Dominic's pov I stepped out of the room with a feeling of satisfaction. Emily was the perfect bait to get to Maximus, and I had no doubt he was going to fall for the trick because of his liking for women. Emily was too beautiful to resist for sure. While walking to my office, my mind was filled with the thought of her, she was smart and highly resourceful and although many would say it is due to her time as an agent, I view it differently, she has taken down several Mafia lords and having her with me could pose as a risk, but it was worth it. By the time I arrived at my office, I had sat down by my desk and picked up my phone, dialling Barry's phone. "Barry, I need you to brief Emily on the plan we talked about and make sure she knows what is expected of her, I already showed her the layout, but I know you will come up with something even better." "Alright boss," he replied. "Permit me to ask, but are you sure we can trust her? Remember, she is a federal agent, and they are very tr
Maximus POV "Are you sure he is going to answer your call to come to the address?" One of the men asked, to which I shook my head. "Knowing Dominic, he probably has some shady things off his sleeves, but I know he will come." I turned to the clubhouse, thinking of my plan that would soon be placed in motion. The rain was heavy, but the boys had taken it upon themselves to bring an umbrella. I had made my way into the club. The loud music blasted through the speakers, making everyone sway their hips to its rhythm. I wasn't here to party; I had serious business at hand, and there was only one place I could discuss my business: in the inner room. If Dominic was thinking he could be smart about concealing the deeds from me, I think I could take away the one last backup he replied to; Anderson. Before I would be allowed access into the inner room, I was to be checked thoroughly by the security at the doors, and the moment I gained access, I was welcomed into a smoke-filled atmosphere.
Dominic's POV We would soon arrive at a distant location, one that had nobody in sight. I noticed the familiar statue of Maximus standing at the entrance of the unfurnished house with a smile on his face. "Great to see you again dear friend. I hope your trip was successful." "Maximus listen to me! I won't fall for your gimmicks, and if you think I am going to hand you the deeds again, then think about it." I warned, struggling through the cuff. "Somethings didn't change about you, Dominic. You are still that stubborn man that I know and I want you to access the situation right now with me. No one is going to save you from my hand if you don't hand me the deeds." "I would rather die than do that," I said spitting on the floor. "Very well then, you called for it." He said and I was pushed further into the building. My eyes landed on an unconscious body. As soon as the room became bright, I studied the body briefly and realized it was Maria, Emily's sister. "I thought she was dead
Dominic's pov The beep from the monitor constantly disturbing my ears forced me to force my eyes open. The rays of the light made me squint my eyes and I groaned in pain, getting up from the bed. "Oh my God! Dominic, you are okay!" Emily rushed over to my side. I noticed tears in her eyes as she hugged me tight. "What happened?" I asked the moment she broke free from the hug. "Anderson’s men saved Maria and you." She said, still sobbing. "...he could not make it." She added sobbing even further. The weight of her words dawned on me, and I knew what she was talking about: Anderson was dead. "They found his body outside the building you and Maria were taken from. He seemed to have been shot dead by Maximus ." I gripped the pillow sheets in rage. Maximus was truly taking everything and everyone away from me. "What about Maria ?" I asked. "She is fine. The doctor said she suffered a concussion. Dominic, I am scared! Maximus has become a true monster. We cannot let him ke
Maximus’s povWhen I arrived at Jace's apartment, the weather had become warm once more, and I helped Jace turn on the air conditioner while heading to his room. Jace was an adept reader who hated being disturbed, but I needed his help if I ever wanted to get the deeds.Upon stepping into his room, there was no sign of Jace. The tables were littered with books. Typical of him to always be unorganized. While I went down to get the pillows, I noticed something unfamiliar. I looked to see Jace's slippers at the front of his bathroom. Jace never leaves these things in the bathroom before, so what was going on? I made my way slowly to the door of the bathroom, where I leaned closer to get a grasp of what was happening. The shower was running and it appeared that someone was having their bath. The moment I opened the door, I gasped in disbelief at the scene of horror displaying itself right before my eyes.I was staring at the lifeless body of Jace, who appeared to have been drowned in
Maximus’s Pov I stepped into the company at the strike of midnight, fully aware that it was going to be a tough confrontation with Dominic. The moment I pulled the door to my office open, I found Dominic sipping a cup of Hennessy with several documents on the table and a smile plastered across his face. "You know, I never thought you would have the balls to make a move; I give it to you. I never expected you to go for Jace.." I commented, standing by the door. "Oh, so you now choose words to use now? Jace deserves death. He was the brain behind your action, and I figured it was perfect. I ended him." Dominic said. I watch him hold a paper in his hand. "Right here in my hand is the deed to the company. You asked for it, now I have brought it for you." I stared at him for a moment, wondering what he was up to. "You must think I am a fool, Dominic. I know your tricks and I know you won't be willing to sacrifice your last hope to secure the company from me easily. So what do you hav
Dominic's PovOnce the door to the elevator opened, we rushed outside the company to find Maximus already surrounded by the police. "It's over, Maximus; just give it up. Your time has come to an end." I yelled out. "You had this all planned out didn't you?" He asked, his hands raised in the air. "You failed to prepare properly. I have been planning a raid on you for the past weeks, watching your every move instantly. I want you to know that when the time comes, the law will always catch up with you."One of the policemen with the cuffs stepped forward and held his hands. In a matter of seconds, I watched him pull out a gun from the police hand and I felt something hit me in the chest. My vision became blurry as I also watched Maximus fall to his knees. I looked at my hand and realized he had shot me with the gun."Dominic! You will be alright." Scorpion's right-hand man was beside me. I couldn't think of anything in the world other than staying in the arms of Emily at that moment.
