Our motorcycle was crashing into the wind, going fast on its wheels. I loved how it felt on my hair and my face. I rested my head on Hunter's back. I wasn't able to hear his heartbeat because of the helmet I had on. We were riding through the mountain and I enjoyed the view of the sea.

"Are we allowed to go this fast?" I asked in a yelling voice.

"You call this fast?" He asked out loud.

"No! Don't do anything crazy, please." I begged wrapping my hands around his torso.

"Don't worry, I won't scare you just for the fun of it." He reassured me and I nodded. When we go to a busy mall.

"I have to get something. Don't go anywhere." He said, taking off his helmet.

"No way, I'm coming with you, dude." I insisted and removed my helmet too. We went into the mall together and Hunter was walking faster than I was. We got to an art gallery in a section of the mall and I was more than excited to see some of his paintings arranged all over the place. They had his signature. These paintings were more decent and friendlier than the ones I came upon in the painting room at the club.

He grabbed a piece and passed it to me. It was a painting of a house but coated with different colors and sketches.

"What are you doing with this one?" I asked raising the piece to get a better view of the work.

"A friend of mine wants it. It's the only remaining piece so be careful with it." He informed me.

"The only piece? Don't you have a way to duplicate it so even if this one gets damaged, you can replace it with the duplicate?" I inquired.

"That's smart but I don't want to do that." He smiled before grabbing another one. "These two are going with me, ma'am. Please, package them. I'll be here waiting." He told the middle-aged woman who was the manager of the store.

"Yes, Mr. Hunter." She replied smiling so lovingly. We sat on the sofa waiting for her to be done. In the meantime, I wanted to ask Hunter a lot of questions.

"So, your first question, Mr. Hunter. It's about your ex-girlfriend. I heard so much about her. But I'd rather go with your own side of the story. Did she really disappear without letting you know?" I asked holding up my jaw.

"That's not entirely true. I was heartbroken when she got pregnant for someone else but I still wanted the best for her. So, when her baby daddy, that idiot got into trouble with a secret mafia organization, I had to save his ass by smuggling them out of the country in the safest way possible. Unless he would have been dead and they'll probably sell his organs because those guys never forgive people who steal from them. I got them out of the country without anyone knowing and now, I even have photos of their little girl." He narrated.

"Aww, how sweet. Let me see..." I asked stretching my hand toward him. He got out his phone and scrolled through the screen.

"I can't believe you're sneakily asking me for evidence. How clever, Sheldon. I know you don't trust me. It's written all over your face." He faked a pout.

"Why should I trust someone like you? Give me one good reason. All you've ever done is confuse the hell out of me." I laughed while taking the phone from him. I saw adorable photos of a girl that looked almost three years old. She was so beautiful and looked really happy.

"That's enough staring, it's not like she's my kid." He blurted taking his phone from my grip. "Remember, you can't tell anyone what I just told you. Although I haven't yet cleared my name in the eyes of gossipers, I still want to protect that kid and her parents. No other person should know they're still breathing. Promise?"

I interlocked my pinky with his. "Promise."

"Good, story time's over. It's interesting to know you've been asking about my past. Do you care to share who gave you this information?" He asked showing off a boyish grin. I rolled my eyes and looked away.

"You're the one answering the questions today, handsome. All you gotta do is dig up your honest response and deliver it to me without hesitation." I replied.

"Great, I love it when you act stubborn. It's amusing to behold." He sighed and checked his wristwatch. "I wonder what is taking her so long. It's not like she's wrapping up the entire mall." He grumbled afterward.

"And I wonder why you're so impatient. Besides, I have another important question to ask you."

"Let me guess, you want me to tell you the girl I went to prom with?" He teased.

I chortled. "That's the most ridiculous question ever. I never wanna know that detail. My question is about the politician's daughter someone told me about. What really happened to her? Did you know the people that killed her?"

I was waiting for his quick response. Just like how he answered about his ex-girlfriend. But his lips remained sealed and his eyes transitioned to a gloomy shade of red. His eyeballs got wet. I thought maybe it was because he hasn't blinked in a long time. He walked away. Moving toward the direction the manager went. He stepped out minutes later with the paintings in his hands.

"I got them. Let's go." His voice hitched and he went past me in a hurry. I immediately caught up with him and took one of the packaged paintings from him.

"I'm sorry if that question triggered something upsetting. You... You really don't have to answer it. I perfectly understand how you feel right now." I uttered, hoping I would make him feel better.

