Maximus POV "Are you sure he is going to answer your call to come to the address?" One of the men asked, to which I shook my head. "Knowing Dominic, he probably has some shady things off his sleeves, but I know he will come." I turned to the clubhouse, thinking of my plan that would soon be placed in motion. The rain was heavy, but the boys had taken it upon themselves to bring an umbrella. I had made my way into the club. The loud music blasted through the speakers, making everyone sway their hips to its rhythm. I wasn't here to party; I had serious business at hand, and there was only one place I could discuss my business: in the inner room. If Dominic was thinking he could be smart about concealing the deeds from me, I think I could take away the one last backup he replied to; Anderson. Before I would be allowed access into the inner room, I was to be checked thoroughly by the security at the doors, and the moment I gained access, I was welcomed into a smoke-filled atmosphere.
Dominic's POV We would soon arrive at a distant location, one that had nobody in sight. I noticed the familiar statue of Maximus standing at the entrance of the unfurnished house with a smile on his face. "Great to see you again dear friend. I hope your trip was successful." "Maximus listen to me! I won't fall for your gimmicks, and if you think I am going to hand you the deeds again, then think about it." I warned, struggling through the cuff. "Somethings didn't change about you, Dominic. You are still that stubborn man that I know and I want you to access the situation right now with me. No one is going to save you from my hand if you don't hand me the deeds." "I would rather die than do that," I said spitting on the floor. "Very well then, you called for it." He said and I was pushed further into the building. My eyes landed on an unconscious body. As soon as the room became bright, I studied the body briefly and realized it was Maria, Emily's sister. "I thought she was dead
Dominic's pov The beep from the monitor constantly disturbing my ears forced me to force my eyes open. The rays of the light made me squint my eyes and I groaned in pain, getting up from the bed. "Oh my God! Dominic, you are okay!" Emily rushed over to my side. I noticed tears in her eyes as she hugged me tight. "What happened?" I asked the moment she broke free from the hug. "Anderson’s men saved Maria and you." She said, still sobbing. "...he could not make it." She added sobbing even further. The weight of her words dawned on me, and I knew what she was talking about: Anderson was dead. "They found his body outside the building you and Maria were taken from. He seemed to have been shot dead by Maximus ." I gripped the pillow sheets in rage. Maximus was truly taking everything and everyone away from me. "What about Maria ?" I asked. "She is fine. The doctor said she suffered a concussion. Dominic, I am scared! Maximus has become a true monster. We cannot let him ke
Maximus’s povWhen I arrived at Jace's apartment, the weather had become warm once more, and I helped Jace turn on the air conditioner while heading to his room. Jace was an adept reader who hated being disturbed, but I needed his help if I ever wanted to get the deeds.Upon stepping into his room, there was no sign of Jace. The tables were littered with books. Typical of him to always be unorganized. While I went down to get the pillows, I noticed something unfamiliar. I looked to see Jace's slippers at the front of his bathroom. Jace never leaves these things in the bathroom before, so what was going on? I made my way slowly to the door of the bathroom, where I leaned closer to get a grasp of what was happening. The shower was running and it appeared that someone was having their bath. The moment I opened the door, I gasped in disbelief at the scene of horror displaying itself right before my eyes.I was staring at the lifeless body of Jace, who appeared to have been drowned in
Maximus’s Pov I stepped into the company at the strike of midnight, fully aware that it was going to be a tough confrontation with Dominic. The moment I pulled the door to my office open, I found Dominic sipping a cup of Hennessy with several documents on the table and a smile plastered across his face. "You know, I never thought you would have the balls to make a move; I give it to you. I never expected you to go for Jace.." I commented, standing by the door. "Oh, so you now choose words to use now? Jace deserves death. He was the brain behind your action, and I figured it was perfect. I ended him." Dominic said. I watch him hold a paper in his hand. "Right here in my hand is the deed to the company. You asked for it, now I have brought it for you." I stared at him for a moment, wondering what he was up to. "You must think I am a fool, Dominic. I know your tricks and I know you won't be willing to sacrifice your last hope to secure the company from me easily. So what do you hav
Dominic's PovOnce the door to the elevator opened, we rushed outside the company to find Maximus already surrounded by the police. "It's over, Maximus; just give it up. Your time has come to an end." I yelled out. "You had this all planned out didn't you?" He asked, his hands raised in the air. "You failed to prepare properly. I have been planning a raid on you for the past weeks, watching your every move instantly. I want you to know that when the time comes, the law will always catch up with you."One of the policemen with the cuffs stepped forward and held his hands. In a matter of seconds, I watched him pull out a gun from the police hand and I felt something hit me in the chest. My vision became blurry as I also watched Maximus fall to his knees. I looked at my hand and realized he had shot me with the gun."Dominic! You will be alright." Scorpion's right-hand man was beside me. I couldn't think of anything in the world other than staying in the arms of Emily at that moment.
