We don't just play around the house because it turns out there is a beach nearby. White sandy beach. The water was bright blue like Tharique and Luke's eyes. They make castles out of sand together. Occasionally, it moved when the sea water hit, and the palace was destroyed again. "Uh, we have to go further, Dad," His little mouth protests and frowns; when he sees me, he smiles. "Wait, Mom, we will make a palace for Mom."

"Smart kid," I said and his father glanced at me.

"I need praise too."

"No, you're a bad daddy," I said, and Luke laughed. He was mocking his father, who was scowling. They both compete for more of my attention. I lay on the sand, watching them busy building and showing off their best.

From a distance, I saw Tharique's assistant bringing baking equipment and food ingredients in boxes. I stood up and prepared to greet them. Tharique raised his head to look. Our gazes met and I snickered. "Done! Luke, loses, and Dad wins."
