My alarm sounded loudly, reminding me of my obligations in the day. I sighed hard, snaking my hands from the blanket and grabbing my phone to turn it off. "Eloise you need to wake up. You know Delmar hates being left waiting," my mother's voice warned from the other side of the door. She was right, he had quite the temper.

I swung my legs over the side of the bed and rubbed my eyes sleepily as I walked to the tiny worn down closet. People in my faction didn't have much. We didn't have the space or money for many possessions. I reached in pulling out a grey shirt and faded denim skinny jeans I'd owned for a few years now. Another yawn escaped my lips as I laced up my worn out black boots.

"Eloise!" My mom yelled, causing me to roll my eyes as I quickly went to the mirror and started to brush my hair. It was barely to my shoulders. After.... him , Luna Hylda and Alpha Finn cut it off. They used it as a way to shame me, getting rid of my hip length dark chocolate locks. They had accused me of conspiring with Gerwulf to burn the pack crops and harm the Luna as an act to start a rebellion. My only escape from the hanging block was Delmar stepping up and offering to take me as a slave, in place of Gerwulf. People took it as a kind gesture... but it wasn't. He took every opportunity to torture and berate me. Honestly I'd spent almost everyday wishing they'd just killed me.

I touched my cheek gently, moving over the pink scar below my eye. When Gerwulf had kissed me, he had burned my skin. Because of this people now started to call me 'witch kissed' , saying I was as cursed as him. Truthfully I had begun to believe so. My life had been plagued with bad luck ever since that night, only in the last moments being saved by the grace of the moon goddess and having my life spared.

I quickly ran down the stairs, putting on my faded green backpack. "Hurry up, hurry up!" my mother called out, handing me an apple and ushering me out the door. Together we both walked out and headed to the pack house. We bowed and greeted the servants in the kitchen, going in our opposite directions. I gave a small smile to Mathilda, the head of the kitchen," guten Morgen... is Delmar's food ready?" She gave me a warm smile, the wrinkles on her face showing her age as she grabbed an elegant wooden tray and handed it over," best hurry up, young master is already awake."

My eyes widened and I quickened my pace, making it to the third story breathing hard. I paused momentarily trying to catch my breath in front of his door, only for it to open. "You're late, mute," Delmar practically growled, as he grabbed my shoulder hard and yanked me in. I shook in fear, trying to keep my eyes off of him as I sat the tray of food at the small table. He stormed over, roughly pulling out his chair and staring at me with a sadistic smile," tell me mute, do I scare you? Gerwulf was my brother you know, you weren't scared of him."

I quickly shook my head, feeling my cheeks flush. Saying his name was almost forbidden by this point, it was rare you heard it outside of whispers. Not long after he'd been exiled there was talk of him building a new pack, beginning to attack the allies of the Harvest Moon pack until they broke their alliances.

"SPEAK!" Delmar commanded, his evil smirk only widening as I jumped in fear. "N-No... m-master..." I spoke quietly. He chuckled and began eating, waving me away to gather his clothing for the day. Once he finished eating I hurriedly dressed him, tending to his hair as a maid entered the room and cleaned his breakfast mess. Delmar began his descent downstairs and I followed behind him like a shadow. We soon reached his regal looking school and he turned to stare at me," don't be late, I have an important task for you after school." I nodded, my heart thudding in fear thinking of the awful tasks he could put me up to. Last week he forced me to carry burning hot cauldrons from the kitchen to be cleaned and laughed as I cried. My arms still ached from the newly formed pink scars.

"Please enjoy your day, master," I responded coldly as he entered the school and I did the same, only using the servants hallway that led to the lower basement area. I was still allowed to be educated, the pack saw it as a way of keeping tabs on me... especially now that Gerwulf's attacks had become closer and closer to pack territory. It was only a matter of time before he managed to breach our territory or die trying. I sighed hard at the thought and tried my best to pay attention during the day.