"Thanks for understanding, princess." He cooed and brushed the strands of my hair aside, tucking them behind my ear. After the emotional pause, we hopped on the motorcycle and left for our next destination.

His mood has been wrecked. Maybe I shouldn't have asked him about a dead person. I just didn't know how emotionally attached he was to the event. That it would make him speechless. He must have loved her a lot to lose her in such a manner.

We arrived at an office some minutes later and we went through the elevator to his 'friends' office.

On reaching the floor where the office was, we were asked to wait since he was in a brief meeting. I imagined myself working for Denzel in his office. I'll ask everyone to go away that he is in a 'brief' meeting and then, I'll run back to him for us to have the time of our lives. No one would fire us because he was the boss.

Speaking of the boss. I turned to Hunter who has been quiet since we got in. I imagined she was thinking about the politician's daughter I mentioned. I also don't know if he had been able to open up to someone about what really happened.

"Hunter, I need to ask you about Lena. I've only met her a few times but you have known her since she married Rehan. How would you thoroughly define her character?" I asked closely watching his face.

"Lena? Oh, she's very secretive and puts on a facade even when she isn't feeling too well. I find her rather too quiet and reserved. Prim and proper to be exact. She was born into money so she definitely gives less care for the rest of us."

"Who do you think she's closer to? Mr. Morgan or Mrs. Raven?"

"Mr. Morgan worships the ground she works on. He respects her like she was the angel of our family. But as for Mrs. Raven, they hardly ever talk. Mrs. Raven hardly ever talks to anyone. But if you ask me, I'll say she's closer to Morgan." He answered shrugging his shoulders.

I was taking down notes in my mind. Morgan only wants to use her for the money, I hoped she knew that.

"Do you think Rehan is capable of hitting Lena?" I asked the biggest question that isn't so pleasant to the ear.

"Well—"

"He's available now. You can come in and meet him." The secretary interrupted with a heartwarming smile that took all the tension in my bones away.

"Be right there." Hunter interpolated before turning to me, eyeball to eyeball. "The last person in this world to hit Lena is Rehan."

He got up and started heading in. As if I had just come out of a trance, I stood up and followed him. We were led to the spacious office where from the many cameras installed, I wouldn't even dream of picking my nose in this environment. I didn't see the man's face until I got close enough to his desk. He was plum and fleshy. The man became instantly familiar. And I sat down nervously when he offered us a seat. From the flickering of his eyes, I instantly realized that he recognized me as well. He was one of my clients but only on rare occasions. It was as if my nemesis was catching up with me. I might get caught anytime soon.

"I see you decided to come with your beautiful friend." The man chuckled nervously with Hunter.

"Eyes of her. She's taken." Hunter warned and he kept the paintings on the desk. I noticed an envelope he slipped under the painting from his pocket. He pushed it toward the man on the desk. "The full package you requested for. It was cute doing business with you and your overbearing wife." Hunter said in a rather dark tone.

I sat there wondering what was going on. I thought we were only here to deliver paintings.

I didn't a secret delivery was going on too.

"Thank you, Hunter. You just saved my life."

They shook hands while I remained puzzled. After the visit, we went out together. In the elevator, I couldn't stop myself from inquiring what was going on.

"Did you give him drugs?" I asked, wide-eyed.

He chuckled and shook his head. "His wife leaked her nudes by accident. I had to help her fix the damages at a price. Now, she has no nude pics and videos on the loose. Aren't you impressed by what I can do?"

"You're full of question marks, Hunter. I'm not sure if I can finish asking everything today." I bit my lower lip in frustration.

"Relax, Sheldon. I'll always be here to answer your curiosity about me. You've got nothing to worry about. I can even pause the elevator right now, and we can have all our conversations right here."

"Right here?" I shrieked. There were dozens of cameras watching just in case, we get carried away by each other's lust.

"Right here, princess. But I have to be at the tattoo shop right now. I have an appointment and you're coming with me."

I gulped as the elevator doors parted.

