CHAPTER 4: HONEYMOON

CHAPTER 4: HONEYMOON

I was exhausted from interacting with those who attended our wedding; I stretch my legs one at a time to ease the pain while sitting on our bed. I even massage my ankles as it hurts so much when I stood for a long time earlier in the wedding while wearing high heels. I have finished massaging my ankles, so I slowly take off my wedding dress to change an ordinary one.

I looked around to find my suitcase, but it was not in the room. I was only half-naked when I quickly looked in the nook of the room, speculating that Leonard's men kept it somewhere here, but I failed to find it.

I tried to reckon where I put it when I remember that one of the bodyguards of my husband took it and put it in his car. I was expecting that the bodyguard already put it here in our room, but not here, so I was forced to open his closet to borrow at least one of his t-shirts.

As I opened it, I saw so many expensive clothes and they were signature ones. I was amazed because most of the designs have different colors, and others were still unused and have tags in them.

It was my first time see a so-called walked in closet, and indeed it was fantastic. It looks like a boutique. Wherein most of the fashionable clothes and accessories you will find.

Luckily I saw a black silk sleeveless nighties dress for ladies drop above the knee, so I wore it. The good thing is it suits me well as if prepared for me to wear.

I looked at the mirror and was impressed with my body. I never knew that I have a nice figure until today. It was my first time wearing something like this.

As I observed the curve of my body in the mirror, the door in the room opened. It was Leonard who entered the room. He was staring at me, and when he saw what I was wearing, his face suddenly change.

He came near to me with his eyes glazed in anger and yelled at me. "Who gave you the right to wear that dress?"

I felt afraid in his glaring eyes could not even utter a single word at all. Fear dominates me!

"Speak, you woman! What does your tongue cut?" he forced me to speak as he emphatically holds my arm.

"I-I'm sorry if I wore this, but my suitcase was nowhere to be found and got no choice but to borrow one of your clothes when I saw it." I cried as I answered.

He still clung tightly to my arm as I writhed in pain. He noticed that I was hurting, so he loosened his grip on my arm and calmed himself.

"Next time, don't ever dare touch my things without my permission, and one more thing, if you think that I'll sleep with you tonight, that would never be happening, maybe in your dreams? You sly woman! If you think that I didn't know your objectives, well, you're wrong! I know everything about you that you're only after to the wealth of my grandpa! Then to successfully attain it, you agreed to marry me but don't you think that you might destroy the relationship of others of what you did? You are selfish!" he said furiously.

He's right. I am selfish. I didn't realize that my impulsive decisions can destroy the life of someone, but what can I do? If what should not have happened has happened already, my grandma's life depends on it, so I could do nothing but sit on the floor and cry.

*****

It was late at night while Leonard was still wide awake drinking wine on the terrace of their house, thinking of what he did to his new wife. It's not his nature to hurt a woman, but he could not restrain himself because of his hatred of the woman he married. Leonard was blaming her for agreeing to marry him. He has this thought, 'That if only that woman refuses the offer of his grandpa, then maybe he wouldn't have been in a tight situation and wouldn't be forced to marry.'

The truth was he was already in love with someone, but his grandpa hated the family of his woman, so his grandpa disagrees with their relationship. But even though his grandfather did not agree to their relationship before, he still did not force him to separate until the woman he married came. That when his grandfather changed his mind and threatened him to disinherit if he disagrees; so he got no choice but to obey his grandpa.

He was the CEO of the company of his grandpa. He spent most of his time making it grow even more. That is why he couldn't afford to lose it in an instant. His grandfather was kind, but since his parents brutally murdered, it became even more protective. That is why he can't blame him.

"I thought that when on a wedding day, you would be the happiest man on earth, but why the opposite? Why do you seem to be mourning as if someone you love died?" his younger brother Ethan Lee teased him.

Leonard put his glass of wine on the table near him. He turned to his brother and said, "What do you think? What do you want me to do to celebrate? That, at last, I'll be marrying a woman I didn't know? When my woman was hurting knowing that his man married another woman?" he responded to his brother sarcastically as he continued sipping his wine.

His younger brother smirks at him while sitting opposite him with his right hand stretch widely on the chair.

"So, what's your plan?"

"I'll make a contract that in one year, I'll annul our marriage."

"What about her? Don't you think she will agree?" his brother asked him seriously.

"Of course she will because she can't refuse my offer like I'll give her money and business. She won't be at a loss to that, but if she disagrees, then her life will be hell!" Leonard answered his brother furiously while clenching his right hand that was holding the glass of wine.

*****

I was extremely anxious as I lay on the bed. I couldn't sleep, as I think in the glaring eyes of my husband. It was the opposite of what it shows at our wedding. That day when he was so good to me and caring. I felt that anytime the man I marry would strangle me while I am asleep due to hatred. I cried even more as I thought about what could happen. I blame myself for why I hadn't thought of such things before I agreed to get married. Then the door in the room where I laid opened slowly. I was trembling in fear when I think that it might be my husband. I am pretending to be asleep as I quietly alert myself. That if ever anytime my husband would attack me, I could dodge.

*****

Leonard was slowly walking towards his bed. He is tipsy because of the wine he drank. Leonard sits on the bed and looks at his sleeping wife.

He felt sorry for her because of what he had done. He was just really driven by his emotion. He wanted to touch her to say sorry, but his pride prevailed. He lay down beside her and turned his back to her. Then he falls asleep.

*****

I waited until my husband falls asleep. I slowly open my eyes to take a peep. My husband was beside me. I slowly bend my body to look at him to make sure that he was sound asleep. Indeed he was already sleeping. So I carefully lay down beside him and turned my back on him, and fall asleep.