Emily's PovThe moment I opened the door, Dominic's body lay there completely lifeless as I approached him. Some of the nurses were trying to get me away, but no one was separating me from the love of my life."He can't possibly be dead." I struggled through their grip. "He needs to stay alive, for the sake of Anita and... myself." Tears dropped down my eyes, as I stared at his body. Even though he was my abductor, I still did not want him dead because of how much he loved his daughter. "Dominic, please! You always say you would never leave my side. I need you to keep that promise please." I looked up at him, his eyes shot close. I couldn't contain myself anymore, I couldn't even breathe. It almost felt like a part of me was moving away with Dominic and I was on a thin line between sanity and delusion. As I lay beside him, my tears reducing to sobs, my ears picked up the sound of the monitor beeping over and over again. I looked up to see the beeping sound coming from the machine at
EmilyThe route to the graveyard was on the outskirts of the city. Dominic suggested we bring flowers and dress in black attire to pay tribute to Maximus. I may not like the idea of seeing Maximus's grave, but one thing was certain, he changed everything about Dominic's family.Making our way through the cemetery, we arrived at his graveyards minutes later, and I was particularly surprised by the sight of a familiar face kneeling before his grave."Maria?" I called and she turned around to look at us."Oh hey!" She said getting up to her feet and wiping the tears in her eyes. She rushed to engulf me in a warm hug and we remained in that position for some time."What are you doing here?" I asked the moment we broke free from the hug."I came to drop some flowers at his grave," Maria revealed with teary eyes. I couldn't make up the reasons for her tears; they didn't make any sense to me."I know it sounds ridiculous after everything he has put me through, but then I have a confession to
DOMINIC'S POVI woke up the next morning feeling on top of the world, but that didn't last long when I got a text from Victor telling me that three of my warehouses had been burnt to the ground. Carlos and Williams were dead, which meant that this was obviously Damien's attack. He was attacking everything I'd built with my hands from scratch. When my father died, he left everything in shambles, and when I took over, I had to rebuild all over again, and now Damien thought he could ruin everything I've worked so hard to get because he is bitter. I'll make sure I end him before he ends me. Just as I got to my study, my phone began to buzz in my pocket. I answered it without looking at the caller ID, expecting it to either be Victor or Barry. An unfamiliar voice came through the phone, but I knew who it was immediately. “Hello, baby brother.” He said coyly. “I am not your brother.” I spat out. “I am going to get you. When I get my hands on you, you'll wish you'd never fucked with me.”
EMILY’S POV I felt strong arms around my waist and my eyes fluttered open. I had fallen asleep while reading a book and it was already dark outside. I turned around to face Dominic and Buried my face in his chest, inhaling his intoxicating scent. “You fell asleep and you missed dinner.” He told me, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “I'm not hungry,” I told him, my eyes still heavy with sleep, but my body was fully aware of his presence. I pulled his head down to mine and kissed him, my body humming with desire for him. He groaned into my mouth and deepened the kiss, pulling me closer to him. I could feel his erection through his trousers and I could not help but use my hands to feel it. Dominic inhaled a sharp breath and broke the kiss. He untied the robe that I had been wearing, revealing the fact that I was wearing nothing but matching dark, blue lace panties and bra. He placed a kiss on my shoulder and looked up at me with a knowing smile on his face. “Were you waiting for me t
DAMIEN'S POVRage filled me as the news of Williams and Carlos's death hung heavily in the air. They had been two of my biggest Allies; I contacted them immediately, and I found out that they hated Dominic Moreno just as much as I did. We had spent so much time building the perfect plan. I was upset when the bomb did not kill Dominic, but I wasn't going to give up. Now he had been one step ahead of me and he killed them… burnt everything to the ground. My fist clenched, and my blood boiled with fury. He was always one step ahead… every time I thought that I had finally had him cornered, he showed up with something new. A bomb? How had he gotten access to such a high explosive? I should have known better than to trust anyone to carry out my revenge plans, I knew nobody would be able to execute as accurately as me. Williams and Carlos had hated Dominic, but mine ran deeper than that. He'd stripped me of everything that I deserved and I wanted it back. He was going to pay for the sins
