Chapter 19 Demanding the Villa Again

Author: Fluffcloud
On a Friday afternoon, Eleanor called me. "Sasha, I hope I'm not disturbing you."

I smiled. "Not at all. I'm not too busy right now anyway."

She invited me to go shopping together, which was an excellent way for a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to bond.

I quickly texted Karl, asking which clothing brands and what kind of jewelry Eleanor preferred. His response came through almost immediately.

After informing Ellis about it, I went to pick up Eleanor before heading to the mall.

From the moment I entered the mall, I couldn't shake the feeling of being followed. With the crowd around us, I wasn't sure if I was imagining it.

When we reached the fifth floor where all the clothing stores were, Eleanor immediately ushered me into a trendy boutique.

"See if there's anything you like," she said warmly.

As I was browsing, a voice suddenly rang out from behind me.

"Oh my, you're Mrs. Yeager, aren't you?"

I turned around to see none other than Agnes and Isobel. They showed up out

I no longer believed in the grand lies Agnes spun. "Even if I were to get married, I'd make sure to sign a prenuptial agreement. Besides, that villa is my personal property to begin with. As for Carton Group, it has nothing to do with me since the day it was handed over to Sean."I had made myself clear, yet he was still unyielding. "Sasha, just say yes."After a long silence, I finally told him the truth. "I can't give you the villa."An unfamiliar, odd smile suddenly crossed his face."Izzie was right, after all," he said numbly. "You're willing to spend a fortune on an outsider, yet you won't even give me a house. Now that I'm struggling with the family business, you still won't help. Sasha, have you ever truly considered me your brother?"I never imagined he would say such a thing. Inhaling sharply, I grabbed a mug on the desk and hurled it at him. The cup hit his face before crashing to the floor, shattering into pieces. A few shards were stained with the blood tricklin

Eleanor had set a time to sit down and have a proper discussion about my relationship with Karl. Given the current circumstances, I didn't think it was the right time. At the same time, I was worried that Agnes might act up, so I thought about canceling the meeting. "This is a matter between the elders," Eleanor said. "Even though you and Karl have already registered your marriage, we shouldn't skip the necessary formalities. It's only right for us to meet your family out of courtesy."Agnes promptly agreed. The meeting took place at a hotel under Yeager Group. Since I had just fallen out with the Carringtons, I simply nodded at them upon meeting. Though Agnes' expression gave nothing away, she actually had the audacity to demand ten million dollars as a gift from the groom, saying she wouldn't agree to the marriage otherwise."Furthermore, Sasha can't take this money with her. Once she marries into your family, we'll cut all ties with her."This wasn't a discussion about ma

On the day of the court hearing, just as I stepped out of my house, I spotted Karl leaning against his car.He glanced over at me, and I drank in his looks. He wasn't a man with particularly striking looks, but he had a gentle charm that made him more appealing the longer I stared at him. My gaze lingered on his fingers for a moment before I looked away. "What are you doing here?""I'm here to pick you up."Ever the chivalrous man, he led me to the car and opened the door. "Let's go. I'll take you to court."As Karl and I arrived together, Isobel approached us and affectionately linked her arm with mine. "Sasha, is this Mr. Yeager?"I yanked my arm away. "Hi, I'm Karl. I'm…" His voice trailed off as he glanced at me and smiled. "I'm Sasha's friend."Isobel didn't look the least bit embarrassed. "Oh, so you're Sasha's friend? Well, Sasha really trusts you, huh? She even told you all about how she's been hogging her brother's inheritance without holding anything back…"As if r

Thanks to Karl pulling the strings, the house Sean and Agnes were living in was auctioned off, and all their cars and other assets were liquidated as well. But one of my properties was already transferred to Isobel, and I decided not to pursue it further. Less than a month later, Karl placed the forcibly reclaimed money in front of me. I was just about to take it when he pulled it back. "Give it to me. Consider it your wedding gift for me."I rolled my eyes. "Keep dreaming. Hand it over."Karl raised his hand. As I reached for it, I lost my balance and tumbled straight into his arms.He pressed me down and kissed me. "Darling, I've already given you my wedding gift. Are you really not considering making our relationship public?"I smirked, deliberately teasing him. "A marriage of convenience—you said it yourself."A year ago, after Sean got into trouble, his debts were so overwhelming that I had no way out. I had no choice but to offer up the company's shares to Karl, and he

