“While you were busy looking for me, I was busy trying to forget about you.”

Cordessas face falls, clearly not liking my words. Again, she tries to hide her face from me, so I turn it back to face me.

“If i had looked for you, if i had kept an eye on you, then i wouldn't have been able to leave you alone. I would have reached out, and you deserved better than someone who could never be in your life again. You deserved better than what I could have given you then.”

“And now?” she asks, her voice that of a child, full of both fear and hope.

Stroking her hair from her face, I stare down at her with a smile. “Now, I'm going to take you home with me. If that's what you want.”

She smiles widely, her smile so beautiful it throws me off. While I've always taken after my mom, she's always been more similar to my dad. Her smile is no different. It had always been our dads smile.

“Yeah, I think I would like that. I hate being here.”

I look around the room, realizing that the rest of the room i

I must be dreaming. Or having a fucking nightmare, actually. This can’t be fucking real. None of this can be real. The twins would never, ever do this to me. They would never break my heart like this. And Sara, she doesn’t like the twins, not in this way. The twins assured me of that, many times. And yet, that doesn’t change the fact that this is happening. Nick is sitting on the couch, his chest bare. And Sara is sitting in his lap. Completely naked. His hand is in between her legs, stroking her thighs. And Antonio is leaned over them, his hands wrapped up in her beautiful hair. And.His.Lips. On. Hers. This cannot be happening. The broken glass had come from a picture we kept on the side table. A picture of us three on our wedding. “What the hell is going on here?”I turn, startled, and my eyes meet the disgusted eyes of Lucien. When the hell did he walk in?I turn to the door and see it wide open, his car parked but still running. Sucking in a breath, I turn

I don’t care anymore, guys. I’m over this shit.”They share a look, both visibly worried. “Sara asked us to come see her. She said it was really important. She wanted us to come alone.” Nicholas pauses. “And you listened?” I look away from them, shaking my head. I fucking knew it. I knew something wasn’t right. “We wanted to be there for her, Caroline. She’s our best friend.” Antonio says, trying to reason with me. I laugh humorously. “What a great best friend she must be for you to fucking kiss her.”“It wasn’t like that, baby. Please. And I truly believe that whatever the story is, there is nothing that they say that can explain or excuse their actions. How could they fucking cheat on me?“Finish the story, then. But here.”They share another look, only inches away from me, before turning back around and facing me once more. “We finally got in touch with some old friends from Italy. Well, more like old enemies. Their names are Louis and Levi. Twins, as well. They had worked for Demitri for a while, but had escaped his cartel after he slept with and killed their mother. They were devastated and had pleaded with us to join us. But we knew that would be fatal. Demitri would have retaliated. So we declined their request, but secretly, we helped them. We gave them what they needed to live life without feeling like they would be killed at any time.”“What does this have to do with anything?” I question, crossing my arms against my chest.“Sorry, I got sidetracked.” Antonio says, biting his lip before continuing. “Anyway

How in the world am I supposed to even feel right now?“You will only have about fifteen minutes with her until you will have to leave.” the guard says while unlocking and opening the door. I slide into the room, sucking in a breath when I see the figure curled up in bed. She's facing the window, her body wrapped around itself in the fetal position. Her sobs are filled with emotion, yet slightly muffled by her face being pressed into the thin pillow under her head.“Cordessa?” I whisper out, jumping slightly when the door closes and locks behind me.shit , i hadn't expected the door to be locked behind me.Fuck.Cordessa doesn't respond, likely not hearing my silent whisper over the sound of her own sobs.I take a tentative step towards the bed, towards her, feeling my heart break as I watch her break.“Rory

My mom grabs my hands and silently pulls me to the cabinets, the phone still pressed against her ear, her eyes wide. She slides open one of the cabinets and directs me into it. I climb in carefully, wincing as I feel the wood against my skin. I settle into the very back of the cabinet, my legs pressed against my chest, and try my hardest not to burst out crying. What’s going to happen right now? Why in the world are they here right now? “I’m going to put these pans and pots in front of you so that no one can see you. Okay?” My mom whispers. I can hear banging on the door, and my father yelling. “Mommy? What’s going to happen?” I ask, feeling a few tears begin to spill down my cheeks. “Nothing. The police are on their way, and will be here in less than five minutes. But I can’t let anything happen to you, my sweet girl. So stay in here, and don’t make any noise. And no matter what you hear, or see, do not get out of here until the police arrive.”I nod, taking a few deep breaths
