Emily POV

Staring out the window of my car, I admired the beauty of the Moreno estate. It is such a shame that a family of this calibre is involved with so many illegal activities.

"Emily!" I heard my name through the earpiece. "This is Adam, remember the plan, do this once and get out immediately. You are Lena Grant, a high society event planner, don't forget that."

Every single instruction he had dished out, I made sure to pay close attention. Being an undercover agent for the Central investigative office for several years comes with a lot of experience.

I am not new to the task, but for some reason, I have an odd feeling about this operation. This is the third week that I  have been rehearsing for the role after the case was brought before my desk, so the execution was never going to be a problem.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and stepped out of the vehicle onto the lawn of Moreno estate. The urge to just stand in awe and admire the beautiful piece of construction was heavy, but I knew I had work to do.

Adjusting my designer dress, I looked up with confidence and walked towards the entrance of the mansion.  No one will ever suspect that I am a top undercover agent because of my look and elegance as well, and this was my biggest card.

As I entered the mansion, my eyes looked across the room, searching for potential exists and also surveillance cameras.

"Remember, stay alert," Adam spoke through my earpiece.

Suddenly I found my target; Dominic Moreno, the custodian of Moreno's empire. His features were impressive, he was quite taller than I had seen him in photos and his piercing green eyes landed on me.

"Hello, my lady." His voice was deep and his eyes, although still intimidating, were also welcoming as well.

"Lena Grant," I say, extending my hand.

He hesitated, but eventually shook my hand firmly with a smile on his face.

"Welcome Lena, you are right on time for dinner." He responded. "Allow me to be your host for the dinner, so come with me." I smiled, taking his offer and walking beside him.

My eyes were always scanning every part of the hallway that we walked upon. I noticed the paintings on the wall, a clear indication that he loves art.

When we arrived at the dining table, several members of the Moreno family and their associates were so engrossed in conversations that they seemed not to have noticed our presence.

Dominic sat right next to me and for some reason, his closure made me uncomfortable. I did not like people breaking into my space, but this is what I had signed up for anyway.

As the main course arrived, my phone began to ring beneath the table. I noticed Dominic was distracted by a conversation with a man. I used the opportunity to check to find a notification coming from Adam.

'Moreno's financial record is a major clue that we need for this money laundering operation. Get close to him.'

My eyes moved to Dominic, and he appeared to still be engaged in the intense conversation.

"..... The Lucchesi family is making serious moves," The man speaking to Dominic tries to be as discreet as possible, but I hear everything he is saying. "We cannot let them enter our territory."

I noticed Dominic's face darkened and he glared at the man. "How many times do I need to inform you that there is time for everything Alessandro? Now is not the time for business, let's eat and discuss later."  I looked away, seeing he stopped the conversation.

My heart was racing with different thoughts, this was more than a family dinner. It will be interesting to see his face when the CIO catches up with him.

While everyone was busy eating their meal, I took time to look at every single one of them. The only person not part of my report is Alessandro, the rest are people I have read about.

Once the main course was over, the dessert was served and I heard Dominic clear his throat beside me.

"So tell me Lena, what brings you to this humble city?" He asks, breaking the abrupt silence at the table.

"I am expanding my event business here in this city, I heard about your family's great philanthropy and it caught my attention." My response has been something I practised before coming to this estate.

“Philanthropy?" I turned to Dominic, as his eyes narrowed mine with suspicion.

Maybe I overplayed that part, my mind raced with other options I could use.

"Don't worry, I was just kidding." He says, breaking the tension between us. "You and I should discuss business over a cup of wine, don't you think?"

"That will be perfect." I smiled back at him, trying to mask the anxiety that nearly took over me. "I would like to use the restroom," I announced and one of the maids came over to my side and helped me out of the table.

“Be careful Emily, Dominic is a man who is quick to find loopholes, you cannot mess this up," Adam spoke through the earpiece this time.

We stepped down the staircase, my heel making noise on the marble floor. The estate is huge and I doubt if we could explore the whole place.

Dominic stopped by the bar, filling his glass with scotch. While he sipped from his glass, his eyes were fixed on my body.

"I have to say, you look very stunning." He admits, dropping his glass to the table.

