Adina’s POV
As she followed Colin up the stairs, she got a mind link from Cernack.
‘Is it true?’ he asked.
‘It is,’ she answered, not wanting to talk about it with anyone just yet.
‘This is a problem,’ he replied, and she felt anger rise.
No, she couldn’t afford to lose her cool just now. She could feel Colin’s and Sean’s anger bubbling just under the surface of them both. She didn’t want bloodshed on their first day here. The first day with her mate.
The idea was still foreign to her, but the feeling of magic gently moving over her skin where he touched her told her this was no mistake. She blocked out Cernack.
Colin stopped in front of a door, his bedroom apparently, but once again, Colin and Sean squared off. Adina looked at Colin and could see that his eyes shifted from their light grey colour to a deep orange. He was losing control to his wolf; she realized. She once again stepped in between the two men, this time turning her back towards Colin, without letting go of his hand.
“Wait at the bottom of the stairs, Sean,” she said.
He gave her an angry look, which caused a deep growl from Colin. Adina could feel that growl vibrating through her body. Colin let go of her hand and instead took a hold of her waist, trying to pull her to the side so he would have free access to Sean.
Adina saw Sean’s brown eyes switch to blue. Perfect, she thought as she resisted being moved by Colin. She laid her hand on the arm around her waist but stood her ground.
“Sean, now,” she said, making it clear this was not a request.
She never ordered him to do anything usually. But this was different. He needed to listen to her.
“I am not in any danger, agreed?” she said. He reluctantly nodded. “Then you will listen to me, and you will go down and you will wait for me there. I will call you if I need you,” she said and after looking into her eyes for a moment, he bent his head in a slight bow, turned around, and left.
She let out a small sigh of relief. She could feel Colin slowly relaxing, gaining control over his wolf. His arm around her waist now pulled her against him, and she allowed it.
She relaxed with her back to his chest. He bent down, placed his nose against her neck, and took a deep breath. That sent a shiver down her spine, and she had to fight not to let a silent moan escape her lips. They stood like that for a minute or two before Colin guided her gently into the room behind them.
To call it a bedroom was an understatement. Rather, it was a small apartment. They entered a large room decorated in brown, forest green and cream colours. At one end of the room, there was an enormous fourposter bed. On the other end, a living area with a couch, tv and a desk. There was a small kitchen to their left and a couple of doors leading out of the room, which were closed.
“Come,” Colin said, once again taken her hand and leading her towards the couch.
They sat down. Adina had a feeling that Colin would have preferred her in his lap. And truthfully, she may have preferred that, too. But she needed a somewhat clear head, and she found that difficult with him around.
Her wolf was howling for her to throw everything to the side and just accept this mate bond, to mark him, let him mark her and complete the mating bond. It was distracting. So, she instead crawled up close to him, facing him, not letting go of his hand.
“Why did you step back from me? You are my mate, you have nothing to fear from me.” Colin asked.
Wow, not beating around the bush, she thought. But maybe it was for the best.
“This is complicated. For me, a mate bond is complicated,” she said.
She needed to make him understand. But she could see in his eyes that she confused him.
“It’s not that I don’t feel it. I do, I really do,” she said, taking her free hand and stroking the back of his hand that was holding her other hand. Making the sparkle of magic tingle her fingertips.
She wanted this; she wanted him. But she couldn’t do that to him. She already cared too much for this man to hurt him. He was an alpha. He belonged here with his pack. She could not stay forever, she was here temporarily, and she already knew that leaving him behind would damage her heart beyond repair. But it would be worse if they let this go further. She sighed and tried to explain.
“I live in constant movement. I never stay in one place. It’s a life I can’t ask you to share,” she said.
“You are my mate. You will stay here. This is your pack now. You are their luna.” Each statement he made had a firm determination behind it. She could tell he was not willing to step down.
“And what do I do when they come for me? What do I do when they find out where I am? You know why I’m here, why I move around,” she asked.
“I am your mate. I will protect you. As will the pack, we protect each other. All pack members are safe here,” he insisted.
“And what will I do when you and our pack get hurt or killed because of me? How could I ever live with that?” Adina was desperate to make him understand. But instead of seeing her point, Colin smiled. Adina was confused.
“What?” she asked.
“You said our pack,” he said happily. “Adina, you know you belong here just as well as I do. You belong with me, you are mine.”
Adina couldn’t help herself, but smiled in response to his smile. But she lowered her head so that he wouldn’t see.