"What the hell are you talking about?" She asked. I smirked. "That's for you to figure out. But watch out, you're in big trouble for your horrible habit. And Lena is going to be your last victim." "You're wrong. You're my last victim." She laughed out loud. Reaching for a little gas cylinder, she turned on the fire and placed the iron on it. "I'm going to clear your doubts, I promise... Since you're so confident and not even remorseful for what you've done." "You aren't either for all you've done. I don't fear you." I stated. I won't give her the satisfaction of watching me cower in fear. "Let's see if you'll still stand strong by the time I'm done. You'll learn a few lessons and know your place." "Who the heck do you think you are?" I yelled, glaring at her.She picked up the iron and came for me. I kicked my feet and she dodged it. "No!" I yelled and kicked my body hire to hurt her and prevent her from subduing me. "I thought you don't fear me. Hold still!" I laughed painf

  • The Whore Bride   She Knows

"I'm going to call the police," Denzel said but I stopped him. I had to think fast and use this opportunity for my benefit. "Don't call the police. There's nothing much they can do without any leads. I will get to the bottom of this myself." "You know who did this?" His face dulled in confusion. "It's Morgan. Your father. He has every reason to hurt me. I've been hurting him for the past months. It's his turn I suppose." I was blatant in revealing my thoughts."My father? Do you think he's that dangerous to hire an assassin? You could have been dead by now." He examined.I guess he doesn't entirely detest the man.I chuckled. "It's a clumsy job. I think he's only trying to scare me." He blinked twice, observing me like I was a completely different person. "Why aren't you suspecting my mother? She's the only trouble we all know." "She has no beef with me. Not yet. But your father, right from the moment we said we were marrying each other, he loathed me. And he's helpless because y

I was quiet. Awfully quiet as Denzel and Hunter did all the talking. They wanted to set things right and repair the damages. Despite understanding their motive, I felt like they were wasting their time. The deed has been done. I was shattered and broken. Thoughts of my poor mom wrapped around my mind. By the time Denzel was done speaking, Lena was crying. And for some reason, I was not moved by her tears. Although, I noticed how she couldn't control herself. Rehan held her, his head bowed in shame."I'm so sorry. I was threatened. I didn't know what to do. Raven is powerful. I couldn't stand against her. So, I lied and covered everything up." Lena said when she caught her breathe. "How could you let her do that to you? Burn you like you weren't human. How on earth did it happen?" "It was a year ago. We were both at a conference. She drugged me and did that to me. When I received consciousness, she pretended like she had no clue what was going on. Eventually she confessed and said

"Sheldon, what's going on?" He asked holding my head."You are aware of what your mom did to my mother, aren't you. She was maltreated by your family and you kept it a secret. Why?" I questioned, staring at him helplessly. "I couldn't tell you. The moment I found out, I wished I didn't. Because I knew it would hurt you deeply.""You're hurting me now, genius!" I pulled away from him. "Guess what? I met Raven some hours ago and she handed me some money and I accepted it. I'm such a fool. I'm selling myself short to the monster who hurt my mother." "Don't overthink this, Sheldon. You've done nothing wrong." He soothed. My eyes squeezed shut, picturing my mom's disappointed face. I hurt her too many times when she was alive, now that she's late, I'm hurting her more. When would I learn to do better? Clutching onto my bag, I went into my bedroom and bawled my eyes out. I came to the conclusion that I needed to get rid of Mrs. Raven. She's a monster who doesn't deserve to live. I'm s

  • The Whore Bride   Digging Mother

We were on our way. Taking an early flight to Tokyo. Hunter had it all figured out since he knew where the woman was staying. A three-star hotel in a rural area. Likely, she was laying low after what she did. The puzzle was a tough one to fix but there was no backing down. We reached the hotel, it looked old and low maintenance. Hunter was able to get through the poor reception and didn't mind sharing the details of their guests. We headed up to the third floor and I was relieved the elevator worked perfectly fine. On getting to her room, I grabbed Hunter's arm. His jaw went slack."Any problem? You can't do this?" He asked."What do you mean? Are you expecting me to screw up the mission? I only wanted to remind you that she's a female. You can't just enter her bedroom." I thundered. The corner of his mouth turned up. "Trust me, that won't be a problem. As long as it's the both of us, she'll be fine, alright?" "No, let me go in first." I insisted, walking ahead of him. I reached t

  • The Whore Bride   Hairpin

Out of all the moments for Denzel to go on the vacation he had been planning for, it had to be the moment I got dragged into a legal battle. Lena was getting ready to sue me and all I had to think about was the right color of bathing suit that would match my polished nails as I took a swim at the large pool behind the house. I was insane. But I'd blame Denzel who prepared all this. We were in his aunt's house. Another paradise on its own. Funny enough, his aunt wasn't related to the family. She was his high school teacher who he grew fond of. The way his eyes glowed whenever she wanted to have a conversation with him, confirmed how much he valued her. The teacher had retired and had her ten-year-old granddaughter running around the house whenever she visited. This side of the world was peaceful. I saw life in its purest form every morning I woke up from my bedroom. I saw a lot of smiles, received a lot of care, and of course, the amazing French accent I heard all around me. I didn'
