I stared deep into those blue eyes, they reminded me of the blue sea during the winters. A faint rumbling of clouds over our heads pulled me back into the real world.
Clearing my throat I took a step back immediately, "What are you doing here?"
He arched his right eyebrow, "I can ask you the same question."
"I live here."
Another rumbling of cloud made me startle, it was louder than the last one. I slowly looked at the sky that was getting darker with every passing minute.
"The weather is getting worse. It is about to start raining."
I looked at the man standing in front of me, watching me with a look I failed to recognize on his face, "Thanks for the weather update, I should leave now."
"Let me walk you home."
The unhappy face of my mother immediately appeared in front of my eyes, "I think I can manage to find my home without the help of a stranger," I smiled at him.
He gazed into my dark eyes, making my heart pound like a hammer inside my ribs. I
I clutched my phone tightly in my hand about to bolt before the rain started, there was nothing worse than getting soaked in the cold water of rain especially when you are about five minutes away from home.
He gave a curt nod, "I will see you soon, take care."
I gave him a small smile and started taking two steps at once. Something inside of me wanted to turn around and look at the man standing in the midnight blue suit. While the reasonable voice was telling me to keep walking as far away as I could from him.
Pressing my lips together and ignoring the voice I turned around slowly only to find myself alone in the empty street.
My heart sank slightly but before I could think of anything else I felt a drop of water on my nose.
"Oh shit," Turning around I ran as fast I could, holding my bag over my head hoping it would stop some of the harsh rain but it was all in vain. By the time I reached home, I was soaking wet.
"Oh dear," grandma gasped.
I removed my shoes quickly and ran to my room.
As soon as I changed into fuzzy baby pink pajamas there was a knock on my door and then it opened slowly.
"Have some hot chocolate, you will feel better."
Before I could take the mug I sneezed loudly.
"Bless you, dear."
Mumbling a thank you, I took the mug of brewing hot chocolate sniffling a little bit. It was the other reason I hated the rain.
Closing my eyes, I inhaled the steam coming out of the mug before taking a sip. A warmth of joy instantly spread inside my body.
I opened my eyes and looked at grandma, standing in front of me, "Is everything alright, grandma?"
She gave a small smile shaking her head slowly, "Your parents wanted you to join them tonight for a dinner they are hosting for a special guest."
"A special guest?" I tucked my feet under the covers feeling slightly cold.
"It does not matter, you should get some rest."
There weren't many occasions on which my parents had asked me to accompany them for a party or even a formal dinner, they knew I did not like such things and even if I went there I would just keep my distance. Maybe it was another reason why Faith was their favorite.
Grandma was about to leave when I called her.
"Do you need something, El?"
"Who is the guest?"
Some lines appeared on her forehead as she furrowed her eyebrows, "Damien. You know how important first impressions are for your family, you should stay at home tonight."
My hold on the mug tightened as I heard his name.
Grandma closed the door gently. I started sipping my hot chocolate enjoying the soft music of wind chimes filling my room with the faint spattering of rain on my window.
I was curious about my parents hosting a dinner for Damien but it was nothing out of the ordinary, they knew how to maintain their image in front of the whole town and it was probably one of those acts.
One thing was clear to me, I was not skipping that dinner under any circumstances.
After resting for about an hour I was feeling much better or maybe it was the curiosity.
I picked a v-neck black bodycon dress with full sleeves that reached just above my knees. I was straightening the last strand of my hair when someone knocked on my door.
My mother was standing at the door wearing a red dress reaching her knees, her straight auburn hair resting neatly over her shoulder.
I turned to look at her directly, "I will be ready in five minutes."
She eyed me from head to toe with her sharp brown eyes and a faint approving smile appeared on her lips.
"This guest is important for us, Eleanor, make sure you do not make any mistakes tonight," she emphasized on make sure.
"Yes, mother," I answered in a strong yet soft voice, "I thought he was dad's business competitor, then why are we inviting him for dinner?"
She walked towards me making a clattering sound as her heels touched the floor and picked up the straightener, "Because we want everyone to see how we welcome everyone in this town regardless of who they are," she answered straightening the last strand of my hair by herself.
I stood in front of her without saying anything else.
"Be downstairs in 10 minutes," she put the hair straightener back at its position and walked out of the room.