“Is this because of him? Is there something between you two?” Colin asked, and put his fingers under her chin to make her meet his gaze. He didn’t need to specify who he was referring to.
“No!” Adina said firmly and met his eyes, trying to make him see that this had nothing to do with Sean.
“Sean may be overprotective. That is his job. But there has been nothing between us other than friendship,” she said, trying to explain what Sean meant to her.
But it was hard putting it in to words. Colin looked into her eyes for a long period before nodding as he accepted her explanation.
“I am your mate. I will protect you from now on,” he said, implying it was time for Sean to retire.
“I’m sorry, my friend, but I will not send Sean away. You two just need to deal with the fact that you both want to protect me.” Adina said.
This was not something that was up for debate.
“I do not care that you think you will leave this pack. We have time to change your mind, little dove. But when you stay here, you will stay in our bedroom and you bodyguard will not be sharing a room with us. He will get his own room on the guest floor. He may not like it, but I do not share my mate with anyone,” he said looking at her.
The thought of Sean in a sleeping bag next to the big bed in the other end of the room while Colin and her slept in the bed made her laugh.
Judging by the surprising look on Colin’s face, this was not the reaction he had expected.
Colins POV
Her laughter rolled over him like soothing waves of music. He did not understand why she was laughing, but he was willing to do anything to make her continue. She gathered herself and shook her head.
“Sorry,” she said, still beaming a smile at him so big that he could feel his heart picking up the pace. It was like pure sunshine.
“If I agree to stay here,” she said with a vague gesture to show the room. “I need you to agree to some ground rules,” she finished.
“You are my mate. We will live together,” he said, and his wolf agreed. He had been waiting for his mate for a long time. There was no chance that he would let her put up a wall between them. Adina tilted her head and gave him a new smile.
This was not the full-on sunshine smile. It was more of a quirky, patient smile, and it made him want to cover her lips with his own.
“If we share this space, you can’t mark me or complete the bond without my permission. And by staying here, I do not agree to take any of those steps in the future.” She said seriously, shocking him.
He would never force her to do that. He felt sick just thinking of it. But the thought of not marking her, of not completing the bond. It was equally foreign to him. His wolf growled. This was his mate. He wanted to mark her.
“I understand it is a lot to ask and if you feel like it’s too much, I will stay in another room,” she said.
“No. You will stay here with me. I will do nothing to you without your consent. But I can not promise I won’t try to persuade you. I want you. Not as a roommate, but as my mate. I will do whatever I can to make that happen, with your full consent.” Colin said.
Adina looked at him and then nodded. Colin felt himself relax a bit. It was not exactly how he had thought meeting his mate would be like. But he was happy to have her close.
“I will have them bring your things up,” he said.
“We need to go downstairs. Cernack keeps trying to contact me. And Sean, you and I need to have a talk,” Adina said, standing up.
Colin stood up and pulled her to him. When he felt her body against his own, he placed his hands on the small of her back. Her scent was all around him and his wolf purred from the pleasure of feeling her.
“I am going to kiss you,” he said, waiting two heartbeats for her to object before bending down, gently placing his own lips on top of hers.
Adina’s POV
Colin’s lips were soft, just like his kiss. Adina responded, letting her hands run over his chest, up to his neck. Gently pulling it towards her, signalling him not to stop. The kiss got deeper, and she could feel him sliding his tongue across her bottom lip. She opened her mouth, allowing him access.
She pressed herself against him as he explored her mouth. His hands caressing her back. She ran a hand through his hair and in that moment, nothing existed besides Colin and her. The magic sparkles running all over her where their skin came into contact with each other.
Finally, they came up for air, and Colin leaned his forehead against hers.
“We could just stay here,” he said with a heavy breath, making Adina laugh.
“No, we can’t. I need to say goodbye to alpha Aries and Cernack. I have kept them waiting far too long. And we really need to talk with Sean,” Adina said.
With a slight growl, Colin released her and Adina regretted her decision straight away. It felt like something was missing when Colin didn’t have contact with her. She realized that this was the first time since she had put her hand in his by the car that they didn’t touch each other.
Luckily, Colin seemed to be of the same opinion because he put his arm around her waist.
“Okay, if you say so. Let’s take care of business, baby,” he said and started walking.
When they started down the stairs, Adina had time to look around a bit more. The pack house was immense. Oak and soft textiles made up the interior. The wallpaper was decorated with green leaf ranks. Here and there furniture stood that seemed to fill a function. This gave a homy feeling and Adina felt right at home.
