggs, while his wife Shayna is having baguette butter and fresh berries. Alex and Megan are chatting animatedly, suddenly Megan let out a giggle, she slapped Alex’s shoulder catching the attending of Sullivan and Shayna. Shayna jumps into the conversation, her voice holding some sort of amusement “Would you guy
With Alex sudden confession on the love he has for Megan, Brittany was taken aback. She felt like she has been punched in the gut, her mind reeling with the realization that Alex had not only moved on but she he has also found the love of his life. She thought that Alex would be single for a very long time because she had left Alex broken after she dumped him at the altar. She felt defeated but she could not let the news of Alex finally ready to settle down weigh down on her. Just as she was about to give up on the conversation, she remembers something she could use against Alex.“For someone that keeps to himself a lot you have a terrible of closing losses ends”Brittany let’s out a small wicked giggle making Alex wonder what she was talking about. His business are siesta private and he makes sure to take care of them himself.“What the hell are you talking about this time around?”Brittany makes a tsk sound with a tongue.“I’m talking about Megan’s best friend and her lover Jackson”
Alex bursts into a wicked laughter, making Brittany wonder why the sudden change of emotion. She doubts Megan already knows about the incident but she is not one hundred percent sure if she knows. What if she already knows? She asks her self or what if Alex just wants to play a game with her making her seem silly. Alex breaks the silence, this time his voice sounding firmer than before when he had just found out that Brittany knew about the incident with his best friend Jackson and his lover“You always sound delusional, has anyone ever told you that you would like a maniac?”Brittany was taken aback by the sudden turn of events but she was not going to let Alex win. She smiles softky at him matching his now intimidating aura.Brittany stands from the table, making an attempt to survey the office looking round but there was not much to see anymore as she had already done that before Alex came to work this morning. She still made her way to the opposite side of the table anyways, final
Alex drove home, racing calmly along the winding ribbon of asphalt. He couldn't take his mind off what had happened between him and Brittany, it was either that or he lost Megan forever. The rhythmic hum of the engine and the thrum of tires against pavement did little to calm his racing thoughts. He gripped the steering wheel tighter, knuckles whitening, as if the act alone could anchor him in reality. He drove into the mansion and couldn't even hear when the security greeted him.“Welcome home babe”, Megan, who had been waiting up late for him, smiled. The smile that always gives him joy and peace. He had hoped she would be asleep once he returned. He had intentionally returned late to avoid her.“Why are you still up?” He questioned with an unshielding coldness.“I thought to wait for you”. Megan replied reluctantly wondering why Alex was suddenly void towards her.“Don't wait for me next time. I will be coming home late often because of work”. His voice held no warmth, no trace of
Mr. Leonard’s footsteps echoed softly as he descended the stairs, his eyes were dull as he scanned the room. Alex, Megan, Enzo, and Loyd stood, all eyes on him. Jake clung to his mother's side, his small hand gripping hers tightly."Jake," Leonard said softly, stepping forward with a smile. “You look so much like your mother.” Megan swallowed, her lips pressed tightly together, but she didn’t respond. Her grip on Jake’s hand tightened as Leonard reached out to touch the boy’s face. Jake smiled a little but moved behind his mother to hide. He knew Grandpa hurt mum, so he was also angry.Leonard’s hand dropped slowly, hurt. “Maybe I deserve that,” he murmured, sighing as he pulled back. Enzo cleared his throat as dinner was served and they all moved to the table, sitting in silence as the sound of cutlery clinking on dishes became the only noise. After a long pause, Leonard cleared his throat and looked up at his children. “I know I wasn’t a good father.”Loyd scoffed, muttering under
Two years later.Things may have seemed like they will never go back to normal for Megan, it was from one trouble to another bigger one. However it says with trouble comes ease.Megan stood in front of the crystal like window as she admired the light blue sky. How she wishes she could just stand here forever. As it reminded her of her better and bad Days.“Mummy, we are going to be late, daddy is waiting”. Little Jake, who was not so little anymore, bugged his mother with his sharp and piercing tone.Yes, Megan and Alex got married last year and they have been happy together. You might wonder what happened to Evelyn and Brittany. Well Evelyn was dead obviously. However Brittany's life never remained the same. She got depressed and started taking drugs, Mr Leonard still considered her his daughter so he sent her to rehab.“Oh, baby, Megan's face lit up with a smile. How she loved this little boy. Mummy is done already, let's go”. She grabbed onto his hands and moved towards the living
Life can be unpredictable right. Evelyn was still dazed, it felt as though her legs couldn't move.“No,no that is not true, she sniffed hard. It's not true. He died, I was winning and all of you were my puppets, everything was going according to my grand plan”. She kept emphasising on her words while pointing at Leonard.“Shut up woman, he interjected. I was never dead even if you did everything possible to get me out of the way. I heard the things you said to me while I was unconscious”.Evelyn gasped for the upteenth time. “How is this possible?” However instead of feeling remorse for her evil activities, she felt nothing but anger. It brewed slowly inside of her that it made her burst.“It's all your fucking fault. Did you think after how you betrayed me I will just let you into my life again. I accepted you because of your wealth and what you had to offer to our daughter”.“And I killed your wife to make sure nothing gets in my way again but your stupid witch of a daughter just ha
