(Third Person POV)
REESE'S hand signal did not miss Venom's keen vigilance. His ears pricked, catching the synchronized sound of motions encircling them. Blocking any possibility of exits.
"Once I make an opening, you run," in a whisper, Venom told Killian before he veered to the side. Hoisting his balled fists up and separating his athletic legs, he made a potent defensive stance.
Steadily, Killian sighed and stood still behind his bodyguard. The moment the assassins commence assault, it's going to be a big commotion yet he could feel the excitement rushed greater than apprehension in his veins.
He already saw the second in command of Blood Moon combating earlier but he yearned for more. Nothing could be as fun as watching wild dogs aiming for their throats while ignorance deliberately digging their graves.
With a barely perceptible simper, Killian's gaze shifted from Venom's vigorous back to the assassins who were biding time to attack. He bet those rascals have no idea what lies beneath the promises of those who hired them. They're on the right side of the boat but their foolishness could make it sink giving odds to his bodyguard.
Gradually tugging his hands out of the pocket of his sweatpants, Killian heaved them up and crossed them against his refined torso under the comfy hoodie before he murmured to the thin air, "Fascinating."
Venom who caught of his words frowned however before he could utter remarks, Reese sneered, "Get them."
The rule was absolute. In a gust of wind, movements from different directions came charging all at once.
"Son of a bitch!" Venom denounced and rapidly jumped behind the prince where he saw the first attack would land.
With a dagger heaved up to the air, the blade was meant to stab Killian. Venom handily caught the assassin's arm, slammed his forehead to the mutt, and landed a solid punch on its face. Another one appeared to the left and Venom hastily romped greeting the vermin with a high kick.
The two assassins knocked over the floor yet it was only the beginning of the frenzy as three more of the hired killers were aiming at the prince.
Venom snapped his sharp gaze to them and with a clenched jaw, pounced at the oppressors one by one.
"We could still talk about it, Forcas," Reese grunted while watching how Venom was effortlessly handling his men. The alpha blood flowing through the beta's vessels etched the rogue boss it would be beneficial if he could make him side with them. "The prince's head cost fortunes enough to dethrone your brother and make you the new Alpha of your territory."
Venom Forcas; the second son of the former Alpha of Blood Moon is an open book to the eastern continent. He thrived to be the leader of Blood Moon since childhood however his elder brother inherited the position.
Reese knew Venom still wished to rule Blood Moon hence using the situation to embark the beta's morality which for the first time carved a grimace on Killian's face. The prince darted his attention to the rogue boss. Astonishment died from his emerald green orbs and was replaced with irritation. His lips furled as he was about to speak when two of the assassins pummeled like junk to the air and dropped down an inch to Reese's feet.
Venom stepped into Killian's line of vision with his chest violently heaving up and down, He wiped the corner of his mouth, spit the blood to the floor, and with an unnerving glare, he rasped at the rogue's boss. "You're so full of shits!"
Reese was startled for a moment before his eyes turned to squints. "You're going to regret this, Forcas," he grumbled and flicked his fingers. Instantly, his beaten-up men who were laying on the floor got up. "Kill them!" in a harsh tenor, Reese seethed, pointing his finger at Venom and Killian.
As soon as the decree was delivered, the assassins unleashed fierce grumbles and like sheets of paper ripped their top robes revealing their athletic scarred wriggling trunks which alarmed Venom.
"They're going to shift! Move!" The beta noticed the unguarded door. He turned to Killian and grabbed his wrist but the prince yanked free from his tight grip to pull the pen out of his bun.
As Killian's long hair fell like delicate fibers to his shoulders, he tossed his hand to the side and threw the uncapped pen towards the creature who particularly irked him. Like a dagger, the pen hit Reese's lower neck disrupting the assassin's transformation.
"Let's go," it was only then that Killian allowed Venom to drag him to the exit. As fast as a flash of lightning, they bolted to the door while hearing the rogue boss's angry scourges behind and the gnashing clatters created by his men.
"To the car!" Venom shouted when they successfully left the house and ran directly to the vehicle which could transport them away from the fuming band of cold-blooded killers.
As soon as they got inside the car, Venom promptly turned on the engine and fierce outcry ripped the stillness of the night.
"Put your seatbelt on, your highness!" with sweats falling to the side of his face, Venom instructed the prince and speed off.
Killian obediently perpetrated and looked back to the rest house where he caught sight of enormous and ferocious beasts sprinted out, destroying the door.
"They're coming," shifting his awareness to the front, he informed his bodyguard in his usual serene voice.
"Fucking bastards!" Venom clasped and drove at full speed.
Killian inclined on his seat. With amusement sent him a side glimpse, he jested, "It would be convenient if you simply hand me to them. The bribe is hella tempting."
Venom bestowed him a short glare. "Nothing came out good when you open your mouth. Are you suicidal?"
The prince chuckled and went on with his fun with his sluggish regard turning intense. "What if I am? Want to die with me?"
Venom huffed. A grim expression clouded his face before he disputed, "Die with a crazy whimp? You're kidding me."
