One Hundred and Thirty

May’s POV

As soon as I walked into the hospital room, my mood had changed from good to sour in less than a second, but I had been trying to hide it, in my response, in how I look at him.

Yeah, I was talking about my boss, Gary.

The thing was, I and Brent had been working tirelessly to both find out why he smiled that night, to know whose invite that man had used in coming into the party, and to look into Gary.

He had called me, Brent I mean, just as I was having a late lunch with Ellen, to tell me what he had found out. I had had to excuse myself to go to the bathroom to listen to what he had to say.

Brent had them told me what he found out. “I found the invite, May. I must have kept it in my car at some point. I checked it out as soon as I saw it, and I realized it was for Gary Keith.” He had told me, and for a while, my mouth had dropped open in surprise, not believing my ears one bit.

What was going on? Why would Gary give someone his invite if he didn’t have an ulterior motive? Wh
