Chapter 3 - Meet the Family

Romeo POV

I met Paige three years ago, I was a year away from graduating from university, and she was just in her first year. The first time I saw her, I thought she was beautiful, but I did not feel any mate pull or see anything special about her. I was disappointed. We became friends and had good chemistry, so I decided to get to know her better... I was trying to keep my options open...

I was looking for certain characteristics of the she-wolf that was supposed to be my mate. The prophecy said she came from the Silvercrown Pack and had supernatural strength, speed, and elemental powers. At first, Paige didn't stroke me like someone with those characteristics, but then she started blooming in strength. We trained together, and I discovered her amazing speed, but what made me almost certain she was the she-wolf I was looking for, was that she could muster the ability to handle the elemental power of earth.

The prophecy was quite clear.

“There would be a She-Wolf, a unique one, the one to capture the Supreme Alpha's heart. She would be fated to him, but he wouldn't be able to feel it until the curse was broken. She would be beautiful, captivating, smart, powerful, with supernatural strength and speed. The Elemental Wolf will be our Queen. After all the uncertainty and wars, the kingdom will thrive with their union and unite under one peaceful reign.”

After two years of friendship, I decided to change the narrative into one of a relationship. My mother was forcing me to choose a she-wolf and Paige fitted the most with the description from the prophecy. My father, the Alpha of the Royal Pack and current Supreme Alpha, had done his best to keep peace within all the packs, but unfortunately, occasionally, war broke down and everything went down the drain. We had been so long without peace among the packs, that I knew I had to pick a mate that fitted at least most of the prophecy. I hoped that with the right partner, we could stop the uneasiness among packs and bring peace to the realm.

Without any other option that fits most of the description. Finally, I asked Paige to be my chosen mate. My mother was happy with the news, and my father nodded in approval. Paige had made quite a name and a good reputation among the whole Royal Pack and Paige was glowing with happiness.

“Baby, we should tell your parents,” I said and she nodded. “Yes, I will call them to tell them. '' She said and motioned towards her phone, pressing her full breasts into my bare chest. Yes, I proposed to her while both of us were naked in my bed. You can call it the ultimate intimate proposal. She made a quick phone call, and said “They are expecting us by Friday.” She said and I nodded. Today was Wednesday, so we had one day to plan our trip and finally meet her family.

Today is Friday and we are heading towards Silvercrown Pack. Beta Sebastian is a very well-known wolf among the packs and in the realm. He is mainly well known for being ruthless, and I know he, with Alpha Tobias, would be a strong ally to help keep peace in the realm when my reign starts.

I was driving down the road with Paige clinging to my arm when my wolf Maximus started pacing in my head. “Hey Max, what is wrong?” I asked him and he shook his head. “I don't know, something doesn't feel right.” He responded. “Well buddy, figure it out, I can't have you like that during dinner,” I said, and he huffed in my head. “Yeah I know buddy, but it is for the good of the realm,” I said, and he retrieved it inside my mind.

Ever since we came of age, he has longed for his fated mate. When we heard about the prophecy, Max got excited to know that we were paired with a powerful she-wolf. Then, when nothing happened, I started settling on the idea of a chosen mate and, with time passing, he turned around and agreed with the idea. Then we met Paige, and he grew fond of her wolf, too. It seemed we had a perfect match without the sparks, of course, but the possibility of my mate being gone was evident while the fate of the realm rested on my shoulders, so I had to do what needed to be done.

We stopped in front of a beautiful house. I quickly went around the car opening the door for Paige. She was glowing, and I was confident her family would be surprised to learn she was engaged to the future Supreme Alpha. She knocked on the door and soon a beautiful lady opened the door. “Hey…” She froze when she saw me. “Paige, Supreme Alpha” She bowed to me and I nodded at her. As soon as I entered the house, a sweet smell hit me. It was cheesecake and strawberries, my favorite dessert. I hope we will be getting that for dessert.

She moved from the door, and we entered the living room, where Beta Sebastian and Alpha Tobias were having some drinks. Both men looked startled at our arrival. Immediately they stood up and bowed “Supreme Alpha,” they said in chorus. I extended my hand and said, “Please call me Romeo.” Beta Sebastian cleared his throat and said “Su.. Romeo, nice to have you here in our home.” He said, and I nodded, “Thank you for having me.” Paige's mom called her “Paige, Darling, care to help me out in the kitchen?” She asked and Paige gave her an irritated look. “Where is Stella? She can help you.” She said, and her mom rolled her eyes, “She just ditched me.” “All right Mom, I will be there with you.” She said, standing up and giving me a sweet kiss on my cheek. I nodded at her, and she walked out of the room.

I took the opportunity to speak with her dad, and having Alpha Tobias with us made it somehow more formal than the average proposal. “Beta Sebastian, I wish to ask for your permission to have Paige as my chosen mate.” I addressed the issue without further ado. I always like to be straightforward in all my affairs. “Wow, Romeo. It will be our pleasure to welcome you into our family.” He said and shook my hand. Soon, Paige's mom walked inside the living room with Paige on her heels. “Nadia, Romeo here just asked me to have Paige as his chosen mate.” Beta Sebastian said, and Paige's mom, who now I know her name is Nadia, showed a bright smile.

Soon Nadia asked us to go to the dining room, and I was thankful because I was starving. The earlier clear sky was now cloudy and started pouring down, this fucking weather is always changing, and I was grateful we were indoors. Nadia served hot soup and bread for the first course. Then we moved to the second course. She made a delicious New York Prime Steak, served with roasted potatoes and vegetables with butter and garlic. It was delicious. The conversation was amiable and comfortable. Max kept peaking in my head. from time to time, like looking for something, but he complied with my request to let me be.

By the time we hit dessert, I was hoping to see a delicious mouthwatering strawberry cheesecake, but instead, Nadia pulled out a decadent chocolate cake. I was confused. I was the future Supreme Alpha. My senses were enhanced, and I could smell a lingering scent of cheesecake and strawberries around the house. I guess my disappointment didn't go unnoticed by Nadia. “Don't you like chocolate, Romeo?” She asked and that broke away my confusion. “What, Sorry, Yes I do love chocolate,” I said and Nadia let out a small smile of relief.

“Nadia, my mother will reach out to you to arrange the Mating and Luna Ceremony,” I said and she nodded. “I don't want to wait for long. But unfortunately, with the Friendship Games coming along, my mother won't be able to pull off a ceremony that fast. Maybe after the games, you can have two months in the Royal Pack to plan and set everything up.” I said and she nodded. “Paige, how does that sound baby?" I asked, and she nodded “That's wonderful”.

Bang! A loud slam sounded suddenly, my Alpha protective instincts kicked in, and I jumped inside the room in a fighting stance. I was startled by what I found there. She was beautiful, more than Paige. Her sky-blue eyes looked at me in surprise. I guess neither of us was expecting what we saw. Her dripping wet dark hair and her soaking wet clothes showed almost every curve and dip of her amazing body. I couldn't help but roam my eyes all over her. "Stella! What the hell happened to you? You were supposed to be here long ago!” Paige yelled behind me and I lowered my fighting stance. “Hi, I am Romeo,” I said with a cool smile. I extended my hand, but before I could reach out to her, Paige said “Go at least get changed.” With that, the beautiful she-wolf turned around and never returned.
