Chapter 4

Author: Mizuki Sei
‘Just look at how unabashed this man is acting! This is ridiculous!’ Renee thought. She had always viewed Stefan as someone who was morally sound and would never commit adultery.

In the end… the very same man she thought so highly of, dropped a nuclear bomb on her. Not only did he intend on marrying his mistress, but they were expecting as well.

This was the last push that Renee needed to move on completely. The tinge of sadness in her heart had completely vanished.

“So this means you were cheating on me, right?”

Before Stefan could respond, Briar hurriedly placed herself between them. Teary-eyed, she said, “Ms. Everheart, it’s all my fault! If it makes you feel better, you can punish me however you want…”

‘Does this woman think this is some soap opera? She’d make a great actress, honestly.’

“Really now?” Renee raised her hand up high as if she was about to deliver a slap.

As soon as she realized what was going to happen, Briar squealed and darted behind Stefan.

“Didn’t you say I can punish you however I want? Why are you hiding?” Renee put up a fake smile as she ran her fingers through her hair, brushing them over her ear.

“Don’t be so dramatic, I’m no brute. I’m not going to beat you up like they normally do in the movies.”

“If you are truly in love with each other, I’d be more than happy to walk away from this relationship!”

“W-what?”

Briar was left dumbfounded by her words. She initially prepared to play the victim, but it turned out she didn’t have to play that card at all.

‘Looks like the rumors were true, Stefan and Renee really were just in a contractual marriage. Why else would she be so kind to her husband’s mistress?’

Renee continued speaking. “Since you cheated on me, it’s only fair that we make a few adjustments to our settlement.”

Hearing that Renee wanted a change in her compensation, Briar was so agitated that she dropped her facade.

“Stefan already said he’d give you 40 million dollars, along with a whole penthouse! He’s being generous enough as is! Besides, the Hunt family put in a lot of effort to clean up the mess your family made. How shameless of you…”

Renee nearly burst out laughing when she saw Briar break character.

“Aww, we’re not even legally divorced yet, and little Miss Mistress already has a say in his finances already? Are you scared that your man would lose all his money to this divorce? Who’s actually the greedy one here, hmm?”

Upon hearing the response, all color drained from Briar's face.

"T-that's not what I meant…"

Stefan remained calm and collected throughout the interaction. Staring at Renee with an intimidating aura, he uttered "Continue."

Renee took on his pressuring gaze head-on and listed out her new terms. "I don't want your money, nor the penthouse. Just hand over your law firm to me."

"By law firm, you’re referring to Hunts & Co.?" Stefan narrowed his eyes as he juggled his memory.

Being the top of the eight most powerful families in Beach City, the Hunt family were involved in all sorts of businesses. A single law firm was not significant enough to occupy Stefan's memory.

However, he did somewhat remember its existence, as it was in charge of handling all of the Hunt family's legal affairs. He merely viewed it as a charity organization, since the employees were earning high salaries without much work to handle.

The firm simply had no economic value to the Hunt family.

'This woman decides to turn down the 40 million dollars and instead asks for such a worthless asset? What is she thinking?'

Suddenly, he started seeing Renee in a new light. Although it had only been a few days, she seemed… like a completely different person.

"Well, that's my only condition. I'll send you an amended copy of the documents soon… It's getting late, so if you’ll excuse me!"

"Oh, and I wish you a fruitful life with your little lover."

Renee lifted her chin and revealed a satisfied grin as if she had just scored herself a phenomenal business deal. Sadly, her cool demeanor only lasted for a second.

Her head began to spin, and her vision turned black seconds later…

Renee sat on the back of the horse, looking energetic and proud. She said to Sadler, who was looking up at her, "Let's go, Sadler. Are you scared?" Sadler regained his wits and shook his head. He angrily gnashed his teeth and said, "Stop flattering yourself. My black horse is the best!" After that, he fiercely rode on the horse. The racecourse was divided into several zones with galloping, crossing, and galloping around the course. The first person who reached the finish line was the winner.Sadler fiercely pressed onto the horse's stomach when the referee gave a command. The black horse speedily galloped forward."Wow! He's amazing! No wonder he's a professional!"The distance between Sadler and Renee instantly grew larger. Leia, who was sitting on the stands, grew anxious. She felt that it was an unfair game for Renee."Yes, he's a professional, but he can't be compared to a talented person. It's just started. Watch!" Leia confidently drank some tea and kept looking at Ren

