I was standing in front of the room where I stayed the last time I was in the palace.
Just when I was about to open the door, the same guard from earlier came towards me.
"The prince has sent me to give you a message, you are staying in the room next to the one where you previously stayed."
I gave him a skeptical look wondering if he was telling the truth or not. I tried my best to find the lie on his blank face but failed miserably.
Reluctantly I turned to walk away hoping I was not walking into a trap. I put my hand on the knob to open the door but paused to look at the guard in the hallway, only to find it empty.
That's not weird at all.
I opened the door but my feet turned to ice when I stepped into the completely different part of the palace.
The icy walls were grey in the room, too grey that they looked black but had the same gold borders with delicate patterns. It was bigger than the room I stayed in, with a l
Two days went by with every minute passing like an hour.I had never felt so alone in my life. I had to stay in Damien's room and if I wanted to go anywhere two guards would follow me like a shadow.Damien was busy with some work but tried his best to give me as much time as possible. We had breakfast in the room but he would come late at night.Ruhee on the other hand was still ignoring my existence, no matter how much I tried to talk to her. She was just shutting me out.But not today, it was the day I hoped never would come. We were having breakfast with everyone, the mere thought was enough to kill my appetite."Are you ready?" Damien asked opening the door."Yeah."I put the black woolen shrug lazily over the olive dress I was wearing, it was 7:24 am and we had to reach for breakfast at 7:30 am. I suppressed a yawn even though I could barely keep my eyes open.By the time we reached near the t
I was standing in front of the rainbow of flowers.Different colors of flowers covered every inch of the ground. The boundary consisted of the flowers arranged in the rainbow pattern. A narrow path of large stone led to a table made of marble with two chairs around it.Inhaling the aroma of flowers I looked at Damien with a grin, "This is beautiful.""My mother used to spend most of her time here. She made this, it was her favorite spot in the entire garden," Damien explained with a warm smile on his lips but a sad look in his eyes.I felt a thorn stabbing my heart as I remembered Emily's words."I am sorry, Damien, I had no idea that the hunters of Greenpine were involved in..." I could not complete the sentence."It's not your fault, Nora.""How can you be so understanding? Were you never upset after finding out I was from that town," I lowered my voice while saying the last part."I was," Damien said dryly,
"I want to ask you something," I put my head on my knees to look at Damien. Damien glanced in my direction through the mirror while buttoning up his white shirt. "What is it?" I got out of the bed to give him the grey suit jacket. "Why do you guys have wolfsbane in your garden?" I passed him a jacket to which he muttered thanks. "How do you know about wolfsbane?" he arched a brow. "I read it in a book which I borrowed from your library," I tried my best to hide the smile while saying the last part. Damien tilted his head to pass me an unimpressed look. "But that's not what we are focusing on right now." He stepped away from the large mirror to face me, "There is no wolfsbane in the garden. It is dangerous for werewolves." "Fine, I'll show you," I grabbed his wrist to pull him as I walked towards the door without giving him any chance to say something. "Nora." "Nora," I didn't
"Growing up I was called different names, with time I learned to ignore them then my mother died and for a while, they stopped until the word spread out that I have no wolf," Ruhee paused for a minute."The cruel words became worse and every day I got a new injury to remind me I was different."I sat there silently listening to her. The pain in her voice was heart shattering."When you came here I thought I finally found a friend. The day you left people started pointing fingers at me once again. You were with me before you went missing," she let out a small breath.I rubbed her arm to remind her I was here and she was not alone anymore."People thought I had something to do with it. That day I was called a 'traitor', it was bad because all my life I was loyal to the royal family," she stared at the burning flames with a cold look in her eyes."Ruhee I am so sorry, I had no idea it would happen. I never wanted to hurt you in any
"I am just leaving."I froze, completely forgetting about where I was going when that voice fell into my ears.I turned in the direction of the voice and started walking as fast as I could with two guards following me.It was the same voice I heard at night in Damien's house. He was the same guy who was talking on the phone about me.I reached a hallway but it was empty. I looked around to find someone who could tell me about the man but no one was there.I started walking again but bumped into someone falling on the floor as an impact."Watch where you are going," came an annoyed familiar sound.I got up to find Luca glaring at me with his dark eyes, his long hair was in a half man bun."I am sorry, I was not looking.""Of course, you were not.""Why are you being so rude?" I frowned, "is it because I am a human?"He scoffed in response, "Not everything is about you, get