“The fourth floor is for the alpha and my family,” Colin explained. “It contains my office, your office, our apartment, and two extra rooms. The third floor is for my beta and gamma and their families,” he continued.
Adina had a vague memory of them. She hadn’t been paying that much attention when they were introduced, she realized, somewhat guiltily.
‘Are both of them mated?’ she asked.
“No, just Mateo, his mate is Julia.” He answered. “The second floor is for guests and the ground floor is for the community. We have a large kitchen, a dining room for smaller occasions and one that fits the entire pack. We have a library, gaming room, entertainment room, an indoor swimming pool, meeting rooms and a gym.” He continued.
“The school and hospital facilities are separate? “she asked as they finally came to the bottom of the stairs where Sean waited.
“Yes, the school is on the other side of the village and the hospital is across from the training grounds. Although calling it a hospital is a bit of an overstatement. Our pack doctor is getting older and the she-wolf he has been training to take over isn’t quite doing as well as we hoped,” Colin said honestly.
The three of them had come into a large kitchen where Cernack, alpha Aries, Mateo, and Jason were eating lunch. All the four wolfs gave the newcomers a questioning look. Adina just smiled at them, letting Colin guide her to a barstool at the breakfast area. Sean followed her as usual.
“Are you hungry?” Colin asked Adina, but she shook her head.
“No, I haven’t settled down from the car ride yet. But I could use a cup of coffee,” she said when the smell of freshly made coffee hit her.
Colin looked a bit concerned, but nodded and took out two mugs and filled them with coffee.
“Sugar, milk?” he asked.
“Milk please,” she said smiling. He nodded and poured some milk in one mug before grabbing one sandwich that the kitchen crew had pre-made.
Adina watched him placing a mug of coffee in front of her and his own mug in the spot next to her before returning to the counter to get his sandwich.
He was really sexy, she thought as she watched his body when he had his back turned. She could see the contours of his muscles underneath his blue shirt. His shoulders were wide and she remembered the strength of his arms.
She realized that if she continued to stare at him, she would drool. She looked down into her coffee instead, noticing an amused look from alpha Aries. As Colin was turning around to come back, he stopped.
“Sean, anything you want?” he asked.
“Just some coffee thanks, black,” Sean answered and Colin brought over a mug with black coffee to him.
Adina sent a beaming smile toward Colin. She knew he had asked for her sake and the gesture sent a warm feeling through her body. As he sat down on the stool next to her, she adjusted her position so that her leg had contact with his leg. She felt him putting an arm around her, letting his hand rest on her hip. Once they had settled down, the others resumed their conversation.
They ate their lunch and Adina relaxed and enjoyed the situation. She found she enjoyed the company of both Mateo and Jason. Even Sean seemed to relax a bit and joined the conversation now and then.
“It is time for me to take my leave,” alpha Aries said standing up. “Cernack, will you join me?”
“I think I will,” Cernack answered.
“My lady, it has been a pleasure having you these months. Thank you for the things you have done for the pack. Even though it is sad not to have you with us, I am happy for you,” alpha Aries said with a look at Colin.
“Alpha Aries, it is I who should say thank you for putting up with Sean and me. We have enjoyed our time with your pack. Please give your family my thanks for taking care of us,” Adina said with a warm smile toward the older alpha.
“Nothing to speak about. If you need me, I’m only a phone call away,” he said as they followed him and Cernack out to the cars.
Before they stepped into the car, Adina gave the alpha a hug and heard a low warning growl from Colin. Aries just laughed and got in the car.
“I will be in touch,” Cernack said as a goodbye and stepped into the car.
