Chapter 9: Hitting

Julia slightly inclined her head towards Jared, her eyes betraying no hint of emotion. "Thank you, but no need to trouble yourself," she politely declined.

With those words, Julia stepped out, swiftly shutting the door behind her.

Jared remained in his spot, his deep eyes locked onto the closed door.

A few moments later, he retrieved his phone and dialed a number.

"Please look into what's happening with the Watson family," he instructed the person on the other end.

"Understood, boss," said the person on the other end of the line.

Shiloh approached during this exchange and overheard Jared's conversation. He regarded his elder brother curiously.

"Why are you investigating this, brother?"

"Don't you think she was very strange just now?" Jared asked back.

Jared's query prompted Shiloh to recall Julia's odd behavior moments ago. It was indeed peculiar and somewhat unsettling. He had also sensed a formidable aura from her, similar to his brother's when he was enraged.