"This white horse is the wildest. It's very hard to tame it. No one could make it this happy right from the start. It always provokes everyone. But it welcomes you. That's unbelievable!" The staff member looked at the white horse, which was neighing. He sounded more excited than the horse."Really?" Renee was delighted. Of course, she liked animals, especially horses. Horses were a symbol of freedom, bold and full of energy. However, she was not an equestrian enthusiast. She always found the horses in the stables miserable. The horses had lost those features, regardless of whether they were used for entertainment or racing. She felt that horses belonged in the grasslands."I'm not lying. It's been many years since we've had this horse. Its breed is the best, and it reacts fast. It's also resilient. But hard to tame. Other horses have owners, but no one successfully adopts this because it's hard to tame," the staff member explained. "That's so special! I like it!" Hearing that

"Fine. Let's get started!"After they reached a consensus, they decided to compete.Renee walked toward the stable and was about to pick the white horse that had thrown Sadler off just now.Liam and Leia were with her because they were worried. "Forget it, Ren. It's too risky." Leia held Renee's hand and wanted to stop the latter for fear of any accident. After all, an experienced rider like Sadler failed to tame the horse and had a slight bone misalignment from the fall.As a novice who was not good at horseback riding, Renee might face more serious consequences. Liam did not stop Renee but looked at Renee confidently. "Trust her. I think she can do it."Leia glared at Liam and said angrily, "What's wrong with you, Liam? You didn't stop her, and you made things worse!" "No, I didn't. I know her better than you. She never engages in any fight that she can't win. Since she boldly takes up the challenge, I'm sure she has the confidence to win," Liam said logically.Renee sna

Hearing that, everyone became vigilant.Renee sipped a drink and faked a smile. "I'm listening."Sadler chuckled and was no longer solemn. He then said something profound. "It's confidential. Of course, I can't tell you that. We were friends, but we're competitors now.""No, you're wrong." Renee screwed the cap bottle and gave him a provocative look. "We were never friends. We're always competitors. Back then, we competed academically, and now, we're competing for the shares in the market!"Her words made Liam and Leia clap for her."Well said! They aren't friends. He's gloomy and cunning. We don't know when he'll frame Ren." Leia lowered her voice and muttered to Liam behind Renee. If Renee were his friend, Leia would find it unacceptable. Since it was not the case, Leia did not have to worry. It was because they were never friends. "You broke my heart, Renee. If that's the case, I won't go easy on you. My company will replace yours soon enough. You've got to be ready!" Sa

"Sure!" Renee raised her chin and sounded confident."Ren, are you serious? Why don't you learn it first?" Leia became worried. After all, the horses there seemed hard to tame. Even Sadler, who was experienced, was thrown off the horse."It's fine." Renee started warming up and said calmly, "I'm a fast learner. A glimpse will do. Plus, the key to horseback riding isn't about taming a horse but choosing a horse that suits me. It'll get a lot easier after picking a suitable horse."She had never learned horseback riding. But during her childhood, her mother helped her sign up for some lessons. But she found all activities related to animals cruel. Hence, she was not interested in it and did not persist either. She knew some basic equestrian rules but had no practical experience. But she had grasped the key when she watched from the stands. The riders who shared the same temperaments with the horses and got along with the horses could ride the horses well. Sadler and that whi

  • The Untouchable Ex-Wife   Chapter 2650

Sadler was trying his best to tame a white horse in the field. As an equestrian enthusiast, he was a skilful equestrian. However, that horse refused to cooperate and kept raising its hind legs. The other equestrian enthusiasts at the field tamed their horses well. Additionally, a large number of spectators filled the stands. Hence, Sadler looked quite miserable. "Stupid!" Embarrassed, Sadler fished his whip out to whip the horse's back after several failed attempts to tame the horse. In response, the white horse neighed more wildly. Sadler failed to tame it and was thrown to the ground. The staff members sitting beside Renee were scared out of their wits at such a scene. They immediately rushed to the field.Renee looked at Sadler, who grimaced in pain on the ground. Then, she said to Liam and Leia, "Stay here. I'll go and meet him."After that, she entered the field. A lot of people gathered around Sadler. They tried to help him up, but he turned them down."Go away!