Adina’s POVAs the cars drove away, Adina turned to Mateo and Jason.“Is it okay if I borrow your alpha for an hour or two?” she asked. They both tried their best not to smirk.“Of course, luna” Mateo said, startling Adina by using the title she would hold if she was to stay in the pack.“Okay you two, kitchen,” she said to Colin and Sean, making it clear this was not a request.Colin closed the distance to her and let his arm slip around her waist as they walked. It was a nice habit, Adina thought. Sean was walking behind her on her other side. As they entered the kitchen, she pointed at the island where they had been sitting eating their lunch.“Sit,” she said, waiting for them to comply.Colin hesitated. Adina understood. He was an alpha. He didn’t take orders.“Please,” she added with a smile. This made Colin move to take a seat. Adina went around the counter, placing herself separate from the two men.“We need to solve this, whatever this is, between the two of you. Sean and I wi
Adina’s POVThe village was beautiful, the small houses were well maintained, as were the roads and everything else. She could see from the pack’s reaction to Colin’s presence that he was a good alpha. They showed him respect, but there was no fear in their faces. It made Adina proud of her mate.“Over there is the school. We have everything from day-care for the pups to a local college,” Colin said and sounded proud. Adina looked over to where he pointed and saw a separate group of buildings. It almost looked like a separate village.“You mix all the different grades in one place?” she asked.“Yes, and no. They all are placed together, but they all have separate houses. But it helps build a pack community and gives an opportunity to teach the older kids and teenagers that they should care for even the younger and weaker members of the pack,” Colin explained and Adina nodded. She got the concept and thought it was a good one. They had stopped at the end of the main street and stood th
Adina’s POVAs Colin left the room with a wink, Adina couldn’t keep herself from laughing. She looked at her clothes and felt uncertain if she could let him buy her more. Her wolf was very certain that they could.Adina’s lack of clothing wasn’t due to not having the money to shop. She was not poor by any means. And she enjoyed shopping, she liked clothes. When she was a teenager, she would go on shopping sprees and fill her closet. But when it was time to move, she always ended up giving most of it away, as she was too practical to add so many suitcases. Most of the things she ended up giving away or donating she hadn’t even used. In the end, it was just depressing and caused her stress, so she just got used to having a basic wardrobe. But Colin seemed thrilled with the thought of sending her shopping. She could go and just buy a couple of jeans and some t-shirts. Adina liked that idea. Then Colin would get his shopping trip. She could bond with Julia, whom she really liked. And she
As the introductions were finished, they moved into the smaller dining room, with Colin and Adina leading the way. Colin showed Adina to her seat next to him at the head of the table. Sean sat to her right and the rest of the guests placed themselves at the table. The mood was friendly; the food was splendid, and Colin made sure Adina felt included in the conversation. This made Adina relax, and she found herself having fun. She and Julia talked about books that they both had read and Colin and Mateo even got Sean into a conversation with Jason.“You seem to be happy,” Colin whispered in Adina’s ear. She smiled at him.“I am having fun,” she admitted.“I knew you would. You are home,” he said, satisfied, letting his arm draped around her shoulders.Adina gave him a small smile and gently shook her head. This was not the time and place to have that discussion. At this moment, she was happy to be sitting with her mate’s arm around her, listening to Sean’s voice was relaxed and surrounde
Adina’s POVAdina woke up feeling safe and relaxed. As the world slowly came back into focus, she realised she was still in Colin’s arms. The realisation made her smile and look up at him. He was already awake, looking down at her.“Good morning,” he said.“Morning,” she answered and tried to stretch, but found Colin held her too tightly. She gave him a soft push. “I need to stretch,” she told him.“No can do, I’m not going to release you now that I got you into my bed,” he said.“Not fair. I always stretch first thing in the morning. It’s one of my favourite parts of the day,” she said with a pretend pout.Colin sighed and relaxed his embrace, and Adina could finally put her arms over her head and let the muscles tense and then relax. When she opened her eyes, she saw Colin letting his eyes trace the length of her body. She realised her nightgown had risen and had made her legs bare, almost exposing her panties. Before she could reach down to pull it down, Colin made eye contact with
Colin’s POVThe rogues had nothing to do with Adina, Colin was almost certain of it. He had spent most of the morning questioning them. The two rogues were in bad luck. After being interrupted from his morning with Adina, Colin had a lot of frustration to get rid of. After feeling satisfied that he got all the information he could from the rogues, he had killed them. Two single rogues were at no risk to his pack. Most rogues weren’t. But sometimes rogues banded together in larger groups. Then you had a serious problem. He knew this from experience. It was a lesson he didn’t need to be taught twice. To be on the safe side, he didn’t want the two rogues to go free. He couldn’t be a hundred percent certain that the two of them didn’t work for someone else or had banded together. Better to be safe than sorry. His priority was the safety of Adina and the pack.“I know the luna and Sean came here for protection. What are we protecting them from? Do we have a rogue army issue?” Mateo asked C
