Damon's POV

"I need you to come home with me", I said, and it looked like Layla froze in her spot for a little while, before her eyebrows knitted in confusion

"Can I ask why?", she placed her notebook on the coffee table. "If this is about Dylan's party, I can plan it here and make it in time to celebrate it. I don't need to move back".

"It's not about Dylan's party", I said, and I could see her pinching herself on the arm. "Why are you pinching yourself?"

"Oh, it's nothing", she laughed it off a little, like she didn't even realize that she was pinching herself. "Then what is it about then?"

I drew a sharp breath. "I need your help"

"My help with what?"

"There's this new client at the company. The account is worth billions, and it can save the company from bankruptcy".

"That's great news, isn't it?"

"It was, until Mr Brown let her daughter, Ella to handle all the interactions between Brown enterprises and the company"

"So", her eyes lurked around in confusion for a bit. "What seems t

Damon's POVLayla looked so stunning, I literally couldn't keep my eyes from her. I'm glad Wesley was driving us to the ball since Harry is still with his family because I wouldn't even be able to concentrate on the road and I could see she was trying to hide the fact that she was blushing, and she honestly didn't like to be complemented, but I couldn't help it. Layla's POV“We're freshly out of popcorn”, Damon crushed the now empty, third paper bag of pop corn in his hands and stood up to throw it in the bin not so far from where we were sittingWhen he returned to his seat I was battling to keep my eyes open, kept rubbing then lazily while yawning“Ready to go back home?”, he asked, and I shook my head, placing my head back on his shoulder“Not yet”, I let out another quiet yawn before rubbing the sleep off my eyes again. “So, do you think Ella got the message?”He shrugged a little. “I don't know, but I think so”“Is it me, or she didn't seem to be shaken by seeing us together?”“Maybe, but she wouldn't freak out right there and then. Of course, she would put a brave front”, he chuckled for a bit as he shook his head.“What's so funny?”, I asked dumbfounded, looking at him, and he chuckled again“You should have seen her face when you kissed me, she was pissed”I laughed a little. “I don't know why out of all the available men in the world

Damon's POV"Quinton, tell me you're kidding", I stared in horror at my laptop screen, seeing a mount of dead bodies loaded out of the plane onto the ground, mostly covered with body bags. A sharp pain went through my chest and I groaned in pain, clenching onto my shirt as if by doing that the pain would go away."Damon, are you okay?", Quinton asked before I slammed the phone onto the receiver. My eyes watered as I kept looking at the news, thinking that Layla was possibly one of those lifeless bodies that laid on the ground, it was a horrific scene. People started gathering around and some had to be taken away due to being horrified by what they were seeing."It can't be", I whispered to myself, seeming to run out of breath and my heart was beating so fast, it felt like it was trying to rip itself out of my rib cage as my chest tightened, with me trying to let out a loud scream but nothing came outNot Layla, she can't be dead......she just cantThere must be a flipping huge mistake

Damon's POVLayla and I were slowly drifting away from each other. Between our demanding jobs and raising two children, we hardly had time for ourselves, so that could be together. We were even just too busy just to sit down and have a decent conversation or catch up over dinner or a glass of wine. Things got worse when I started working at nights so that I could meet the deadlines and sent out reports and prep for meetings for the next day. By the time I got home, she was already asleep.I was really frustrated by this and there was nothing I could do about it. She loved her job, and I love when she does things that make her happy. I felt neglected, and I know I also neglect her sometimes, we were both to blame.I decided to grab lunch at a small deli across the street today, I just didn't feel like eating sandwiches for lunch. I could do with a proper double cheeseburger, and some air. Being cupped up all day in the office was tiring and suffocating. I asked Carla to take messages o

Layla's POVIt was Ava's first birthday today. She was in my arms as I stood by her nursery window, looking at the event coordinator & catering team busy decorating the backyard into a red and white Minnie Mouse theme party, and by the looks of things, they were not holding anything back, this was definitely going to be one heck of a celebration.I didn't see why we had to throw such a big party for a one-year-old, she won't remember anything and will probably be asleep most of the time. But hey, who am I to say anything?. Damon started making arrangements for this day when she was barely even six months old. Pecks of being a daddies' girl huh?"Happy birthday my angel", I kissed her temple as she tugged on her red and white dotted skirt as she looked up on me and tried to pull her pacifier out her mouth. She was always doing something with her hands, like couldn't keep still for a long time. It was the fourth time today she took of her headband and threw it on the floor and then have

Look. I felt my heart starting to beat slow. "It's me, Damon"She regained that look on her face, before I saw her lips purse into a straight line, trying to hold back a laugh, I quickly realized what she did."Very funny Layla", I faked laughed, and she laughed softly"I couldn't help it, I'm sorry", she continued laughing, and I clicked my tongue. I nearly had a reverse heart attack from that stunt. She cupped my face in her hand and caressed my cheek and smiled lazily."You look terrible", she said quietly before chuckling softly and shook her head. I laughed, taking her hands in mine and turned my head to kiss th

Layla Kingsley", I took my tie off and unbuttoned the collar button so that I could breathe properly. The receptionist scanned through the book as quickly as she could."She's in the maternity ward on 3rd floor, second door on your left", she directed, and I thanked her before running towards the elevator, frantically pressing on the up buttonWhen I got off the elevator, my mother was pacing down in the waiting area and the closer I got, I saw that Layla's door was closed, and she stopped me just when I was about to walk in"You can't go in there", she warned"Why not?