Brittany was feeling feverish, a feeling that what she was doing wasn't good. However her urge to have Alex just to herself was even greater.“It's too bad we have to get separated in this way, Meg”. Evelyn whispered to Megan as she finally cocked her gun and pointed it at her.“Please, Megan begged weakly. I will go far away with my son and never return”. Jake was the only person she could think of at that moment. She needed to keep him away from harm.“It's too late darling, Evelyn sucked her lips showing false sympathy. You should have disappeared when you had the chance”. She said with a glint in her eyes.“Don't worry meg, Brittany is going to take care of him and Alex”. Evelyn pointed the gun at Megan, this time with the intent of pulling the trigger. She has said all that needed to be said. While Brittany watched with mixed feelings.Everything seemed to be in slow motion to Megan. The moment felt like an eternity. The air grew thick and heavy, pressing against her chest, maki
The fear in Megan's heart was sharp, her pulse quickening as Evelyn stood over her, gun in hand, her expression twisted with a mixture of anger and satisfaction.Brittany stood nearby, her posture tense, her face a mask of conflicting emotions. Megan could see the hesitation in her sister’s eyes, a flicker of uncertainty that was an opposite of the cold malice she had shown earlier. But there was no time to dwell on it. Not with Evelyn so close, her finger poised on the trigger.“Stay out of this, Brittany,” Evelyn snapped, her voice hard and cold. “You’re just as stupid as Sonia was, and that’s why she’s dead.”Evelyn’s words cut through the air like a knife, and Megan’s heart lurched. She looked at the woman closely, wondering if she'd just misheard. Did she just admit to knowing about her mother's death? “What do you know about my mother's death? Megan asked with a shaky voice. She watched as Evelyn struggled to maintain her composure, her hand shaking slightly as she pressed the
consciousness crept back into her mind. The pounding in her head was unbearable, a dull ache that intensified when she tried to open her eyes. “Damn," she hissed as the migraine hit her in full force. She felt like her head was splitting in half and she couldn't even help it. “Where am I?" She muttered as she turned. She blinked several times, trying to adjust to the dim light filtering through the room. It was then that the cold, hard reality hit her—she was tied tightly to a chair, her wrists and ankles bound with rough rope that dug into her skin.Panic surged through her, and she instinctively began to struggle against her restraints. The chair creaked under the force of her movements, but the ropes held firm. “Who is here! Help me!" She called out, wiggling. Panicked, she glanced around her, the memories of what had just happened assailed her. Someone had grabbed her from behind and she'd passed out with the pungent smell forced in her face. She'd been drugged and now she was
Megan shivered, she had a bad feeling that her sister, Brittany had done something crazy. Why else was she calling just when she couldn't find her son and then she was laughing like a psychopath. “Brittany?" She called out over the phone, standing in the living room and shivering in her shoes. “I guess you're home by now, because I know that you wouldn't have answered my call otherwise," she said with a casual tone. “Why are you calling?" Megan asked carefully. She had a bad feeling in her guts that Brittany's call wasn't just a coincidence. “You know why I'm calling, Megan, don't play dumb with me," Brittany replied with a stiff tone. Megan sighed, taking deep breaths to steady herself. She was already trembling and she couldn't find her voice. "Brittany, what is this about?” She asked, already losing her patience. The anxiety was killing her and clearly Brittany was trying to mess with her head. How on earth did she know that she'd just gotten home? And what did that have to do
Brittany stood in the doorway, a forced smile plastered on her face as she gazed at her nephew, Jake. She had a sly smile on her face. How lucky she was, as if everything in nature was just sending her a sign. Her mother's plan would work out smoothly. “Hey little boy," she said with a sugary tone. But Jake just looked up from his painting and gazed at her blankly without saying a word, his eyes almost bored. “Come on, won't you say hello to your aunty?" Brittany tried again with an even more sweet voice but inwardly she was rolling her eyes. “No," Jake gave a single monotonous reply and didn't bother explaining himself, he just picked up his crayons and continued stroking each color across his white paper. Brittany sneered as he turned his face away, he was indeed a miniature version of his mother, Megan, with the same piercing blue eyes and mischievous grin. It was almost like he was staring at Megan's younger self right there on the couch. "Oh, Jake, I'm sure you don't really
Brittany paced back and forth in the fancy little cafe. She couldn't help the anxiety and anger that she felt. The thought of them made her nauseous. “She is in there with him as we speak!" She said and drummed her fingers on the table again. Evelyn had a very calm look on her face. But then that was typical. She wasn't easily ruffled, she always had a plan for everything and that was exactly why her daughter trusted her to find a solution. “Calm down, Brittany, anger never solved anything, what you need to do is plan," she advised. Brittany was exasperated, she hissed, “Calm? How can I possibly be calm right now?" She asked, spreading her arms. “She is with my husband and he won't even allow me see him, he told me to stay out of his way." Smiling, Evelyn waved it all off like it didn't matter. “Come on, Alex is just licking his wounds. You should allow him to do that.” She replied. "I don't know how long that will last for and frankly I don't wish to find out. All I know is that
