The moment I entered the camp, I felt a heavy pressure in the air.
The camp was smaller than my room but bigger than my office cabin. A black curtain divided the room in half. There was a large red ochre table in the middle, and a map was spread out on the table. There were a few locations crossed out.
"Your royal highness." The Commander's voice was grave but polite. "We found a survivor."
The man had chillingly eclectic obsidian eyes, warm red lips contrast to his pale skin. His inky black hair was combed back, but there were a few strands of hair falling on his forehead as if they rebelled against his desire to look neat. His cobalt blue shirt was neither loose nor tight, hugging his body enough to give me an idea of what could be underneath the rich silk fabric.
He oozed a cold aura, making me feel like I was standing in the middle of Siberia, facing the arctic winds.
So, he was the future villainous emperor, Dante Scheledrus Wyrm, the second prince of Sephyr Empire. It seemed like he hadn't killed his father yet and ascended to the throne.
How did I know?
In the web novels, the powerful characters would always have a cold aura and penetrating dark eyes.
Especially, the male leads would always be extremely handsome and the masochistic female leads would always tremble before them while being supposedly 'pampered' and tossed around on the bed by them.
So, this novel had four important characters: the female-lead, the male-lead, the crazy ex-fiancee, and the villainous emperor.
The villainous emperor was also described as cruel, cold, and devastatingly beautiful.
I really hated it. I mean, why would writers always say that the strong characters would have super-cold air around them? Why wouldn't they simply call them walking refrigerators? Why would the male leads need air conditioners if they could always have cold air around them?
Tch! If they must make someone evil, it should be someone who could pretend that they were extremely good instead of the 'obvious' characteristics that marked them evil from the beginning?
The only thing that I appreciated was the author's imagination.
The emperor was indeed a looker. My stomach was a dance floor for both butterflies and rats. It was difficult to keep a straight face in front of a fine man with sculpted features and a gaze that had my inside floored. The only thing that lacked in his bedroom eyes was emotions.
He was expressionless. There was not a smile or a sneer. I couldn't tell what was going inside his head. He was studying me and my shameless brain was trying to imagine how he would look lying on a bed with only a tie around his neck and socks on his feet.
I wouldn't mind being tossed around by him.
Why was I thinking of kinky stuff? Shit! When did I become a mindless female lead? I shook my head to exorcise the evil thoughts. I won't get tempted. Anyway, I would rather toss him around than getting tossed around by him.I was S. I was definitely an S.
What should I do?Many thoughts raced through my mind. I was not an Olympic runner. There is no way that I could escape this valley of the dead without having them witness me. I didn't have any special cloak either that would help me turn invisible. Damn! Why didn't I transmigrate into that wizard novel? Why did it have to be this trashy novel?
The soldier inched closer to me hesitantly. I could sense that he was extremely reluctant. Just when he grabbed my soldier, I held my breath. It was a matter of death and life.He turned me on my back and placed his finger under my nose briefly. Then, he pulled away. My body was already cold and he was damned scared.
The emperor continued to watch me with his dead eyes. He didn't look angry or upset. There was no difference between him and a robot.Maybe a robot could show better emotions."Why are you here?" I managed to spit out the words."I wanted to check if there were truly no survivors," He answered me in a monotonous tone. "What is your name?"I looked at his sword and then, I glanced at his face. How long would it take for him to kill me? He killed me last time without any questions. I took a step back from him. Where could I run? If I ran in the other direction, I had to pass by the camp. Some soldiers would notice me. If I ran in the direction of the emperor, I would meet the sword. Even if I had one life left, I wasn't keen on dying."I am not a member of this tribe." I placed my hand on my chest. "I came here to… to…""To?" He raised his brow.
[Dear Transmigrator,So, you died again.
I did the same thing: pretending to be a corpse to escape the soldiers and then, I made a run for it before the emperor could arrive to check. I didn't read the letter until I reached the stream that was cutting into a cave.It was already dark. My feet ached as I walked along the shallow stream on its shore. The blood of the corpses on my body had dried but my
"What are you?"I looked into the girl's striking blue eyes. I knew the answer to who I am, but I didn't understand what she had meant when she asked me that question.