The day only seemed to drag on until the lunch bell finally rang out. Thankfully Delmar was content with eating in the cafeteria so I had no obligation to see him until the end of the day. I however wasn't as lucky. Servants had to bring their own food or choose not to eat. The pack had no mercy for such lower class folk. I had a routine of going out into the far away park to calm my nerves as I snacked on whatever scraps my parents could afford to spare.

The wind swayed the autumn leaves on the trees and I smiled watching as some fell gracefully on the ground, a bright red cardinal seeming to come from nowhere. I looked around, making sure I was alone as it landed next to me going up in a cloud of smoke. Only a carefully folded note and a small box lay where it once was.

This was my biggest secret.

Not long after that fateful night I had began to receive messages from Gerwulf. I have always known his plans of usurping Keifer once he had stepped up to become alpha. Two years ago he had done so, and the attacks on allies had begun. Harvest Moon Pack was crippling beneath the newly formed enemy that was the Ash Walker pack. I knew he planned to attack soon and I desperately hoped for the opportunity to leave and be reunited with my best friend.

I had no hope in this pack. My parents only had me because it helped them gain more rations and brought another source of income once I started working as a child. They may as well be strangers to me, never having shown much warmth. I was so frail that I couldn't imagine becoming a stronger wolf. It would be a miracle if my mate didn't reject me. I was not a desirable person, nor was I attractive compared to the she-wolves that could afford things like makeup, nice clothes, and more than a bar of soap.

I shook my head, trying to suppress the sadness as I picked up the items and unraveled the note. 'Happy early birthday El, keep this on you. I'll be there soon' was all it read quickly turning to ash in my hands after so long. I was thankful for the effort he put into not endangering me, being caught would surely mean death or worse. The small velvet box opened to a knife.

Just looking at the blade you could tell it was enchanted. The moment I opened it, it had heated to a near point of glowing. Why would I need this? Was he worried I would become a casualty?

I sighed and rested a few more minutes before getting up and walking back to the school building. The knife was carefully tucked into my backpack. My birthday was only a few days away and I hoped he arrived before then. I didn't want to chance finding a mate and being unable to abandon a place that never felt like home.

The rest of the school day had flown by, and I had retrieved Delmar front the entrance leading him back to the pack house. He threw his backpack at me as we entered his room. I barely caught it and gently placed it onto the hook next to the closet."Your birthday will be here soon, right?" He suddenly spoke and I froze in place looking at him warily as he sat on his bed. "Yes master... in four days," I almost whispered, unsure why he was bringing it up.His lips twitched in a smirk almost as he relaxed back onto the plush mattress and propped his head up," any ideas who your mate might be?" I felt my body stiffen as he reached out, trailing fingers onto my lower back and landed at my ass giving a quick squeeze. I had become numb to his advances. He was truly a pig. Things had only gotten worse since last year when he'd come of age and had no luck finding his mate. It was never easier knowing if he truly wanted to

"Eloise," a ghastly voice whispered into my mind.My eyes shot open, staring at Julian who was now knelt next to my bed. "Hey there sunshine. Hurry up and take this pill before your mom wakes up." I swallowed it beginning to cough and watched as Julian turned into a big cloud of smoke.Tiny little squeaks erupted as a milky white bat stared at me, it's piercing golden eyes letting me know he'd transformed to hide. He quickly crawled to my hand, impatiently nudging me as he tried to gain entrance to the blankets to hide. My eyes softened as I instead picked him up, my cutesy voice coming out," look at you! My eyes were fixated on my hand as I worked to gather the few things my parents kept secret in their bedroom. I was a very feeble person, hurting me wasn't hard to do. However, I was quite confused by the way that Julian had reacted," what... uh why did you bite me like that?"He sat on a small chair in their room,"the scent of your blood called to me. It tasted like the sweetest of candies... Eloise are both of your parents werewolves? Is there anybody in your bloodline that has mixed origins?"Julian's face grew serious and I shook my head quickly," no, my family has been indentured servants for generations. I don't know much about my first ancestors here, only that they owe a debt my family will never be able to repay. Whatever they did was so bad that the Alpha and Luna aren't even allowed to speak of it."He studied me hard before gracefully getting to his feet and pulling me closer to him again," you know a vampire

