To safety

"What the hell are you talking about?" She asked.

I smirked. "That's for you to figure out. But watch out, you're in big trouble for your horrible habit. And Lena is going to be your last victim."

"You're wrong. You're my last victim." She laughed out loud.

Reaching for a little gas cylinder, she turned on the fire and placed the iron on it. "I'm going to clear your doubts, I promise... Since you're so confident and not even remorseful for what you've done."

"You aren't either for all you've done. I don't fear you." I stated.

I won't give her the satisfaction of watching me cower in fear.

"Let's see if you'll still stand strong by the time I'm done. You'll learn a few lessons and know your place."

"Who the heck do you think you are?" I yelled, glaring at her.

She picked up the iron and came for me. I kicked my feet and she dodged it.

"No!" I yelled and kicked my body hire to hurt her and prevent her from subduing me.

"I thought you don't fear me. Hold still!"

I laughed painfully as she placed the iron on my shoulder.

I got very violent and gave her several attacks with my feet. She fell and the hot iron touched her arm, she winced and scurried away from it.

Now, she got a taste of her own medicine.

"What's wrong with you? You beast!" She yelled in frustration.

"Shut up. I thought you wanted to teach me a lesson. I guess, the first one is very clear. Don't play with fire lest you get burned."

She groaned and came for me but I pushed her off with my feet being my only weapon that wasn't handcuffed to a stupid table.

"I see. My only mistake was not having your legs chained."

"No, your mistake is trying to hurt me in the first place."

She made more attempts and though she succeeded in touching me with the hot metal, I still defeated her and made her scratches herself.

Her cries filled the room.

"I will come back tomorrow and won't stop until you are dead!" She raged before leaving.

I cursed under my breath. She really won't give up.

I made more attempts to call for help but I only heard the sound of crickets as a response.

The next morning, her presence woke me up. She was still wearing a disguise. This time around, she had an iron rod. I finally knew she was sick in the head.

"Are you ready to fight back now? You and I both know you're not working out of here alive so don't bother wasting your strength." She muttered as she got the fire started.

"Talking me out of surviving is cheating, Raven. I'm fighting because my mother was a fighter. I can't let the bad guy win. Not now, not ever."

"Oh, your mother's dead? Is that the reason you decided to use your gold-digging skills in my family?"

I decided to get on her nerves.

"Yes, actually and it's working quite well. Your husband has spent a lot on me but it can't be compared to your son. He can literary die for me."

She closed her eyes in anger.

She charged for me with a rod in her hand and I knew it was time for another self-defense. I lifted my legs in the air, keeping her off me.

"I'm ready for you!"

"So, am I."

Images of my mom gave me the confidence I needed to battle the crazy woman who wanted nothing but my doom.

We went on for a few minutes with her getting her way only once before I heard footsteps and voices.

"Help me! Somebody help me!" I cried wishing a whole battalion of soldiers would burst through the door and save me.

"Don't bother. It's just you and I sweetie."

I looked up, covered in fear. Her eyes were bloodshot giving me every reason to get away from her. I can't end up like this so I kept screaming that I felt my veins popping at the edges of my chest.

"Freeze! Your hands in the air!"

I thought I was dreaming but it was indeed reality. We weren't alone anymore.

Cops rushed in with their guns pointed at us.

Denzel breezed in, his eyes wide-eyed. I've never seen him more scared as he ran toward me. I let myself pass out. I needed to show them how she damaged me physically. I'll use her motive against her.

Voices talked over my head but one thing was certain, Raven was arrested.

I opened my eyes in the hospital room, clothes changed and the air was different. I recalled the doctor's face earlier, her voice was the last thing I heard before I slept off.

I sat up on the bed, feeling a strain in my muscles. A drip was attached to my arm. I ripped it off quickly and winced when my head spun.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

My attention was shifted to the door. Winter stood a few feet apart in a bright red dress, the kind she wouldn't wear during the day.

"Wow, you look like a mess." She smirked.

"Why are you here?" I asked the most ridiculous question ever.

"I was driving and thought I'd stop by and see how you're doing." Her smile seemed genuine as she cornered me on the bed. "What do you think you're doing?"

I was up. Making the hardest attempt to get up but she restricted my movement.

"Are you out of your mind? You have to stay in bed." She raised her voice, awakening the migraine in my head.

"This place makes me sick," I confessed sitting on the edge.

"You won't be here for long. It doesn't matter."

"I need some time alone," I whispered.

"Hold on, did you fight with Denzel?"

"No."

Her head dropped to the right.

"Really? Then why are you in a hurry to leave?"

"None of your business. I'm leaving and if you're not gonna help me, I suggest you go."

"I don't want you to do something you'll regret." Her voice softened. "Like I did."

I froze. "Winter, what are you talking about?"

"I...I don't know what to do. I'm pregnant." She bit her lip. After a few seconds, she chuckled. "What on earth! How can I be a mom after everything I've done? I don't know what to do."

I sucked a breath in. "Stop being so afraid of the future. That's for you to figure out. Does the father know?"

Her eyes lit up. "He's cool with it."

"I think cool is an understatement."

She blushed. "You have nothing to worry about. I'm right here, everything is going to be fine."

"You should take your advice and stop trying to run from the situation."

The plan to leave the hospital without letting staff know was in motion. Winter's vibrant red coat was the perfect disguise to keep me away from getting noticed by any staff.

"I don't understand why you're putting yourself through all this trouble." She said when we stood by the door.

"It's for the best," I whispered.

A knock came on the door and shortly after, a nurse walked in.

"Oh, you're up." She smiled going to check the drip. "I'm sorry but you still need lots of rest."

Winter approached her, "We are just going out to the garden to get some fresh air."

"Alright, but you can only be there for ten minutes. I'll be back."

Winter and I stopped to sit in the lobby as she called her driver to come up to the front of the hospital.

My eyes closed as I slowly drifted to sleep.

"Sheldon, he's here," Winter whispered and I opened my eyes, looking straight ahead to see Denzel before us with a big basket.

A burning sensation lingered in my abdomen as he stood before me. He reached in and embraced me in a hug. I froze.

In my mind, I was ready to battle and have him get off me. But my body remained still.