Emily's PovThe moment I opened the door, Dominic's body lay there completely lifeless as I approached him. Some of the nurses were trying to get me away, but no one was separating me from the love of my life."He can't possibly be dead." I struggled through their grip. "He needs to stay alive, for the sake of Anita and... myself." Tears dropped down my eyes, as I stared at his body. Even though he was my abductor, I still did not want him dead because of how much he loved his daughter. "Dominic, please! You always say you would never leave my side. I need you to keep that promise please." I looked up at him, his eyes shot close. I couldn't contain myself anymore, I couldn't even breathe. It almost felt like a part of me was moving away with Dominic and I was on a thin line between sanity and delusion. As I lay beside him, my tears reducing to sobs, my ears picked up the sound of the monitor beeping over and over again. I looked up to see the beeping sound coming from the machine at
DOMINIC'S POV The silence in the room was very heavy. The only sound in the room was of Emily clicking away on the laptop. She was so engrossed in the work, in trying to find anything that would help us take Crowley and Damien back. She spent the whole day on the encrypted server. “I can't really find anything more on him,” Emily said frustration filling her voice. I put my hand over hers and soothed my thumb over it. “Don't be too hard on yourself. Just take a break, and we can continue later. It's already getting dark. I think we should take a shower and sleep.” I told her. With a resolved sigh, she nodded her head, and I helped her up with my good arm. The pain from my injury was still very bad, but Emily disinfected it every night and dressed it. It was beginning to heal, but not as fast, and I could like it. Damien could strike at any time, and I needed to be ready. I could not do that with an injured shoulder. I hoped they would hold up any future attacks until I was
EMILY’S POV Dominic sat on the bed, still looking at the file. His jaw was clenched and I could see the calculating fury in his eyes. The way he went quiet when he was angry would be terrifyingly for somebody else, but not for me. It looked like a storm was brewing on the surface, and it was about to erupt and cause destruction. “This changes everything.” He told me, not looking away from the screen. He began to rub his temples with his good hand and I could tell that he was getting stressed. I moved to stand behind him, and I began to rub his back softly, which seemed to reduce the tension in his body. “We were focusing so much on Damien.” He said. “Trying to take him down, but all this while we were chasing the shadows. Damien is my brother; that much is true, and I think Crowley found that out and used what my father did to get in his head.” I nodded, releasing a slow breath and coming to sit beside him. “And if what the files say is true—and I believe it is, then we hav
EMILY’S POV I woke up feeling very groggy and sour from the night before. I reached out instinctively, my hand brushing against the side of his bed that was still warm. He wasn't in bed with me. I sat up straight, wincing at the dull ache between my legs. My mind went back to last night. It had been very intense and wonderful. Dominic moved in and out of me with animalistic strengths. He had an injured shoulder, but even that had not been able to stop him. Then he pulled me into his arms afterwards and whispered sweet words into my ears till I fell asleep. I ran my fingers through my hair, which was in a tangled mess. I wrapped the sheets tight around my body and walked to the window. It was a beautiful morning. The sun was shining, the sky was clear, the birds chirping in the trees. I couldn't help but feel a moment of happiness. But that feeling didn't last long when I remembered that danger was lurking in the shadows. Steven Crowley. A chill ran down my spine at the thoug
DOMINIC'S POV His Jaws were clenched as I spoke. I could see the obvious irritation on his face, but he was trying his best to conceal it. “Yes, sir.” “You've been my right-hand man for over ten years, and I am impressed with your work, and I've never had any reason to question your loyalty to me,” I told him. His features softened, and he looked happy with my approval, I could tell by the way his body relaxed. “Thank you, sir. It is a pleasure to work with you.” “I will be stepping away from my position for some time once this is over. I'm not getting any younger, and I need to work on building my family and producing an heir.” He turned to look at me like I'd slapped him across the face. “But things don't work that way, Dominic. Who will be in charge once you leave?” “You,” I said simply, and he looked like he was taken aback by this. “What?” He asked, his voice shaking. I've known Barry for a long time and it often took a lot to surprise him. He'd been through har