My head was still hurting.Dante stood in front of me. There was a small crease between his brows as if he was looking at something mildly annoying. But I knew that he could kill people with a straight face. Was it good if he was frowning a little?
[Interlude]I stop and glance at Harvey. Sitting in his office again, I have a tornado going inside my heart. Sensing that I have paused my narration, he raises his head and meets my eyes. I look away, recalling the moment when Dante had left the room that day.Why do I still feel bad?I am not Dante’s wife. I am not his lover. I am not his woman. I belong to myself. I am self sufficient. I do not deserve men like Dante, Alphonse, or Kaige. But there is still an ache in my chest that won’t go away.So I don’t understand why I still want to cling on to Dante. Is it similar to the time I had clung on Raymond?
[Dante]However, the tumultuous ache didn’t leave him.Noises seemed to have blurred in the background like a lost ray of light that was trailing down from the sky. Kaige was furiously yelling at Alphonse who was looking at his feet and sighing. Savina shrugged, avoiding his eyes.Dante saw guilt in her eyes. Although she had owed him nothing, she was still feeling guilty. He could read human’s emotions easily, especially when he wanted to focus. Right then, she was in his focus. The ache was annoying in his chest, an evidence that he was indeed in love with the crazy woman. It was better if he said nothing. Dante left the room. He didn’t want Savina to see any strange emotions in his eyes. A
[Dante]“I didn’t expect this from you, Alphonse,” Kaige spoked before Dante could say a word.Dante rolled his eyes, but he remained quiet. Something was stirring in his heart. Something that felt better after Savina got off Alphonse’s lap. That ‘something’ was both familiar and unfamiliar. He had experienced it once, but it had never stayed with him for long. Was it love? He didn’t bother to cling to the feeling, and he hoped that the strange feeling would leave him. But it was impossible. His curse was slowly lifting. His heart was thawing, and he was feeling. When did he start feeling for this strange woman? To be honest, he could still pretend until the end that he didn’t feel anything for Savina. At the same time, the for
[Savina]When Dante came into the room, I had an urge to push Alphonse away and beg for mercy. The position was bad.I was sitting on Alphonse’s lap with my arms coiled around his neck. My skirt was lifted, thighs showing, and Alphonse’s one hand was right on it.His lips were close to mine, almost touching. Actually, he was quite stubborn, and it took me a while to seduce him. He was just about to kiss me when Kaige and Dante entered the room. They didn’t even knock. There was no gentlemanly bone inside them. And just why Kaige was looking at me as if he wanted to kill me? I could understand if Dante was offended since I was still his ‘wife’. Kaige
[DANTE]She was there. Alive. Too alive to his liking.Dante wished that he would have preferred it if she was dead or sitting in the same room with the undeads in the next room. If it was possible, he would love to gouge his eyes out by himself. Maybe the book should reset itself, or maybe he should forget everything. But he knew that forgetting was impossible unless Savina could fail again. Since it wasn’t possible, he let out a heavy sigh.Savina didn’t move. She looked at him with annoyance. Her sharp brows shoot up as if she was challenging him while sitting on Alphonse’s lap. Oh, only if she knew who Alphonse was or what kind of crimes he had committed.Nevertheless, he hated remembering how she had loved him while she couldn’t remember
[Dante]Dante rushed into the mansion, trying his best to steel his heart. He couldn’t smell blood except for the dead rotten blood of the undeads. Savina’s blood was too familiar to him. She had died three times
[Dante]As he had expected, Aloisia’s lair was right where it was previously. He knew that she would move to the lands of undeads soon. If his guess was right, there were undeads in the co
[Savina]Alphonse pushed me down on the bed. His body pressed against mine. His hands were on my waist, squeezing them hard as he delved his tongue into my mouth and sucked on my tongue. From a hesitating adult, he had turned
[Savina]I leaned closer and cupped his face, pressing my lips against his. Before I could continue, Alphonse broke away the kiss as he laid his hands on my waist and held me still. I couldn't move. He stared into my eyes and