"Thank you very much, Dominic, you are also a great host as well," I responded.

This isn't the first time I get complimented for my looks, it is the card I held to the heart of several criminal minds that we caught in the past.

Dominic offered a glass of wine and for a moment I looked at the cup; I do drink when I am alone, but not around people.

'Ignore your principles and take the damn drink!' Adam yelled through the earpiece, making me grab the drink from him.

"Your family's history of giving out to people has impressed me a lot. I am sure we will be great partners to that effect." I mentioned, sipping from the glass.

"I am sure we will be great partners." He responded, taking a few steps forward. "I cannot help but be charmed by your beauty. It is rare to see your type across the country these days, it almost makes me...." He leaned closer and I knew what he wanted to do, but did not move from the spot.

His lips brushed against mine, but the moment was interrupted by his phone ringing. He chuckled and excused himself to answer the call.

'This is your chance Emily, go for it!' Adam ordered.

I looked around the rooms,  spotting an open door behind the bar. I looked back to see he was still on the phone and realised this could be my only chance.

Without hesitation, I slipped through the doorway, arriving at an office which I presumed belonged to him.

My eyes landed on several files and documents scattered across his desk, but my eyes spotted a peculiar folder which is labelled "Lucchesi Deal."

Pulling out my phone, I snapped photos of the document and right when I finished, placed them back neatly.

"What are you doing in my office?" I froze, hearing Dominic's voice echoed through the doorway.

Emily POV He stared at the table where I dropped the folders and then back at my phone. As he approached me, I felt my heart pounding. "Maybe I never said this from the beginning, but I don't like it when people enter places that they are not supposed to be." He glared at me, while his voice was laced with venom. 'You have to leave now!' I heard Adam yell through my earpiece, but I am not the type of agent to run away from a challenge. I broke the last distance between the both of us, smiling despite seeing the anger in his eyes. "I am sorry if I broke into your private space, I cannot help but admire the decorations in the office," I said, pointing to the direction of the designs on the wall. My lie did not seem to have impressed him, as his expression was unreadable. The tension in the room was palpable and I began to wonder what could be going through his mind. "I think you will find out that the real beauty is in the view." He says, pointing to the city skyline, which

Three days later… Emily POV "I was scared you were going to blow up your cover, so I had to send forces on your behalf," Adam said, as we walked through the cell rooms. "I have spent several years as an undercover agent and not once have I blown my cover, I don't intend to do it with the Moreno family," I replied. We stopped at the solitary confined cell and Adams turned to look at me, worry written all over his face. "Are you sure you can handle him? Dominic may be calm, but there is no saying what he is going to do to you after you betrayed his trust." I understood Adam's worrying statement, the Moreno family must be out there looking to kill me, which is why I need to get the information from Dominic about his activities before leaving the country. "You don't have to worry about anything Adams, I will be fine," I assured him. He nods his head in understanding and the cell door is opened. "Good luck." He commented, before leaving. Emily POVDuring the endless hours of my flight, I was angry at the fact that Dominic had questioned my sexual life in the presence of everyone who had most likely listened to our conversation in the cell room. Never had anyone disrespected me in several years than he had done that very moment. When I arrived at my apartment, I noticed a strange black van parked opposite my apartment. Before my journey to the prison, there had been no cars across the street, which makes this one very suspicious.Regardless, I walked into the living room but stopped when a masculine scent hit my nose and this caused me to be alert, realising someone had broken into my space. When I dropped my bag on the couch, I heard the sound of plates dropping to the floor in my kitchen and a deep voice cursing. I reached into my purse for a pepper spray, ready to take on the intruder. My feet touched the floor quietly, as I moved towards the kitchen. My heart was pounding as I did not know what to expect. I asked, still trying to make sense of the whole thing."Because I am Dominic Moreno, I can do anything I want." He boasted. "I will suggest that you seal your lips or you can be rest assured that Erick will take care of you." His voice was threatening. I looked up at Erick and he raised his shirt, revealing a gun underneath his trousers, causing me to get even more scared."Why are you doing this?" I asked."I am not going to hurt you, Emily, I just want to see you again. I am hoping to see you soon?” I tried to speak, but he cut the phone."He wants me to see him," I revealed this to Erick, who shrugged his shoulders."Whatever the boss wants, he gets." He said with a shrug. "No, your boss is a problem to the city, a hard criminal who thinks he can get away with everything and I am going to

