Chapter 84- Lawler POV
“She is right. I haven’t asked her. I just expected her to be ok with everything that has happened.” I feel defeated as I speak to Harmony and Theo. “It wasn’t just you. We all did it. Last night when I watched her heal you, I never once asked her how she was handling seeing those creatures. We kind of joked about them a little bit, but I figured it was her way of coping. We were both more worried about you.” Theo is full of sadness as he speaks. “I didn’t help by bringing up the prophecy. I am so very sorry.” Harmony chimes in. “She has just taken over so well and stepped into the role of Queen that I overlooked her basic human needs and instincts.”
We sit in silence for a little while before my body moves on its own accord. Moving to the cabinet, I pull three mugs down, fill them with blood and strategically pla
Chapter 85- Lawler POV“Elnora!” I scream as I run back downstairs and begin looking for her. “What is wrong?” Harmony meets me in the living room. “I cannot find Elnora. She is missing.” “Don’t panic. Hang on. I will find her.” She insists.I watch as she closes her eyes and begins to hum. “What are you doing?” I ask. “Finding her. She is here in the house. I am just trying to locate her now.” She whispers to me. Never opening her eyes and breaking the stream of what she is doing. “She isn’t here. I looked everywhere!” I scream at her. “You did not.” Her eyes fly open, and they are white. The black within them and the color that was once there is now gone. “Your eyes.” “Top floor. Bedroom on the right. She is sleeping.” Her body drops to the floor and thuds loudly
Chapter 86- Elnora POV“What do you need to apologize for?” The shock in Lawler’s voice makes me laugh. “I shouldn’t have said what I did. Or maybe I should have, with a different tone. It wasn’t very polite of me to drop all of that on the three of you. You are all trying to help me learn everything that I need to know. I just feel bad that I said it the way that I did. I could have used a bit more tact.” Apologizing was easy enough for me. I am used to saying sorry to something that I shouldn’t need to apologize for, a gift given from a crap marriage. I begin to think. “You do not need to apologize for what you said. Everything that you said was true, and to be honest, you were very nice compared to how you should have been. We all lacked on keeping you safe and understanding your needs, me the biggest culprit. For that, I am truly sorry. I hope
Chapter 87- Elnora POV“The Breeds killed my great-great-grandparents.” “What!” I immediately sit up and look into his smiling face. “Not how you would think, though. Maybe the longer version would be a better fit.” “You think!” I smack him on his arm in a playful hit at such a disturbing blunt statement. “Let’s start with the Chihuahua, shall we?” He pulls me back to him, and I lean into his shoulder once again. My great-great-grandma had one, and it was her constant companion. My Great-great grandpa was often away for business for the kingdom, so the little dog became the most important thing in her life. Then one day, she was out walking on the beach with the dog, like she always did, when a storm started brewing. A large wave came in and swept away the little dog. When it did, she jumped in after it and right into a rip current. She was a poor swimmer and didn’t make it out alive. They found her body
Chapter 88- Elnora POV“Sabastian? It is me.” I repeat again in a whisper. I can feel the connection between the two of us, but I am not connecting with him for some reason. “Sabastian, it is Lawler. Please respond.” Lawler’s voice is soft and firm as he requests that Sabastian speaks to us. “Sabastian?” I call louder one more time. Giving up is on my mind when I feel a tug on our connection. “Five more minutes,” Sabastian grumbles. “Sabastian wake up it is Elnora. I need to speak with you.” “My Queen, how are you contacting me?” I can hear the confusion in his voice as he begins to wake up. “Open your eyes and wake up.” I insist. As he does, I can immediately see through his eyes once again. “That is cool.” Lawler can see what Sabastian sees as well. “Lawler? Is that you as well? I must be dreaming still.” Sabastian sighs. “It is me, my friend
Chapter 89- Elnora POV“I am sorry, what now?” I ask, moving away from him. “Short or long answer?” He asks me. “Short answer for now.” I bark at him. “Right, so your bloodline links you as a decedent to become Queen. With the way the Kingdom is currently being run, you could go in and stake your claim, and the Kingdom would automatically fall to you.” “Why did you hold this information from me?” “Because if they were to find out about you, then they would take you. Then you wouldn’t want to come back.” His eyes are welling with tears. He is frightened that I will leave him and that he will once again be alone in this house all alone. “Damn it, Lawler.” I begin pacing the floor. “I am sorry.” “Stop. Just stop apologizing for one day.” I demand of him. “How the hell do I do this?&rdqu
Chapter 90- Elnora POV“How do you know something is wrong with the boys?” He asks as we take two stairs at a time. “You didn’t hear Fulton call for me?” Shock has taken over my body as he shakes his head no. How could a vampire not hear the sound of someone screaming for me? It was loud enough for me to hear him. “MOM!” Fulton’s voice calls out as we reach for the door to the suit they are staying in.Lawler is through the door and out of sight before I even enter the living room. “What’s wrong?” I call to him as I turn into his room. My eyes immediately look to the location on the floor where they all reside. “What happened?” I call as I race to the side of them and kneel next to Merrick. “How long has he been unconscious?” I ask as I check his pulse and breathing. “He just went down when I called you. He looked bad a few minutes ago, and I told him that we should go down
Chapter 91- Elnora POV“SYDNEY!” I scream, hoping she hasn’t left yet. “Yes, my Queen?” She asks, returning into the room with a confused Talvin at her side. “Listen to what Merrick has to say.” I insist as I look back to him to retell his story for her. “So, you are telling me that a whole flock of them are in town? Why are they here?” Her attention turns to Lawler. “I am going to look into it and see what is going on. Can you handle that many?” He is concerned about her safety, and it is evident in his words. “Sir, I do not know if I can take on that many at one time and come out alive. Suppose it was only a handful, yes. The possibility of roughly ten or more, I do not know. I am sorry for my uncertainty, sir. I will give it a try, though.” Her dedication to the Kingdom is evident. “No. You are not leaving. It is not worth the risk. You can stay here tonight.” “Tha
Chapter 92- Sydney POV “All of us. Will you teach us how to defend ourselves against them?” My King has just asked me a question that I do not know how to answer. Admitting to someone that I kill these creatures is hard enough for me; teaching them to kill is a different level. Taking a moment to look back into the kitchen, I watch as they each take turns looking in and around the room. “Sir, what you are asking me to do.” A patio chair is launched in my direction and barely misses me as my Queen pulls me out of the way. “Let’s talk upstairs?” She insists. Immediately following them up the stairs to their master bedroom, I stop at their door. “Please come in Sydney.” The King insists. “Sir, I should not be in your personal chambers.” Keeping my eyes at my feet, I take a few steps into the room an