DUE to stressed acceleration, Venom's car languished in handling the high level of friction resulting in a tire blowout. Gripping the steering wheel tightly whilst sensing the frantic jerking motion of the vehicle, he hastily pulled to the side of the narrow route to prevent further mishap. As the engine tardily ceased its remarkable feat, Venom released a pointed audible exhalation and uttered a muffled cuss. Blood Moon was just an hour and a half away, and if he only slowed down a little after Reese's men stopped hounding their tails, they'd be there in a few winks. In brisk succession, he turned his head left and right, lamenting his dereliction. Carelessness is a dreadful mistake for a bodyguard tasked with protecting a royal bloodline nonetheless, he procrastinated on evaluating his error for at that point, reaching Blood Moon quickly was critical.Venom swiveled around and faced Prince Killian, who was resting his head against the window and looking through h
THE dreary path grew bleaker for only a small portion of moonbeams passed through the thick branches of the ponderosa pines draping the entire niche. The crickets started chirping and the owl hooted audibly— enhancing the gloomy atmosphere yet there's no hint of apprehension in Venom Forcas' and Prince Killian's expressions as they were ambling their way to Blood Moon pack."Are we there yet, Forcas?" barely a twinkling later, the wolf prince asked.Venom's sluggish gait abruptly came to a halt when he heard Prince Killian's question. He exhaled sharply, struggling to keep the growl in his throat at bay. They'd been walking for over two hours, and the prince had been asking him the same question every five minutes, deliberately devouring his galled nerves.Venom wasn't sure if Prince Killian was deliberately inflaming his temper or if he simply couldn't shut his mouth for an hour."Annoying royal," he grunted inside of his head before he shook his head and proce
AN HOUR LATER, a worn-out simper flashed to the corners of Venom's lips as he passed into the Blood Moon wilderness while carrying the wolf prince on his back. For a brief moment, the whooshing sound produced by his quick movement and the friction of his jeans against the knee-length thickets sounded like a lullaby to his ears.A yawn threatened to escape his mouth, but he quickly suppressed it and accelerated even more. Venom couldn't wait to get back to his cabin and sleep for he was exhausted from the shitstorm that had occurred overnight, which had sapped all of his energy.Fighting a gang of assassins, dealing with Reese and his men, and dealing with the prince's eerie demeanor, reaching their pack free of mental illness and unscathed was far from what he had envisioned. As a result, Venom mentally shook his head.Perhaps an hour or two is all that is required for him to regenerate so that he can speak to his father about his resignation as the royal wolf p

WEST CONTINENT (The Palace)THE STACCATO CLACKING OF HIGH HEEL SHOES echoed off the brick floor and the granite walls of the long, shady corridor leading to the oratory. There were no servants to be seen for they had been instructed not to disturb the princess in her private worship of the moon goddess, therefore the high-pitched beat slowed and came to a complete halt in front of the sacred room.A lady in her late fifties, dressed in a fitted blouse under a coat and skirt, ironed her clothes before raising her hand and knocking discreetly. Although the hallways were isolated and only lit by dim lights, the lady's demeanor was cautious. It took a few seconds for silent movements inside the oratory to be heard, and then the door cracked open. A girl wearing a long-sleeved blue dress and a veil that covered half of her face exited the room."Please accept my apologies for the unexpected disruption, her highness," the lady said, bowing and curtsying
"WAIT, your highness!" Selena called out as Prince Killian took slow strides to search for his bodyguard.Taken aback, the prince came to a halt, spun around, and peered at the youngest Forcas who had left her unfinished meal. Dressed in a simple white t-shirt, pink above-the-knee shorts, and pink flat shoes, Selena flashed a toothy smile at him. "Did you forget your room is on the second floor?" She jogged up to him, her fiery red hair in ponytails bouncing on her shoulders. It's hard for Prince Killian to believe she's Xavier and Venom's sister for the three have such opposing personalities. The alpha is a reserved man. Venom is hypersensitive, whereas their youngest is a ball of sunshine. As a result, he mentally praised Moore Forcas and Tiana for doing an excellent job raising three fascinating shifters.Soon, Selena stopped in front of him and tilted her head up to look him straight in the eye. VENOM was awakened by the birds' synchronized chirping and the crowing of the morning rooster. As soon as he opened his eyes, his body jerked up and his hands ruffled his short hair."Shit!" he muttered in a croaked voice and looked around his studio-style cabin. The sun had already risen, and its bright rays were filtering through his open windows. The door was slightly opened asserting that someone went out while he was in a slumber. His gaze darted to his mattress, which was covered with a crumpled bedsheet. Someone slept next to him, and the scents of apple, vanilla, and mint filled his nostrils as proof.A scowl tugged Venom's facial muscle as he smacked his forehead and grunted, "Damn it!" He had fallen asleep last night due to fatigue and had forgotten to join the pack warriors patrolling the borders. It was the first time he had neglected his responsibilities, and while he wanted to blame the prince for constantly bothering him, he should also repriman