DOMINIC'S POVThe next morning, I peeled my eyes open slowly, and it was shining into the room. Emily was still asleep beside me, looking gorgeous and peaceful with the sheets wrapped around her naked form. I got out of bed, careful not to wake her up. I picked up my phone and sent a text blast to Victor, Barry, and Ezra. “Meet me in the basement, now.” I pulled on a tee shirt and a pair of black sweatpants, which took longer than usual because of my shoulders, which still hurt excessively. Emily was right, and I needed to get the wound treated by a professional. I'll have Victor call his doctor to take a look at the injury. I could not afford any distractions during this period when the threat from Damien seemed to be growing. When I got to the basement, all three of them were already there. Barry and Victor looked up and alert as usual, but Victor looked exhausted even though he'd spent the whole of the previous day resting. “Dominic, what was so urgent that you had to take me
DOMINIC'S POVEmily’s words kept playing over and over again in my head long after she said them. Dominic Moreno doesn't lose. I wish I had eleven of them with the same strong conviction as she did. I stared at the screen, at the man with calculating eyes staring back at me. Steven Crowley. The name did not ring a bell, although I had many enemies that I didn't even know about. So many people hated me. But the pattern of his involvement with Damien was what caught my interest. Originally, I thought that Damien had just been assembling thugs, but that wasn't the case anymore. He was building a strong army, and even I could not deny that he had very good alliances. It was obvious that that Crowley man was the brain behind what happened yesterday. Emily’s hands were still on my shoulders, kneading them softly to take the tension away. Her gentle fingers were very comforting. I looked up at her. Her hair was in a messy bun on top of her head, and her eyes were tired from sleep, but they
EMILY’S POVThe next morning, I could barely stand to look at myself in the mirror. My eyes were swollen from lack of sleep. My eye bags were probably the worst ones a person could have. My heart was also still very heavy with everything that had happened. Dominic was still asleep as I slipped out of bed. I had to be very careful so I would not wake him up. He definitely needed the rest. He looked more relaxed as a result of the painkillers he had taken, which had dulled the pain from his industry. I pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, and then I made my way to Victor's study. The house was very quiet. Ezra and Barry had gone out to train the men, and Victor was still resting. That gave me the type of peace I needed to work. It had been a long time since I'd put my braid to good use, and I was excited. I sat in on Dominic's heavily secured computer. Just as he'd given access to his encrypted network right before he went to bed yesterday. Although I knew he did so with reluctance, i
DOMINIC'S POVThe pain in my shoulder kept me awake long after everybody had slept. Emily had insisted on staying by my side, but I knew that she was tired, and I made her lie down. The only time Emily genuinely looked to be at peace was when she was asleep. Whenever she was awake, I could see the worry in her eyes. I knew that she was having a hard time, and I felt bad because I put her in this situation, but I was going to make it right. Victor had gone to sleep immediately. His injury was not as deep as mine, but he was in pain nonetheless. Victor never complained, no matter how bad things got. I stared at the ceiling as I went over everything that happened in my mind. We had gone in just as planned. We had been fast and efficient, and we launched our attacks with precision. Everything was going well until ten minutes later when Damien's men began to attack. They were prepared—too prepared. That wasn't as a result of luck. They had been very strategic. And Damien was after me.
EMILY’S POV The car doors opened, and the men came out of the car one by one. Fear gripped my chest frantically as my eyes landed on Dominic, who was leaning against Barry with blood soaking through his white shirt. I immediately left the room and rushed downstairs to meet them. When I finally got to where they were, I noticed that Dominic's teeth were clenched in pain. “Dominic…” I breathed, walking towards him and looking him over. “I'm fine.” He muttered stubbornly through gritted teeth. “Your shirt is soaked in blood. You are not fine,” I said, placing his hand over my shoulders. “Let's go inside so I can take a look at it.” Victor appeared out of the car, clutching his side in pain and limping. He wasn't wearing a shirt, and I noticed that a nasty bruise was already beginning to form at his side, just above his ribs. Even though he was in obvious pain, he managed to give me a weak smile. “Don't worry, Em. We made it alive, just some minor injuries.” He said with a shrug, a