Colin’s POVThe news that Doc had given them was indeed bad. Colin would take on hordes of rogues instead of this type of issue. Rogues he could at least do something about.Something like a sick pup just made him feel helpless. It had surprised him that Adina had asked to help the boy. But hadn’t Aries said something about her having medical knowledge? Colin had been so proud of how she had handled Mrs Morgan. A true Luna. Now she stood bent over the boy and had placed both of her hands on his little body. Colin’s eyes grew bigger as a soft yellow light started spreading from Adina’s hands. Mrs Morgan drew in a sharp breath, and he placed a hand on her shoulder. Whatever Adina was doing, he had a feeling they shouldn’t interrupt it.He watched how his mate’s hands glowed and how her face looked serene. She was always beautiful, but as he looked at her now; Adina looked like an angel. She stayed that way for almost five minutes and then the light admitting from her hand slowly disappe
Adina’s POVColin’s treatment of her neck was seriously messing with her head. If she didn’t make it stop, they would end up right back where they were this morning. Nothing wrong with that, she thought for a minute.Yes, they needed to talk about her phone conversation with Markus. With a sigh, she resigned to the fact she would most likely die a virgin and slid down Colin’s body. At first, he thought it was a seduction move, just to discover it was a way to get away from his wonderful mouth long enough to clear her head and put some distance between them.“Okay, let’s hear it. Who was it on the phone?” he said, running his fingers through his hair.“Dr Markus Müller, a friend from the joint medical centre. He was my instructor during my time there,” Adina explained, sitting up and facing him.“Do instructors often ask their students out for dinner?” Colin asked, and Adina blushed.“It’s not like that. He was very professional during my stay. Once my studies were finished, he showed
Jouko stood up and tried to look like he wasn’t half starving. He bowed towards the gods and the jury. “My lord, my lady,” he addressed the gods. “The things that you have been told here today have been taken out of context and twisted to make them seem like something they are not,” he continued. “I am happy to hear that. Could you put things in the right context, please?” Absalom said. “With pleasure, my lord. In the last five generations the Beloved One have been showing signs of weakness that, quite frankly, is dangerous,” Jouko said. “How’s that?” Selene asked. “They have been more restricting when it comes to interactions with humans. We have fewer ways to express our true nature. The council has put laws and restrictions in place to protect the weak humans from us. It’s a threat to my race,” Jouko told her. “The Beloved One, would you like to respond?” Absalom asked. “I would, thank you,” Adina said, standing up. She didn’t walk toward the gods or the vampire. She stood b
Colin’s POV It had been a month since the battle. The pack was in one place again. Colin, Adina, Sean and Clara and Julia had all gone to the dryads to thank them for watching over their pack members. Despite losing some of their pack members in the battle, the pack had stayed strong and as word got out that the Beloved One lived in the pack, they had gotten a lot of attention. The pack had taken it in stride. They were proud of their luna. Colin was proud of his pack and of his two mates. Today was the day for the trial and they would once again go to the dryads’ land. The only way to let them take part in the trial was to hold it on or near their land. The local tribe had generously offered to host the event. Each race had selected five representatives, except for humans that were peacefully unaware of the whole thing. The enemy vampires and the rogues had been allowed to choose three individuals each to represent them at the trial. The trial would be open to leaders of the race
Adina’s POV“Hello, mother. I’m fine, a little more tired than usual. But I’m perfectly fine to eat lunch with the pack,” Sean said.“You know Adina, and this is my other mate, alpha Colin. Colin, this is my mother and Tia,” Sean introduced them.“Mrs Murphy, Tia,” Colin nodded.“Alpha Colin,” both women said with a bow.Adina didn’t like that Sean’s mother hadn’t offered Colin to call her by her first name. It was a clear sign she didn’t accept him as her son’s mate. Adina felt both her mates tense up.“Would you like something to eat? You have had a long journey,” Adina asked.Sean’s mother looked at her and it wasn’t a hostile look, but it was cold and accusing. Adina had no doubt that Sean’s mother saw her as the reason her son had almost been killed. It was enough hostility in her eyes for both Colin and Sean to stand up and move closer to Adina.“No thank you, we ate on the way,” Sean’s mother told her.Adina saw it wasn’t just her mates that was reacting to the presence of the