Emily POV By the time I woke up from my sleep, I looked around realizing I was in an entirely different environment. The room was built on luxury and I could tell from the king-size bed I laid upon and the marble floor. Slowly my head is flooded with memories of all that had happened. My last moment with Dominic and how he had abducted me, after an invasion into his private cell. I got out of bed and walked out of the room, the long hallway which had several rooms side by side, didn't sit well with me because I wanted to speak to someone...anyone to say the least. While walking through the hallway, my ear perked up at the sound of laughter coming from a far corner of the hallway. I instinctively turned towards the path, where the voices were coming from. "You are still the same rusty gangster." Dominic's voice caught my attention by the time I reached the door, where the laughter was coming from. "Is this my new mom?" she asked in the sweetest way possible. I tried to look away as my cheeks turned red and hard. "No honey, but you'll like her," Dominic replied. The girl held out her hands, wanting me to take them. Dominic handed them to me and my whole heart melted. She was beautiful and her long, curly, thin hair and her eyes made her look like a princess. "What's your name?" she asked. "You can call me Emily, baby, how about you?" I asked. "Anita ." Although she was still toothy, the lack of teeth in the front row made her even more beautiful. "It seems like you like her," Dominic said. I was about to say something when the door opened again, revealing a woman. She had a piece of wood in her hand. "You idi

Dominic's POV The conversation between Emily and my mom was absurd. Although I had taken an interest in her, it appeared that my mom's countenance contradicted everything. The look of seriousness on his face showed me all that I needed to know, it appeared to be a serious problem."Tell Dennis to come and watch over both of them," I instructed while gulping down the rest of the drink. I will go and find some Mafia lord, who will be able to help me take down Maximus myself." He rose to his feet and adjusted his tuxedo. EMILY’S POV I paced in front of Dominic's door to his study. It was the sixth time today that I had come to check on him, but he didn't answer or let anybody in. This only heightened my worries because I worried that something may have happened to him in there. Lorenzo said that he requested to be alone and I wondered why. He had been fine in the morning when I had seen him… what could have gone wrong? “Dominic?” I said, knocking on the door again, but I got the same response—none. “He still isn't coming out?” Sofia asked, walking up to stand next to me. “No. He's not responding. What if something happened to him? What if he's dead? Oh, I'm so worried about him, I have the mind to break down the door.” I told her, I could hear my voice shaking with fear. “Try to calm down. Lorenzo said he wants to be alone so maybe you should just give him the space that he wants. He will come down when he is ready.” She said, But it became dark, and Dominic still wasn't out of his study. I show

DOMINIC'S POV Hours had passed since my phone call with Barry, and I was thinking about what to do about the situation. I went through the digital files to learn more about the man who was supposed to be my brother. There wasn't much information about him other than the fact that he had worked with my father for a short time, but I never met him. I could not understand how that was even possible. Emily eventually woke up from sleep and she found me in my study. She looked like she had just rolled out of bed and it warmed my heart that she came to look for me first. I shut off my laptop in a way that she didn't get suspicious. I didn't want her to even have a little bit of an idea that something was wrong. “You're up early.” She said as she walked into the office. I got up and walked the short distance over to her and pulled her into my arms. “Yeah. I didn't want to wake you up.” “Is everything okay?” She asked with an uncertain look on her face. DOMINIC'S POV The next morning, I woke up to the sun shining brightly into my eyes. Emily was sound asleep, her body curled into mine. For the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to listen to her breathe softly. But that peaceful feeling didn't last long. The buzzing from my phone forced me to peel my eyes open. The vibration was low, but it was persistent. I reached for the phone, careful not to wake Emily up. It was a message from Barry. “We found something. You really need to see this. Check your encrypted line.” Instead of responding to the message, I carefully left the bed. I didn't want to wake Emily up even by mistake because I knew that she really needed her sleep. I headed to the study and shut the door behind me before switching my laptop on. The screen came alive and I connected to the secure channel. Barry and Ezra's faces popped up instantly. “What is it?” I demanded. “We did scans on the footage from the attack in the estate in Ireland. Facial recognition w