I curled my eyelashes and applied a coat of mascara carefully on them. Maybe I would get some information about him today, I thought as I applied a nude shade of lipstick.
Looking at myself one last time in the mirror I put on a small smile.
Hello, beautiful people reading this❤ First of all, thank you so much if you decided to read this novel. Secondly, there might be many mistakes in this and I want to apologize for them in advance. And yeah that's all....if you like this please let me know🌸🌸
My eyes wandered around the room searching for the man with hair like charcoal and eyes like an ocean. I was thinking the dinner was just for him but the room had around five people present already. I recognized a couple, my father usually did his business with them. The woman was tall and slim with a fake smile plastered on her burgundy lips chatting with my mother who had a similar smile playing on her lips. Her husband was a buff man with a frown always glued to his face. He was chatting with two men I failed to identify. A tall man with sharp grey eyes, curly brown hair joined them with a glass of white wine in his hand. He passed a brief look in my direction with a soft smile, I gave a smile to my dad in return as well. I stood near the stairs awkwardly not knowing what to do when someone came in my direction. A guy slightly taller than me was standing with a shy smile, "Hi. I am Adam." I smiled at Adam, "I am
Damien was near the place where they found blood. Sleep was long gone from my eyes and the possibilities of Damien being behind the murder started running in my head. After what I heard in his house that day and the possible murder of an innocent, I was left with two choices. One, tell someone everything about him but no one would believe my word without proof. Second, find proof against him and show everyone his real face but if he got suspicious he might add my name to the list of his victims. With a sigh, I closed my eyes listening to the faint chorus of the insects outside. . . . An annoying blaring sound woke me up from my sleep the next morning. I did not realize when I fell asleep thinking about everything but it was late. I was feeling sleep-deprived and annoyed the minute rays of the sun fell on my face. Grumbling curses under my breath I made my way to take a shower. As soon as the
I stared at the bright moon hiding behind the curtains of cloud at night, illuminating every cloud around it and giving it a distinct shape. With a smile forming on my lips, I tried to connect the outline of clouds with my finger resembling a rabbit. I never felt alone surrounded by nature. I was too engrossed in my own world that the shuffling of leaves brought me back into the real world. Thinking it was only in my head after what happened in school earlier I ignored the sound. Not even a minute later there was another sound but it sounded like heavy footsteps. Carefully I stood up and tried to get a better look without getting any closer. If it was an animal I did not want to become its dinner. A gasp left my mouth as my eyes made contact with the shining blue eyes staring directly at me through the distance. There was something about those eyes that was making me want to stay. A low rumbling sound foll
"Who told you that?" I put the mug of steaming hot chocolate back on the table, ready to answer Adam's question, "Anna, we are in the same class." "There are four people actually and it is no longer a secret. People know about it." The soft sound of the raindrops falling on the ground echoed in the cafe. There weren't many people there and it was good for us, considering almost everyone knew each other in the town. "Who is the fourth person?" I asked curiously, it was not every day people went missing in our town. "A woman in her late thirties." Adam's eyes were glued to the screen of his phone probably waiting for any other update about the situation. While my brain was showing me the memory of those two men talking to each other in Damien's house. What if they were talking about one of the missing people? We sat in comfortable silence. Taking a small bite from the slice of chocolate cake I debated intern
My brain stopped functioning completely as the man said those words. I stood on my spot like a statue in the middle of taking a step forward. If that man caught us not only Damien would know everything but my parents would as well. Mom might ground me for the rest of my life. But if I ran the chances of outrunning the man were slim. I knew Adam was facing a similar dilemma as well. "Now, I want you both to turn around slowly and do not try to be smart with me," said the man. From his voice, I knew he was about ten steps away from us. "El," whispered Adam from my right side. I hummed to indicate I was listening. "Run!!" he yelled loudly. It was all I needed for the motivation and I ran. I ran as fast as I could without checking if the man was following me or not. The cold wind was slapping on my face but I moved my feet carefully so that I avoided the trees and everything on my way as best as I could.