Sean’s POV“So she brought Tia with her,” Adina sighed. It wasn’t a question.Sean growled, and he felt Colin tense up and growl as well.“That can be an issue,” Adina admitted.“Both Colin and I are more protective than usual, as you can understand,” Adina added.“I understand,” Liam nodded.“That goes for the pack as well. We have just been through a major battle, and they almost lost Sean. If they find out someone is trying to take him away, that individual will not have a peaceful time in this pack,” Colin said.“I get that, and if you allow her to visit, I will make that clear to her. I have talked to her after your visit and she knows she was in the wrong,” Liam said.“We will let them in. Sean’s mother should be able to see him,” Adina said.“Baby cake, that isn’t necessary,” Sean objected.“I have no issue turning them away,” Colin agreed.“But I do. Are you going to argue with me?” Adina asked.“No, baby,” Colin sighed.“You are too stubborn and kind-hearted for your own good
Sean’s POVSean was slowly gaining consciousness. He felt tired; it wasn’t the kind of tired he usually got after a long day. This was tired like as if he wasn’t lying down, he would probably have ended up in a pile on the floor. He had a faint recollection of being injured; he had a clear memory of wanting to see Adina one last time. Was he alive? He pondered as he focused. He could feel someone having their hand on his arm and someone was holding his hand. Sean could feel the sparkles that ran over his skin. His brain got a little clearer, and he smelt the scent of his mates. He opened his eyes and looked to his left.Besides the bed he was lying in, Colin sat in an armchair with a sleeping Adina in his lap. Adina was holding Sean’s hand in hers, even in her sleep, and Colin had his hand on Sean’s arm.Sean met Colin’s eye and Colin smiled.‘Welcome back,’ Colin mind linked Sean and squeezed his arm.‘Thank you. Where have I been?’ Sean asked.‘Out of it. You are in big trouble, my
Colin’s POVColin watched Adina work. Her eyes were closed, and she had her hands on Sean’s body. There was a steady trickling of silver coming out of is wound and into the basin.Clara came walking into the room with Jason. Jason went pale when he saw Sean. Clara swallowed hard but continued to walk up to the gurney. Before Colin knew it, he had emitted a low growl as a warning. His wolf was just under the surface and saw both his mates being vulnerable and he reacted out of instinct.“Sorry,” he said to Clara. She had frozen in the spot as he growled, and Jason had moved between his friend and his mate. “Go ahead, just go slow and don’t do any sudden movements,” Colin tried to smile at them. They had decided that Clara should stay in the shelter during the attack in case something went wrong, and Doc had been injured during the attack. Clara hadn’t been happy about it, but it was the prudent thing to do as they now had two doctors in the pack. She now carefully looked over Sean’s i
Adina’s POVThe enemies in front of Adina parted to let a tall woman through. She was slender and had short midnight black hair and brown eyes that was filled with hatred and loathing.“Diedre, I presume,” Adina smirked.“Adina, cousin,” the woman smiled. But Adina could tell that she wasn’t pleased that Adina had known her name.“It’s time to stop this, Diedre. You will never have my title and you most definitely won’t have my powers,” Adina said.“Why would we stop when we are winning?” Diedre asked. Adina laughed, but it was a laugh void of all amusement.“You are more delusional than I thought, cousin. Let’s stop this unnecessary killing and part ways,” Adina said.“I’m not the one with a mate that is more dead than alive,” Dierdre smirked. Both Colin and Adina growled at her.“You may not be, but you are the one with a fast-depleting army. Do you think these are the only warriors that will fight in my name? Magical creatures from around the world is standing by to send us backup.
Sean’s POVSean knew he needed to get his men over to Colin as soon as possible. If what Adina said was true and the main vampire force was heading there, Colin and his men would be in trouble. He shifted back to his human form for a moment to give orders to the surrounding warriors. He was still amazed at how many warriors Adina had rounded up. Sean had a good idea about how she had done it. They would have a conversation about that when this was over.“I need half of you to stay here, half of you need to come with me. We have a large number of vampires moving towards team A’s position. We will offer them support,” Sean told them. Sean’s brother shifted back to his human form next to Sean.“We will follow you,” he told Sean, and Sean nodded. He had been surprised when he saw his brother come sprinting through the woods. But he was grateful that he and his warriors had joined them.Sean shifted back to his wolf and then he was off. He mind linked Jason and Mateo to make sure they knew
Adina’s POVAdina walked down into the shelter for the second time. She knew what she needed to do. She also knew her mates would have refused to let her do it. That is why she hadn’t told them about it. She felt a little guilty for that. But not so much that she wouldn’t do it.She stopped by the monitoring station and had a look. It was too early to get a sense for the battle of the numbers. But at least things looked to start off on a smaller scale. Adina was afraid that the enemies were just testing the waters.‘We are under attack, we need our allies on site now,’ Adina mind linked Cernack.‘Are you safe, my lady?’ he asked.‘I am, but my mates and my pack aren’t. I want the council, all of the council, to call in favours where we can. I want all the warriors that we wan get to be ready. If we have allies that are more than an hour's drive away that are willing to help, let me know,’ Adina said.‘Yes, my lady,’ Cernack said.Adina turned to her two friends and smiled.“I’m going