The medic left to give us privacy to catch up. I happily ate. We shared the cake as I felt too full to finish it. It had been so long since I'd seen my friend that I was overcome with happiness.I had spoken more to him in the last few hours than I had in years. Gerwulf told me of the creation of the Ash Walker pack and how he'd struggled in the beginning. His pack had been mainly composed of rogues he felt he'd trusted in the beginning. Now they had a beautiful town, and he'd begun expanding the territory. I didn't have to be told to know that meant he'd absorbed the packs he'd defeated. I knew he would change either from being an alpha or living a rogue life but a part of me hoped he'd always be a gentle soul.My skin started to itch and I became uncomfortable. It felt like I couldn't sit still at all. Gerwulf glanced down at his watch, letting me know it was closing in on midnight. He gently scooped me up, and hastily walked through the c

His loud purring erupted and I smiled as I went along with it scratching behind his ears and making baby sounds at him.Vance began uncontrollably laughing, and not long after Dietrich followed. Simon dared to get closer as he pulled out his phone all to happy to record Julian's purely blissfully smiling face and cat like purring."Julian weren't you just calling yourself a killing machine last week?" We'd talked for hours, the night droning on as the TV in the background barely even mattered anymore. Halfway through whatever movie was playing we had stopped paying attention.Instead I had my hot blooded Alpha on top of me hungrily kissing away at my neck. I was a mess of moans and panting. Never in my life had I felt this absolutely stuck with a feeling of desire. His lips were warm against my skin as he sucked and nipped teasing me where I knew his mark would go. He'd made it very clear his intentions of mating as soon as we could.I sucked in a ragged breath feeling his hands travel down my body as he tried his best to remove what little clothing I had decided was good enough for bed. He ripped my panties and pajama bottoms off in one swipe, only caring to push the top up and completely expose my chest before his hand made warm circles on my skin dipping lower and lower towards my womanhood."Please be gentle with

The flood gates opened and I put my head into my hands, not wanting to cry while I looked at him," I couldn't... I couldn't push him away. It's like my mind wanted to but my body was physically incapable." Anger slipped through my voice.Gerwulf's eyes turned black slowly and he turned his back to me beginning to pace. His arms and hands kept moving, sometimes rubbing his hands through his hair and other times pulling it. He was fighting with his wolf, whatever was being said was angering them both. It seemed even years later his wolf was powerful enough to slip through and take over.I watched for a few minutes as he paced the room, becoming more sporadic. It was

GIDEON There are very few times I can ever remember my mother crying in front of us. After the birth of my other siblings and when dad said overly sweet things to her. Other than that were the times my father was involved. Whether it be he came home from one of the council's missions in ill health or they had one of their many arguments... she cried. "There has to be something you can do," my mother's broken voice filled our kitchen. As I stared into her red eyes my heart ached. I had been the one to make her cry this time. Was I just as bad as my father? Quinn's warm hand was placed onto my shoulder and I relaxed a bit. My father grabbed his glass of dark liquid again and downed it. He looked awful, having just come back from a mission days ago. Deep red hair a shaggy mess around his shoulders and dark bags beneath his eyes. He stood in front of me at the kitchen island, staring down at m

It completely broke all the rules my pack and his parents had given me.I wasn't allowed to make a move on Gideon until he had his first shift. It was forbidden amongst most werewolves and lycans to let a mate know you're theirs until they come of age.The moment he left my mother had confronted me. His thick scent of sandalwood was now intertwined with mine. Soaking up every bit of my being and making me dizzy.Being sent away for 'training' was her form of punishment. Humans frequented this town as much as the supernaturals. "Yes we are!" I swerved recklessly, pulling into the first parking spot at the mall. I went to jump out of the car, but Quinn pulled me back in hard. His nostrils were flaring with his canines elongated. He wasn't trying to hide just how absolutely pissed off he was in this moment.