The crescent moon shined alone in the lonely dark sky. Stars were hiding behind the clouds floating in the cool night.I was scared not because of what happened but because of what might happen after I reach home. The black screen of my dead phone stared at me as I tried to think about what I would say to my parents. It was late and no matter how much I tried to ask Damien to take me home it was useless. That's how I ended up sitting alone in the empty room that was next to the room in which I went the last time I was here.I was angry at Adam for getting me into this mess, I regretted the moment in which I told him about Damien but more than that I was thinking about Damien.I could see my future plans drifting away slowly just like the clouds in the sky.Blowing the air out of my mouth I stood up from the chair to get some water.I closed the bedroom room quietly and started walking down the stairs carefully. The dim lighting of the
The constant buzzing of the phone in my pocket was driving me insane. I was thankful for what Adam did yesterday but it did not mean I would forgive him for leaving me alone in the forest. The forest.... every time I closed my eyes the image of Damien's eyes was in front of me. I knew what I saw was real, just like that freakishly huge animal.Rubbing my head slightly, I looked at the time 30 minutes before I could leave. Not really paying any attention to the teacher I continued making shapes on my notebook earning some looks from Anna."Are you okay?"With a frown, I stared at Anna in confusion. She was not the one to care for anyone, well no one at the school at least."Yeah," I whispered back with a shrug, "why?"She glanced at the teacher quickly who was doing his work and we were supposed to read quietly."Your face looks dull and you are not paying any attention to the class.""No one is paying attentio
Ever since Faith and I used to play outside as kids I could always feel whenever someone was watching me.With time nothing changed, the small tingling feeling became more prominent whenever I felt someone's eyes on me.Faith always dismissed the feeling by calling me paranoid and I learned to ignore it as well. But at the moment I knew it was not paranoia, someone was watching me.The small distance from school to home became scary for me, it was like taking a walk in an alley from where anything could pop out anytime. The footsteps behind me became distant as I increased my speed clutching the pepper spray tightly inside the bag.I slowed my speed when I noticed a strange man dressed in an olive green jacket with a beanie over his head was standing on my way just a few steps away with his head tilted down.A knot formed in my stomach when I tried to pick if I should continue walking or go back.I ana
Two weeks had passed. The icy walls of the palace had witnessed the gruesome sight of the murder of the King, Queen of the werewolf kingdom by Lilith and so many other wolves who were murdered by her to achieve the goal. I could not say everything went back to normal because the truth was far away from it. Damien was with me but he was not the same after losing his family. He did not only lose his father that day but his mother too, even though Lilith did not feel the same Damien always loved her like his real mother. Lilith was still in the cells, she would not say anything and would barely eat the food, there was regret in her eyes but it was not for her actions it was for her son. Luca was a whole other story, he was alive only because the dagger did not pierce through his heart but he was unconscious and not healing like he normally should. He survived thanks to the Alpha of the crescent pack, he had some contact with the witches who were ki
"Someone help, GUARDS," I screamed from the top of my lungs but the defeating silence was the only response I got as I ran towards the doorway of the left wing.I stopped running when I caught the horrific sight of guards on the floor with blood pooling around their bodies. There were no other guards in the entire hallway. I had a feeling there were no guards in the palace, if there were, they should have been here by now.I had to reach the main door and warn the guards outside but the time was not on my side, Lilith must be almost healed by now."There she is," a large man screamed running in my way with a wicked smile on his lips.I started running but it was of no use as the man shifted into a sandy wolf midway. I was thrown to the ground, there was nothing I could use to defend myself. Just when I thought my end was near a vicious growl fell into my ears and the sandy wolf turned towards the sound but it was too late for him. A large blac
Pairs of eyes kept looking at me as I passed the familiar hallway but none of them uttered a word. It was evident in their eyes they wanted to say something but the fear was making them stay silent.I bit the inside of my cheeks and continued walking, barely keeping my excitement to see Damien. I did not know how he would react but it was time for him to know everything....everything about the person who killed his mother. The person who was living with them and waiting to stab them. Two guards were standing at the entrance of the left-wing but other than them no one was there. Damien did not like people entering his personal space and the guards earlier were for my protection when he was not in the palace.I opened the door of the bedroom where the scent of Damien welcomed me. I smiled looking at the flames burning in the fireplace and the chair in front of it.Damien was in the room."Damien, I know this must be a surprise