"How do you manage everything so easily?"She passed a kind smile taking a small sip of the tea, "I have learned from the best."I looked at her blankly not knowing the meaning behind her words."My sister.""I will never be able to do anything," I bit the inside of my cheeks nervously."My sister was great at doing everything. If I had not seen her in the initial days I would have thought she was born perfect," she let out a soft chuckle that made her sharp eyes squint, "I still remember the day, she was supposed to prepare everything for a small get together but she ordered the flowers that had bees in it."Lilith shook her head with a smile reliving the memory of her sister."If she was here she would have told you one thing only, don't think if the people would accept you or not, you have to accept yourself as their queen first and give your hundred percent. You have to feel the pain of your people, you have to f
I woke up with something heavy holding me in my place. I tried to wriggle out of the hold but it did not work and I was just pulled back."Stop moving, Nora, or else there will be another problem to take care of."My eyes opened and the sleep vanished the moment I heard Damien's husky whisper in my ear. My heart was out of my control as my cheeks started feeling warm.I looked down and found Damien's arm wrapped around me."How can you cross the pillow border?" I screeched still in the same position."Look carefully I am still on my side," he whispered in a low voice sending chills on my body. And he was right. The pillow wall was almost two hands away from me.I tried to lift his arm but it was as useful as watering plants during the rain."Damien, let me go," I whined."Why? I quite like this position," I could imagine him smirking right now."Because I really have to pe
"This is for you," Ruhee announced with a wide grin on her pink lips the minute she entered the room. I passed a look of confusion seeing her empty hands. But shortly after her, a guard entered with a dress wrapped in a nude bag in his hands. "Where should I leave this?" "Please just leave it there," I pointed towards the nearby couch. He left the dress there and left. "Who sent this?" I asked as Ruhee unzipped the bag. She removed a burgundy sequin dress with long net sleeves. It was backless but had two golden chains crossing each other on the back and a slit on the left leg that started from just below the thigh. The dress was long and the skirt was flowy even with the slit. "This is beautiful," I said in awe. My eyes stopped on the tiny off-white card hanging out from the bag. I picked it up, 'I am sure you are gonna love it, Your favorite girl, Emily.' I giggled reading the n
Two weeks had passed. The icy walls of the palace had witnessed the gruesome sight of the murder of the King, Queen of the werewolf kingdom by Lilith and so many other wolves who were murdered by her to achieve the goal. I could not say everything went back to normal because the truth was far away from it. Damien was with me but he was not the same after losing his family. He did not only lose his father that day but his mother too, even though Lilith did not feel the same Damien always loved her like his real mother. Lilith was still in the cells, she would not say anything and would barely eat the food, there was regret in her eyes but it was not for her actions it was for her son. Luca was a whole other story, he was alive only because the dagger did not pierce through his heart but he was unconscious and not healing like he normally should. He survived thanks to the Alpha of the crescent pack, he had some contact with the witches who were ki
"Someone help, GUARDS," I screamed from the top of my lungs but the defeating silence was the only response I got as I ran towards the doorway of the left wing.I stopped running when I caught the horrific sight of guards on the floor with blood pooling around their bodies. There were no other guards in the entire hallway. I had a feeling there were no guards in the palace, if there were, they should have been here by now.I had to reach the main door and warn the guards outside but the time was not on my side, Lilith must be almost healed by now."There she is," a large man screamed running in my way with a wicked smile on his lips.I started running but it was of no use as the man shifted into a sandy wolf midway. I was thrown to the ground, there was nothing I could use to defend myself. Just when I thought my end was near a vicious growl fell into my ears and the sandy wolf turned towards the sound but it was too late for him. A large blac
Pairs of eyes kept looking at me as I passed the familiar hallway but none of them uttered a word. It was evident in their eyes they wanted to say something but the fear was making them stay silent.I bit the inside of my cheeks and continued walking, barely keeping my excitement to see Damien. I did not know how he would react but it was time for him to know everything....everything about the person who killed his mother. The person who was living with them and waiting to stab them. Two guards were standing at the entrance of the left-wing but other than them no one was there. Damien did not like people entering his personal space and the guards earlier were for my protection when he was not in the palace.I opened the door of the bedroom where the scent of Damien welcomed me. I smiled looking at the flames burning in the fireplace and the chair in front of it.Damien was in the room."Damien, I know this must be a surprise
