As they stepped a foot outside of the church they tried to get their bearings on what had happened to them recently, they looked at each other with a glance that was understanding, they both were on the same page: confused yet reassured in it.

The thing that was nothing more than a loose theory, an excuse of sorts to continue with this case, had become a confusing reality that was hard to take in.

But a steady voice inside their heads told them to believe the nun and do as she asked because she might be on the money on the death of Lord Reginald.

"Well then…that was quite…enlighting" Elizabeth said breaking the silence, Thomas Kent nodded positively in response, he was still a little in shock at what the Sister had told them.

"She seems to be sure of herself" while walking down towards the main road "not a shred of doubt on that woman."

"It was quite the excitement…" Elizabeth said looking puzzled for the first time since Mr Kent had known her "while I tend to be very open minded I am having a hard time coming around this, even tho I am compelled to follow her lead. "

"I agree with the sentiment, my lady." he stood beside her as they walk.

To their sanity Henry was walking towards them with a cheery face and an I-know-I-am-late expression "Good afternoon…you both look rather disturbed" he said observing the state of their semblances.

"More than you will be able to believe and more than I can comprehend at the moment I am afraid" Elizabeth said with a worried expression fearing this time that she wouldn’t be able to make him trust her words.

If the religious woman did believe her version of the story and confirmed it then Henry would probably wound not accept it since he was a man who had little time for religious superstitions.

"Probably more than you want to hear."

 "Try me, Elizabeth."

"Well apparently our renowned Lord Reginald was in fact attacked by a creature of the night, and a nun has tasked us to find it, identify it and lastly destroy it." Henry's expression towards Elizabeth's words was one of sarcastic amusement.

Her childhood friend was holding his urging impulse to laugh out loud, but refrained as Elizabeth continued "our dear Lord Reginal must have crossed paths with the creature and mistook it for a romantic companion and that lead to his untimely demise…and the answer to it lies in that ‘Den of Sin’"

"Now I know what you meant when I wouldn’t believe you" his grin was annoying to the blond woman, and Kent didn’t appreciate the attitude either.

"But I will tag along, for my amusement" he had a gleam in his eyes, he couldn’t wait to see where this was heading  "So what’s our next step?"

Setting aside her uncomfortable feeling of being mocked Elizabeth answered "We are going back to the Night Rose to find to bait the creature and identify it"

There was a small silence after she spoke.

Thomas fixed his handkerchief as henry whistled a note out, and the woman caught on to their unease "We are all going, I am not discussing this further…I will go with you both to the Night Rose and figure out who…or better still what is causing it. "

"And how do you suppose to archive it, my lady?" Thomas said tactfully.

Henry, on the other hand, was blunter "Will you march head-on?" he was extremely amused "Will you play the role of a lady of the night? I would like to see your mother's reaction if so."

It took every ounce of her energy not to respond aggrieved, after a second she answered "Not quite what I have in mind" she then turned her smile into one of malignant compliance "in fact I don’t think anyone would recognize me in your clothes".

Another silence was created, but this one was created out of the shock of cross-dressing.

"I don’t find that funny" Henry said defensively.

Elizabeth replicated the same face he made when he was ‘amused’ by the supernatural part of the death "I am glad that you don’t find it funny because I was serious."

Even Thomas was uneasy about the prospect but was more open to the idea "And how would that work?" from his words apparently logistics were his actual concern.

"Well…Henry and I are roughly the same height, so I would wear some of his clothes, pull my hair back fix it in a bun and hide it in a top hat, and walk right in with the other gents." she was quite happy with her idea.

"That can potentially work" Mr Kent added, "I would offer my clothes but I am afraid that I am too tall for them to fit you without giving you away, Mister Henry should be the one to agree."

Henry scoffed at the whole thing "You certainly do not take her side"  he was quite vexed now "how would you even hide your" everyone opened their eyes directing their gaze to him, the young man was uncomfortable even saying it "bosom"

The answer came quickly from the blond noblewoman "a will wrap a cloth around it and press it back, and that would create the illusion"  henry softened a little hearing her idea, but still had a quarrel with it "oh Henry" her tone was pleading yet resolved "think about it…three pair of eyes are better than two."

"But it could be dangerous" Henry retorted with an exasperating tone

"Not as dangerous as whatever is killing people in that way." she smiled slyly at him.

Henry felt defeated "Fine, I will lend you my clothes and we will head there tonight"  the glee on Elizabeth’s face was endearing "but we need to be careful, a woman discovered as impersonating a man can be dangerous."

"Thank you Henry," she said smug as the lord was when he arrived, soon enough she lead the way towards Henry Lewis's house.

The residents of Crawley had been shaken that night and the whole affair was aggravated by the days of fear that they had experienced with the fog and the horrible images it could be holding, the imagination was an enemy to the people of this town.