DAMIEN'S POVPower was not given to men like me, so we had to find a way to take it, by any means necessary. This was my time to take back everything that was supposed to be mine but was ripped away from me the moment Dominic Moreno had been born. My stupid brother, my father's most precious son, the one he wanted. I stood on the rooftop of the abandoned warehouse, overlooking the dock where my men were offloading thousands of weapons that had just been shipped in from Russia. They moved them into armoured trucks. I was planning on launching an attack that would knock my half-brother off his feet. I lit a cigarette, the smoke curling around my face. My father had cast me aside, buried me like I was a dirty secret and practically wiped me from existence, but he forgot something: secrets always had a way of coming back up to the surface. Dominic was everything that I should have been—the heir to the Moreno Crime Organization, the legitimate son, the one who was in charge of everythi
EMILY’S POVDominic had not said a word in over twenty minutes. He just sat there, his head resting on my shoulder, his strong arms wrapped tightly around my waist as if he were afraid that if he let go, I would disappear. I also held him just as tightly, fully aware that he needed to be held. We both didn't say anything. I knew something was very wrong, I just wasn't sure what it was yet. I just knew that Dominic was hurting and whatever had happened had cracked something inside of him. “I should have picked up her calls…” He said, finally. His voice was soft and hoarse, I could hear the intense emotions in his voice. “I didn't and now I regret it.” Mt's heart broke for him. “Who are you talking about, Dominic?” “My mother… Her house was burnt down yesterday and she was in it. She didn't make it out alive.” He told me and a gasp escaped my mouth. “I am so sorry, Dominic.” That was the only thing I could think of to say. I knew there was nothing I could say that would dull the pa
EMILY’S POV I paced in front of Dominic's door to his study. It was the sixth time today that I had come to check on him, but he didn't answer or let anybody in. This only heightened my worries because I worried that something may have happened to him in there. Lorenzo said that he requested to be alone and I wondered why. He had been fine in the morning when I had seen him… what could have gone wrong? “Dominic?” I said, knocking on the door again, but I got the same response—none. “He still isn't coming out?” Sofia asked, walking up to stand next to me. “No. He's not responding. What if something happened to him? What if he's dead? Oh, I'm so worried about him, I have the mind to break down the door.” I told her, I could hear my voice shaking with fear. “Try to calm down. Lorenzo said he wants to be alone so maybe you should just give him the space that he wants. He will come down when he is ready.” She said, But it became dark, and Dominic still wasn't out of his study. I show
DOMINIC'S POV Hours had passed since my phone call with Barry, and I was thinking about what to do about the situation. I went through the digital files to learn more about the man who was supposed to be my brother. There wasn't much information about him other than the fact that he had worked with my father for a short time, but I never met him. I could not understand how that was even possible. Emily eventually woke up from sleep and she found me in my study. She looked like she had just rolled out of bed and it warmed my heart that she came to look for me first. I shut off my laptop in a way that she didn't get suspicious. I didn't want her to even have a little bit of an idea that something was wrong. “You're up early.” She said as she walked into the office. I got up and walked the short distance over to her and pulled her into my arms. “Yeah. I didn't want to wake you up.” “Is everything okay?” She asked with an uncertain look on her face. I smiled at her, trying to
DOMINIC'S POV The next morning, I woke up to the sun shining brightly into my eyes. Emily was sound asleep, her body curled into mine. For the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to listen to her breathe softly. But that peaceful feeling didn't last long. The buzzing from my phone forced me to peel my eyes open. The vibration was low, but it was persistent. I reached for the phone, careful not to wake Emily up. It was a message from Barry. “We found something. You really need to see this. Check your encrypted line.” Instead of responding to the message, I carefully left the bed. I didn't want to wake Emily up even by mistake because I knew that she really needed her sleep. I headed to the study and shut the door behind me before switching my laptop on. The screen came alive and I connected to the secure channel. Barry and Ezra's faces popped up instantly. “What is it?” I demanded. “We did scans on the footage from the attack in the estate in Ireland. Facial recognition w
DOMINIC'S POV The estate in Sydney was almost like a luxurious fortress. It was hidden in the hills and surrounded by thick, beautiful eucalyptus trees and placed at the back of miles of private land. The main house was modern—a smart house, it was beautifully decorated, and we made sure it was heavily secured with state-of-the-art security surveillance, motion sensors, and encrypted alarm systems; I got heavily armed men patrolling the grounds every time. We got them from a security agency with heavily trained men from the military. But still, my mind was not at ease. We had only been in Australia for a week, but I could not shake away the heaviness that was in my chest. Emily and the rest of the girls were trying to adjust. Emily was putting on a brave face for the girls and Sofia, but I could still feel the tension in her body and the worry in her eyes. The attack had left a mark on everybody. “Dominic, we have finished installing the facial recognition system on the Nor
