Eugene's POV

The door slams open, and before I can even process what’s happening, Nicole is standing right in front of me. His face is full of regret, his eyes filled with desperation.

“Eugene...” His voice shakes when he says my name. The vulnerability in his eyes makes my heart ache, and for a moment, I almost forget everything that’s happened between us. But as his gaze lingers on me, a coldness settles in my chest. It’s the pain from earlier, still fresh, still raw.

I don’t turn around at first. I just stay where I am, my back to him, my hands pressed against the cool glass of the window. I try to steady my breathing, trying to act like I’m fine, like his words and actions from tonight haven’t hurt me so deeply.

“You don’t need to say anything, Nicole,” I whisper, my voice barely above a breath. “You’ve already made it clear where I stand.”

He steps closer, his shoes making a soft click against the hardwood floor. “No... no, Eugene. Please, just... let me explain.”

I shut my eyes for a moment, fighting the rush of emotions that hit me all at once. How can I still care? How can I still feel this much for him after everything he’s done? I want to be strong, to walk away, but as he moves closer, I can’t help but inhale his scent. It’s familiar, comforting, and it makes my heart ache even more.

He reaches out, his hand trembling slightly as it touches my arm. I don’t pull away, even though I should. His touch is warm, and it stirs something inside me. “I’m so sorry,” he murmurs. “I didn’t mean for it to happen like this... I don’t know what came over me.”

My chest tightens. I want to stay mad at him, to be angry, but all I can think about is how long it’s been since I’ve heard him say he’s sorry. “You humiliated me, Nicole,” I whisper, my voice cracking. “In front of everyone. You made me feel like I wasn’t even there.”

“I never wanted to hurt you,” he says, his voice thick with emotion. “I got so caught up in everything. In my career, in the pressure... I forgot what really mattered. You. You mean everything to me.”

I want to believe him. I want to feel the way I used to feel when he held me close. But it’s hard. The memories of all the times he let me down, the way he treated me like I wasn’t good enough, flood my mind. “You didn’t act like I mattered, Nicole,” I say quietly, fighting the tears that threaten to fall. “You made me feel small. Invisible.”

He lets out a long breath and steps closer, his face filled with regret. His hand slides from my arm to my waist, pulling me toward him gently, but with an urgency I can’t ignore. His touch sends a shock through me, but part of me wants to pull away.

“I know I’ve hurt you, Eugene. I’ve messed up more than I can ever fix. But please... just give me a chance to make it right,” he pleads, his voice low, desperate. His lips are only inches from mine, and I can feel his breath against my skin.

I don’t know why, but something in me breaks. I want to say no, to stop him before this gets worse, but I can’t. My heart beats so fast, and every part of me aches to feel his arms around me again. Without thinking, I close the space between us, my lips crashing against his.

For a moment, everything else fades away. His kiss is gentle at first, soft and hesitant, like he’s afraid I might pull away again. But soon, the kiss deepens, and all the hurt I’ve been holding inside starts to melt. His hands slide to my back, pulling me closer, and I wrap my arms around his neck, desperate to feel him, to forget the pain.

The heat between us builds quickly, like a fire spreading through my veins. His hands wander over my body, his touch urgent and desperate, and I feel a shiver run through me. I want to pull away, to stop this before it goes too far, but I don’t. I can’t.

I pull back slightly, breathless, my chest rising and falling in quick bursts. My heart is racing, and I can’t think clearly. I see the hunger in his eyes, the desire that mirrors my own, and for a moment, everything else fades. It’s just us, and the weight of everything we’ve been through feels miles away.

“Please, Eugene,” he whispers, his voice rough with need. “Let me show you how much I love you. How much I need you.”

I hesitate, the warning bells ringing in my mind. This isn’t right. This isn’t how things should be. But at that moment, I didn't care. All I want is to feel wanted, to feel like I’m enough.

I nod, and he pulls me in again, kissing me with a hunger that makes every

thing else disappear.