"Actually, if you hadn't drugged me back then, Karl and I wouldn't have ended up together so soon," I said. "But I can put the past behind me."Agnes immediately perked up, and even Isobel was mustering all her strength to stifle her laughter. Her twisted expression looked somewhat ridiculous. "Sasha, is this for real?""Of course. You can continue living the same life as before. However, I have one condition."Agnes' eyes lit up. "What is it?"Her life had been a misery these past few weeks. Now that she saw a glimmer of hope, she wouldn't let her chance slip. I turned toward Isobel. "You just need to return the house Sean gave you."She had quite the skills to charm Sean to the point where he was practically willing to die for her. As a victim of her countless schemes, it was only fair that I returned the favor. Her smile waned. "Agnes, that's where the baby and I will be living.""That place isn't even that big. Once the wedding date was set, the next steps were choosing a dress, finalizing the venue, and taking wedding photos. While Eleanor took charge of every single detail of the wedding arrangements, my new company had also begun to thrive with its newly established reputation. At noon, Karl came to pick me up. We were going to the hotel for a food tasting today. When we arrived, I felt a little unwell as I got out of the car.Handing the car keys to the valet, Karl looked at me with concern. "What's wrong? Are you feeling under the weather?"I patted my chest. "It's nothing. I'm just a little nauseous."He asked the hotel for a glass of lemon water, and I felt much better after drinking it. "If you're not feeling well, we can come back another day," he suggested."No need. Let them bring out the dishes."Unfortunately, today's menu was full of rich, heavy dishes. The first dish, tuna tartare, was manageable, but the next one—steak—almost made me throw up the moment I smelled it.

I was meeting a client at a café when a server splashed coffee on me. Before I could say anything, the server began sobbing. "I didn't do it on purpose!"Yet the defiance in her eyes was palpable. I frowned. "Get some tissues for me."The server begrudgingly handed some tissues over to me and said, "I'm just a student working part-time here. Please don't report me to our boss, okay?"I was wiping the stain off my clothes, though I figured my effort was in vain. My clothes were already ruined. "Are you trying to avoid punishment after causing trouble?" I snapped. "I told you it was an accident," she retorted. "Besides, I already apologized. Why are you making things difficult for me?"Had the server been upfront about it, I wouldn't have pressed further. "Just because it's an accident doesn't mean you don't have to compensate me," I reminded sarcastically. "It's just a shirt! How much is it? I'll pay you," she spat out the words.Whisking out a few hundred-dollar bills fr

On the weekend, Sean brought Isobel back home to meet Grandma. "Sasha." Sean came downstairs. "Izzie wants to try some of your homemade bread. Can you bake some for her?""Sure," I said, setting aside my work. As I rolled up my sleeves and headed to the kitchen, Sean beamed at me. "Sasha, you're the best.""Of course." I flashed him an indulgent smile. Since our parents passed away, it had always been the two of us. We were the closest family we had, and I had always pampered him. I took some eggs from the fridge while Sean lingered beside me instead of leaving right away. After a while, he suddenly asked, "Sasha, will you give me anything I want?"The kitchen fell silent. He went back to his bubbly demeanor again after a few seconds. "I heard a car outside. It must be Grandma. I'll go greet her!"He left. After what felt like ages had passed, I sighed. By the time the bread was ready, dinner had already been prepared. Isobel came downstairs and linked arms with Grandma

"What's wrong?" I asked calmly. "Weren't you the ones who insisted on taking over the company? Why are you regretting it now?""We wanted the company as it was before, but you gave us an empty shell!" Isobel fumed. "You set us up!"I turned toward Sean and said, "You know exactly what state the company was in when I handed it over to you. I made sure the board accepted you, left a whole team to support you, and even paved the way so smoothly that even a three-year-old could've kept it running for six months. And yet, look where you are now, Sean."You were spiteful and too ambitious for your own good. The moment you took over, you were determined to make a big move to prove yourself. The first thing you did was fire the secretarial staff and let the board down. "In just over 20 days, you've almost run the company into the ground. I must say, I'm truly impressed."Sean flushed. Agnes, of course, couldn't stand to see her dear grandson being humiliated. "Sasha, who do you think y

By the time evening came, I finally felt a weight lift off my shoulders.Setting down a bowl of soup, Karl wrapped his arm around me and said, "See? I wasn't lying?'"More than that, your parents are amazing! If you had told me earlier how easygoing they were, I might've come back with you sooner."He let out a dramatic sigh. "So, it seems like my charm pales in comparison to my parents'.""You're still the best, though," I reassured him, pecking his lips. He smirked. "Now that's more like it."…My new company officially started operating. To quickly build a reputation, I didn't turn down Karl's offer to support. After being rejected several times, he was already in a foul mood. And honestly, I didn't see why I shouldn't take advantage o
