The Werewolf Curse

Broken

Years back…

I remember looking through the room and seeing what I had done.  My wife, the love of my life, was killed in cold blood because of my insanity.

Now and then, I’d be reminded of it, it’s been two months since the incident but it is still fresh in my memory like it happened seconds ago.

If only I could change the hands of time and go back to that night, I’d do things differently but no, all I have with me is regrets, pain, and hatred for myself. It’s not enough to take my life, I have to fix this, I can try to revisit the past. With my vast knowledge of science, I can finish the project I abandoned many years ago.

I thought creating the Larinth, a time machine was a useless idea but now, I have seen its usefulness in my redemption, I’d never forgive myself for what I have done but I can at least try to salvage myself from ruin. I’d try till my time on earth is up, if I’m lucky enough, I’d change it but if I’m not, who knows…

With this, Darin starts his life’s work, the creation of the Larinth, hoping to travel back into time and undo what he did, at least he may get the chance to have an intimate conversation with his wife, and probably consummate his union with her.

That’s what they were working towards when his madness sought blood for appeasement as it always did and he coldly murdered his wife. After doing this, his sanity returned and he had carried the grudge since then.

Darin, implementing all the principles of physics concerning his machine, was proud of his work, it was a dazzling success, getting him closer to his goal each time he tightened a screw or welded two pieces together.

Some said that his insanity is a result of his high brain activity. The man was science personified, creating machines and modifying already created ones, making life better for everyone else but never really paid attention to the unmade part of himself.

For three years, Darin worked on this machine, and on the 21st of April, 1908, he finished his work. These past three years, working on this time machine he proudly called the LARINTH, gave him hope.

He never buried his wife’s dead body, he kept it in a room in his house, preserving it and preventing it from decaying with all sorts of chemicals and it did just the trick. Whenever he goes to visit her, it would seem as though she’s asleep and this lightened the heavy burden of guilt he carried on his shoulders.

I never felt so fulfilled all my life, of all the prizes I won in all the science fairs I participated in won’t compare to the prize I’m about to win if this works; a second chance with my wife. I’ve absorbed myself into this, not thinking of anything else or anyone else but my redemption and getting back to my wife who’s waiting for me. I have finally created the pod which I could use to travel back in time and correct my ways. I'll see you soon, Yvette.

It's time to test his invention, Darin set everything up and went into the pod, enthusiastic to see his wife, he didn’t test run for any flaws or use a test subject to ascertain his success. He hopped into to pod and lay still waiting for the countdown to finish so he’d travel with the speed of light back to the past.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and something like a surge of energy came rushing into the pod, and he was projected to a period, one he couldn't recognize, his design had a flaw, he failed his wife and can never be redeemed.

I was enthralled by this perfection I had put together over the years and it was time to do something remarkable, something no one had ever done, the extent I would go for love, just to hold Yvette on more time in my arms, take my time to cover her body with my kisses while treating her like the goddess she is.

I’d surely drown in her sweetness while showing off my masculine prowess with my strokes, hearing the melodious sounds escape from her lips and giving her the never-ending pleasure as her body shakes in response to me. I’d forever cherish the seed of our love. I’m no longer one with my demon and he no longer has control over me, Dr. Penelope’s prescriptions worked! For the first time, I’d be deserving of Yvette.

As I slid into the pod, I felt a rush fill my surroundings and I was convinced that my project worked. I started my time travel for what seemed like millions of years, falling into a hole, it was void and quiet, and it was cold too. I felt drowsy and I closed my eyes for a second and everything came to a stop. I arrived at my destination.

It wasn’t my matrimonial room, it didn’t look anything like my house, it was an empty hall, a place I couldn’t recognize. I thought it was part of the plan and hoped to continue my journey soon but no, I was stuck there! And then it dawned on me that my perfect invention was flawed. I didn’t know how that was possible and couldn’t recall any possible mistake I may have made but I wasn’t holding Yvette in my arms and this worried me a lot. I felt a knot in my stomach that didn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

This is my punishment, there is no saving me this time! Where is my demon? It put me up to this and suddenly, I’m exorcised because I’m trapped in space? Oh no!

When people learned of this, they locked the pod up in the room where Darin kept his wife, ultimately, he was united with his wife. Since then, no one had used the pod for the destination is unknown.

It was handed over to the Oscars, his closest relations for safekeeping from generation to generation.
