Janet’s POV

“Let me go! Let me go, you bastard!” I yelled in annoyance as he pushed me into his master chamber and closed the door behind him.

“What do you have to say about what I have seen and how you have fooled me all these years, Steven?” I gritted my teeth in questioning.

“I haven’t even thanked you for what you did for me, babe. I know everything is going on too fast but—” He began but I shunned him.

“You really take me for a fool, don’t you?” I scoffed, bitterly laughing at myself.

“Do you really think I love Pamela? I don’t love her, you are the one I love, Janet, and I will make you my one and only Luna.” He screamed at the top of his voice.

“Stop lying!” I hissed.

“Pamela’s father was the first to target my throne and if I don’t marry her, he will covet my throne. I’m doing this to protect ‘us’, Janet.” He said dolefully and for a while, I was intoxicated by his believable lies.

“You mean…” I trailed off.

“I’m getting married to her because of business, she will never be my Luna,” he made a comeback, looking serious.

“Steven..!” I shed another set of hot tears again, falling into his arms.

“I thought I lost you, Steven. I’m hurt!” I mumbled in his arms as he patted my back.

“I was also worried about you, babe. I didn’t want this but I’m still weak. You are the one I love.” His voice was the same, so sweet and captivating.

How could I survive without him?

He pulled me away, looking into my eyes.

“Take some wine, I will have the physician treat you with immediate effect.” He passed the goblet to me which I drank hastily because I was thirsty.

“You have to understand and believe me this period, Janet.” He took the cup from me with a smile.

“So, are we also going to get married? I can accept having her in the harem since it’s for your benefit.” I said but started feeling unwell suddenly.

“Get married? To you?” He smirked, laughing scornfully.

My throat was burning - I couldn’t breathe and it was as if my stomach was shrinking too.

“Argh! Steven….” I cried out in pain as I collapsed on the floor.

“Steven…” I kept calling to him, with my hand in the air while clustering my stomach, and just then, Pamela showed up behind him.

“You are really a sweet talker, sweetheart. I can’t believe you talked her into believing you and drinking the acid.” Pamela smiles mischievously, placing her manicured fingers on his chest.

“She is an obstacle and I don’t mind getting rid of it for you, honey.” Steven planted a kiss on her lips. They wouldn’t stop kissing and embracing each other tightly.

“What? You…” I could no longer breathe properly and I was already seeing my life hanging on a thin thread.

“Is this what I deserve?” I managed to speak forcefully as tears rolled from my eyes again.

I abandoned status and my family for him, I loved him for years and did everything for him, and in the end, I was only a footstone to achieving his main purpose.

“Why didn’t I believe my parents?” Tears of regret gushed out as I felt bad for my parents.

They were truly right but I was clouded by lust. He used me and didn’t dump me alive, he dumped me like garbage waiting to be trashed.

“This death serves as a curse, I will return and make their life more than a living hell — even death will be far from their dwelling,” I spoke while choking, my eyes were slowly closing and I couldn’t hold on anymore.

“Just die!” Pamela kicked me with her legs and I stumbled to another corner, giving up the ghost.

My whole body ached as I groaned, opening my eyes. My first vision was blurred.

“Janet! Janet!” The loud voice of my mother filtered into the room as she barged in.

“Mother?” I called her out in surprise.

My eyes wandered in the room and back at myself. I noticed my hair had grown longer and I looked younger.

I remembered burning the duvet on me.

“Why are you still sleeping? Have you forgotten your duty?” My mother asked, still having her cold and serious attitude.

“Duty? Am I not dead?” I couldn’t help but ask aloud.

“You will be dead if the members find out that as the Omega leader, you are not yet in the welcome ground.” My mother lashed out.

“What’s going on?” I asked anxiously.

“Wake up, everyone is waiting for you. We have to welcome the Alpha’s son.” My mother said as she walked out of my room.

“The Alpha’s son?” I muttered, quickly taking up the mirror.

“I… I’m young.” I gasped, taking a close look at myself until my eyes dropped to the calendar beside my table.

“2021? What? I’m in 2021, not 2024?” It sounded crazy and unbelievable.

I died!

I saw myself being poisoned by Steven and my so-called best friend, Pamela.

Why was I still alive and why was I here?

“Did… did I travel back in time?” I pondered.

“Yes. You were given a second chance, Janet.” That calm familiar voice came up again.

“You…” I trailed off.

“Yes, it’s me. Your unnamed wolf and I’m still with you.” It said.

“So, after what Steven and Pamela did to me, I was given a second chance?” I smirked, feeling annoyed and excited at the same time.

“This is interesting but I’m never going to fall again, I can’t wait to see their faces on that day. I will never be a fool for so-called love again.” I gnashed my teeth while clenching my fist.

“It’s time to go!” I jerked from the bed, feeling enigmatic and motivated.

“Where are we going?” It asked.

“We are going to welcome our dear nemesis,” I said curtly with a mischievous grin.

It was my turn to give them the taste of their medicine.