I loosened my hold on the dagger when the man fell on the ground and Amber was standing behind him with a smirk. She took a large step and extended her hand in my direction. I looked at her hand skeptically and dragged my eyes towards the man on the ground. There were no signs of injury on his body but he was not moving at all."Is he..""Yep," she did not let me complete the sentence."But how..""Burrowed a little gift from your sister," she answered taking her hand away when I stood up without her help."What did you do? If anything happened to my sister..." I pointed my index finger at her.She rolled her eyes, "Relax, I have no interest in getting my nails dirty with the hunter's blood.""What are you doing here?" I kept an eye on my surroundings not trusting Amber. If she was here, it meant trouble was around as well."In case you failed to notice, I saved your life," she ended the sen
"So, you have lived there for months," Faith turned her index finger towards Ruhee, "and you, for almost your whole life." "Well, not exactly my whole life but go on." "And yet, none of you know any damn numbers to contact them?" Faith squinted her eyes as she looked between both of us. We were sitting in the airport and Faith was keeping her word to accompany us to the palace. "I didn't have a phone and I have a goldfish memory when it comes to numbers," I defended myself. "I never had anyone to call," Ruhee lifted her right shoulder casually, "I was living in the palace or the mansion, and whenever they needed me to do some work I was there." Ruhee said every word without any emotion. Faith glanced at me and I shook my head slightly, giving her a hint to not continue the conversation. I did not want Faith to ask something that might hurt Ruhee's feelings. "What are you doing?" I tried to peek into Faith's ph
"You little...""Father, enough...I am ashamed to call you my father. How could you murder a child?" mom yelled furiously. It was the first time I saw her raising her voice at anyone."No. It is all her doing," he pointed his finger at me, "she is on their side, she is working for the filthy creatures. It is their plan. they want to destroy us."Grandpa was trying to make everyone believe his words, his voice held urgency as he stared at everyone begging with his eyes to believe in him."It is not about sides. I just don't want innocents to die....innocents like Adam. The fight between the hunters and werewolves was over ten years ago and you are just trying to start it again. They are not bad people, they have suffered the loss too," but my words meant nothing to him. There was only hatred in his eyes as he looked at me.I inhaled a long breath, "I have lived with them, if they were bad I would be dead a long time ago but those people did everythi
I knocked on the door and waited for the response while holding my breath."Eleanor, what a lovely surprise," grandpa said in his gruff voice with no sign of emotions on his face.I gave him a tight smile."Are you here to apologize for your barbaric behavior?"I bit my tongue to stop myself from giving him a remark that would not be good for my plan."I am sorry for my behavior, grandpa."I tried to make the words believable but from his squinted eyes I had a feeling I was not much successful."Very well, if you don't mind I am in a hurry."He closed the door and started taking quick steps.I didn't stop him and continued following him, "I know I have made you very upset in the last few days but I want to make up for that.""You are wrong my child, it is not the last few days it is the last few years."I rolled my eyes but kept walking knowing very well where he wa
"What happened there?""They kept on asking me questions about your soul mate," Ruhee said in her soothing voice, "and I kept on changing the topic.""They didn't hurt you, right?" I asked with worry. I did not want her to suffer more because of my family.Ruhee shook her head with a smile, "Your mother was there the entire time and she did not let them take any extreme measures. In fact, she was not happy with their decision at all."I bit the inside of my cheeks."Get some sleep."I stood up and left the room silently. Ruhee probably did not get the chance to sleep and needed some rest.I did not get much far before Faith stopped me, "El...""Save it," I continued walking."That is not a very nice way to behave with your sister," a gruff voice made me stop.I turned towards grandpa with a frown, "I was not trying to be nice."The corner of his already down lips turned f
The sharp ray of the sun entered through the window, hitting me directly on the face. I opened my eyes slowly and looked around the room in a daze. With a yawn, I stretched my arms getting out of the bed.I rubbed my eyes as I tried to get rid of the sleep after staring at the blank purple wall of my room. But as soon as I remembered about last night my eyes opened wide forgetting everything about sleep.Faith...ice cream."Faith!!" I yelled opening the door of my room not caring if anyone was sleeping or doing some work.I banged my fists on the door of her bedroom, "FAITH OPEN THE DOOR!!"I kept slamming my fist on the door until I heard the sound of footsteps."What is your problem at 7 in the morning?" Faith asked with her eyes closed halfway."What did you do?" I ignored her question."What?""Oh, stop that. I know you added something into my ice cream yesterday when I was