DOMINIC'S POV The estate in Sydney was almost like a luxurious fortress. It was hidden in the hills and surrounded by thick, beautiful eucalyptus trees and placed at the back of miles of private land. The main house was modern—a smart house, it was beautifully decorated, and we made sure it was heavily secured with state-of-the-art security surveillance, motion sensors, and encrypted alarm systems; I got heavily armed men patrolling the grounds every time. We got them from a security agency with heavily trained men from the military. But still, my mind was not at ease. We had only been in Australia for a week, but I could not shake away the heaviness that was in my chest. Emily and the rest of the girls were trying to adjust. Emily was putting on a brave face for the girls and Sofia, but I could still feel the tension in her body and the worry in her eyes. The attack had left a mark on everybody. “Dominic, we have finished installing the facial recognition system on the Nor

Anita did the same thing. “I am so glad that you are okay,” Emily said I could hear the relief in her voice. “I am glad you are alright, too,” I told them. They were my major concern and the reason why I didn't bring the roof down on those motherfuckers. The rest of the day, I worked tirelessly to find out who had been responsible for the whole thing. I had a new threat, and this one was very bold. “Dominic, I am so worried,” Emily said as she sat down on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her close to me. I pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I'm worried too, especially since I do not know who this is.” “What's going to happen?” “We have to move. I can't keep you guys here and I have to be in Italy to deal with the Mendez issue. Imagine if I was not home when the attack happened.” “I am so glad you were here. I don't think I

I listened carefully for any sound that would indicate trouble, but the night was still, very quiet, but that in itself was troubling. Beside me, Emily shifted softly. I tucked a strand of hair behind her ears and pressed a kiss to her forehead before slipping out of bed. I walked over to the window, careful not to make a sound. I pulled the curtain back carefully and peered outside. The yard was glimmering with the moonlight. Lorenzo had men patrolling before everybody went to sleep, but I didn't see any of them, which only heightened my suspicion that something was definitely wrong. I pulled on a shirt and sweatpants and pulled out my gun from the drawer where I hid it. I walked through the dimly lit hallway. The lights were off just as I left them before we went to sleep, but when I got to the kitchen, I froze, the door was slightly ajar. I w

DOMINIC'S POVI woke up very early the next morning and woke Emily up too. I had a surprise for her. I knew it was a lot to keep her locked away in the house for so long so I decided to take her out to see the city. Nobody knew we were in Ireland so I knew it would be safe. I stared at her for a while before waking her up, mesmerised by the way the sun kissed her beautiful skin. I almost did not want to wake her up, but I had to. Gently, I pushed her hair back and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Wake up, my love,” I whispered. She stirred before her eyes finally fluttered open and she looked at me with a frown for disturbing her face. “Dominic, what's the time?” She asked with a groan. “Much too early for questions, my darling. Wake up, I have a surprise for you today. You have to get dressed.” I told her. She sat up and looked at me with narrowed eyes. “I hope this surprise does not involve any gunshots.” She warned. EMILY’S POV Dominic and I did not leave the room till it was time for dinner. We spent the time wrapped up in each other’s arms, talking, making love. It was as though we were in our own little bubble that we created for ourselves away from the rest of the world. It was as though the problems of the world ceased to exist—if only for a moment. It was beautiful and I wished it would never end. “We better get downstairs for dinner before everyone assumes that we are dead.” I told Dominic, making him to chuckle. He rubbed his nose against mine softly. “Do we have to? I never want to get out of this bed. To keep on worshipping your gorgeous body.” I giggled and pushed him away playfully. “Tempting as that sounds, we have to get down to dinner. I am hungry.” “Okay. Unlike his usual dark corporate attire, he was dressed in casual black slacks and a white polo tee shirt that hugged every inch of his sexy body. But very soon, he stood naked before me. His bulging shaft stood erect and begging for release. I wanted nothing more than to wrap my fingers around him and bring him to my mouth, but he was in total control of everything that was happening and I needed to follow his lead. “Spread your legs for me and touch yourself.” He orde
