The next morning I awoke in Grayson's arms and prayed to Goddess I wasn't dreaming. 

I pinched him just to make sure, and when he groaned in response I jumped out of bed with relief. 

"What are you doing?", Grayson grumbled.

"Celebrating... Being... Here", I yelled in between breaths as I jumped up and down on the springy mattress.

"Maybe I should have let you stay at your parents", Grayson groaned as he began to sit up.

"Hey!" I protested as I launched myself at him. 

We began to wrestle, I was a skilled fighter but was nowhere near good enough to beat Grayson. I laughed and pleaded for mercy as he tickled me, his satisfied look told me he wasn't done with me yet. I wriggled around and tried to use the sheets to my advantage, but his grip was too strong and I ended up trapped underneath him.

My eyes stung from the tears that began to trickle from them and my fingers pulled nervously at the hem of my black skirt.Grayson stood a few feet ahead of me, he was emotionless and though he had attempted to keep me out, I could feel his guilt eating away at him.I have been to funerals before, but none could compare to this.Grayson turned to me and took my hand in his. Together we walked through the crowd and back towards the packhouse as the flames began to lick away hungrily at the wooden pyres.It was werewolf tradition to burn the bodies in the event of a death, so that our wolves may be set free from our bodies to roam the afterlife. Our ashes are then scattered in the forest, where we belong.
