"Drifta!" I hissed her name through my teeth, never taking my eyes on the massive beast now stalking towards us. From the moment I saw him over my shoulder, I started running zigzag through the threes, and the moment I thought I managed to create some space between us, he jumped out right in front of me. Drifta stirred, and I could feel how anxious she was, but that didn't help me because she still refused to shift or even answer me. "Make her shut up for crying out loud!" Lydia winched and squirmed on the cold wooden floors. I pressed my hands over her mouth, desperately trying to muffle her cries and moans of pain. The cave was dark and cold. The rugged ground was covered with loose rocks, dirt, and water puddles. Small streams of water trickled down the walls here and there. Our steps echoed down the dark and narrow passage ahead. With my back turned to Ezra, Jacob, and the wagon, I stared down into the darkness, scared the thud of my raging heart would start to bounce off the walls. It had created as an attempt to forget that I had to leave Lydia alone in the wagon, but as the cold and wet darkness sucked me into it, I am almost ashamed to admit how fast I forgot about her. The sound of fabric ripping made me gasp, but my head was kept in position. He kept still with a painful handful of my hair while one of his hands ripped my shirt off, still smelling my hair and neck like the creep he was! Out of nowhere, Ezra quickly sat up and stared down at me with a strange expression on his face. He lifted his nose in the air and took deep whiffs before he hummed. That is just what I did; I crawled as if my life depended on it; for all I knew, that is just what it did. I can’t remember feeling this out of touch or control over myself while obviously being just that. I crawled into the darkness; sharp rocks scraped up my knees, palms, and legs, but I ignored it. I kept my head and eyes focused straight forward, looking at nothing. Jacob`s howls of amusement echoed around me, together with his laughter. He pretended to bark like a dog and growl, and every sound taunted me as I dragged myself through the darkness. At one point, the pain I felt was the bleeding wound on my exposed limbs. It stung, burned, and plain out hurt. This shook me back to reality. A little puzzled, I slowly got myself up, used the wet and cold walls to get to my feet, and just stood there listening to the creepy sound filling the dark void around me, together with my loud and heavy breathing.