I loosened my hold on the dagger when the man fell on the ground and Amber was standing behind him with a smirk. She took a large step and extended her hand in my direction. I looked at her hand skeptically and dragged my eyes towards the man on the ground. There were no signs of injury on his body but he was not moving at all."Is he..""Yep," she did not let me complete the sentence."But how..""Burrowed a little gift from your sister," she answered taking her hand away when I stood up without her help."What did you do? If anything happened to my sister..." I pointed my index finger at her.She rolled her eyes, "Relax, I have no interest in getting my nails dirty with the hunter's blood.""What are you doing here?" I kept an eye on my surroundings not trusting Amber. If she was here, it meant trouble was around as well."In case you failed to notice, I saved your life," she ended the sen
"So, you have lived there for months," Faith turned her index finger towards Ruhee, "and you, for almost your whole life." "Well, not exactly my whole life but go on." "And yet, none of you know any damn numbers to contact them?" Faith squinted her eyes as she looked between both of us. We were sitting in the airport and Faith was keeping her word to accompany us to the palace. "I didn't have a phone and I have a goldfish memory when it comes to numbers," I defended myself. "I never had anyone to call," Ruhee lifted her right shoulder casually, "I was living in the palace or the mansion, and whenever they needed me to do some work I was there." Ruhee said every word without any emotion. Faith glanced at me and I shook my head slightly, giving her a hint to not continue the conversation. I did not want Faith to ask something that might hurt Ruhee's feelings. "What are you doing?" I tried to peek into Faith's ph
"You little...""Father, enough...I am ashamed to call you my father. How could you murder a child?" mom yelled furiously. It was the first time I saw her raising her voice at anyone."No. It is all her doing," he pointed his finger at me, "she is on their side, she is working for the filthy creatures. It is their plan. they want to destroy us."Grandpa was trying to make everyone believe his words, his voice held urgency as he stared at everyone begging with his eyes to believe in him."It is not about sides. I just don't want innocents to die....innocents like Adam. The fight between the hunters and werewolves was over ten years ago and you are just trying to start it again. They are not bad people, they have suffered the loss too," but my words meant nothing to him. There was only hatred in his eyes as he looked at me.I inhaled a long breath, "I have lived with them, if they were bad I would be dead a long time ago but those people did everythi
I knocked on the door and waited for the response while holding my breath."Eleanor, what a lovely surprise," grandpa said in his gruff voice with no sign of emotions on his face.I gave him a tight smile."Are you here to apologize for your barbaric behavior?"I bit my tongue to stop myself from giving him a remark that would not be good for my plan."I am sorry for my behavior, grandpa."I tried to make the words believable but from his squinted eyes I had a feeling I was not much successful."Very well, if you don't mind I am in a hurry."He closed the door and started taking quick steps.I didn't stop him and continued following him, "I know I have made you very upset in the last few days but I want to make up for that.""You are wrong my child, it is not the last few days it is the last few years."I rolled my eyes but kept walking knowing very well where he wa
"What happened there?""They kept on asking me questions about your soul mate," Ruhee said in her soothing voice, "and I kept on changing the topic.""They didn't hurt you, right?" I asked with worry. I did not want her to suffer more because of my family.Ruhee shook her head with a smile, "Your mother was there the entire time and she did not let them take any extreme measures. In fact, she was not happy with their decision at all."I bit the inside of my cheeks."Get some sleep."I stood up and left the room silently. Ruhee probably did not get the chance to sleep and needed some rest.I did not get much far before Faith stopped me, "El...""Save it," I continued walking."That is not a very nice way to behave with your sister," a gruff voice made me stop.I turned towards grandpa with a frown, "I was not trying to be nice."The corner of his already down lips turned f
The sharp ray of the sun entered through the window, hitting me directly on the face. I opened my eyes slowly and looked around the room in a daze. With a yawn, I stretched my arms getting out of the bed.I rubbed my eyes as I tried to get rid of the sleep after staring at the blank purple wall of my room. But as soon as I remembered about last night my eyes opened wide forgetting everything about sleep.Faith...ice cream."Faith!!" I yelled opening the door of my room not caring if anyone was sleeping or doing some work.I banged my fists on the door of her bedroom, "FAITH OPEN THE DOOR!!"I kept slamming my fist on the door until I heard the sound of footsteps."What is your problem at 7 in the morning?" Faith asked with her eyes closed halfway."What did you do?" I ignored her question."What?""Oh, stop that. I know you added something into my ice cream yesterday when I was
