Valencia turned to look at him with a mixture of anger and surprise.
Just how many things had he been hiding from her?
Dominic didn't turn around but kept looking outside the window into the forest.
“Are you sure that’s the case?” she asked him again.
“I think I am about 90% sure that it is the case, otherwise things won't add up.”
Valencia just looked at him in surprise. Had he been trying to hold it all together while she had been just focussed on the hycwens and dealing with her curse?
She didn't need to ask him what was the case, he continued with that faraway look in his eyes.
“When I had taken the kids to meet everyone, they had been greeted by everyone well. However, Mark seemed to have taken a particular interest in them. They were newly turned and scared and Mark seemed to treat them well. Hence, when I asked them if they would like to join a particular pack, they had chorused his name and
(Somewhere in the Burham mountains…) The next day the sun rose on the horizon but the sun rays couldn't reach the ground of the forest that was densely packed with tall trees that gave thick foliage. Plants struggled to shoot up to receive sunlight and the smell of soft grass spread through the air when a tall man stepped on it. He was being very slow and careful. His long silvery-white beard along with an equally pristine white robe was a stark contrast to the various shades of green and colorful flora everywhere around him. The man was probably a few thousand years old but barely looked to be seventy. There were fine wrinkles on his forehead and around his eyes but save that his skin looked taut and firm. His eyes darted from left to right as he looked around searching for what he had come for. It had been his third attempt and his patience was beginning to wear off. The first two times he had let the intruder leave but not now. The robe swished in
Freyge had been sitting in his small apartment that had a lingering smell of various herbs and potions. It just had two rooms, one where he slept and ate and did everything else apart from concocting potions. Not many werewolves loved to brew, in fact, it was considered a laughable matter to do anything apart from learning to fight and become future alphas of the pack. Freyge was different, he had never liked fighting. From a young age, his father had taught him the importance of knowing the abundant flora around them. The forest was a treasure trove according to his father and not being able to identify the precious herbs and plants was an utter waste. He had been an ordinary human who adored his father, who had been a botanist. So it was only natural for him to take a liking to the field. Now, he sat in his small apartment in the other room, tinkering with the flasks and beakers creating various potions and concoctions. The book he had been ca
Both men turned around to see Lucy who got a little nervous to see them suddenly throw their gazes at her. While Dominic only continued to look at her curiously, Freyge’s face lit up as if a light bulb went off. Hastily, he ran across the table to the far corner of the rows of shelves and reached for a glass jar placed behind several other jars and vials. After retrieving the jar, Freyge looked at it happily and ran towards the beaker ignoring alpha Dominic's questioning stare. He added just a twig of the wolfsbane roots from the jar and stood behind. For a moment, nothing happened and Freyge’s smile began to droop. He turned around and spoke to Dominic, “I am sorry Alpha. I don’t think this would work. I-”As he was speaking, there was a loud pop sound that made him turn around again to look at the beaker. He slowly approached the beaker and sure enough, the black gooey liquid had turned into a crystal clear liquid.F
Valencia sat on her couch with her head in her hand. There was a headache she couldn't get rid of and it was trying to tear her apart. The last few days had been hectic for her while battling the stupid curse in addition to Trecdor and Mark’s hurtful betrayal. He had lunged at her, tried to kill her while scheming against Dominic. Then there was Sarah whom she still hadn’t talked to. A part of her feared that Sarah would again run away from her if she were to go and meet her.The archon alpha…Valencia Raskin is afraid of a three-year-old girl and her niece. She chuckled humorlessly.Though she had killed him, the fact that he had willfully turned a few youngsters into werewolves by biting them had been him going against the rules set by her and the Coven. She was getting restless sitting on the couch doing nothing. She had to let her wolf out and vent out the frustration. Thus, she wasted no further time and shot out
“Archon…Archon”Valencia’s mind was reeling. She held to the tree for support and leaned onto it. She was afraid that she was losing her mind. There had never been a day when she had been unsure of herself, but now, when her mind was beginning to play tricks on her, now she was beginning to doubt herself.“Archon…archon”The voices grew louder, persistent. It was her pack members, trying to get her attention. She took a moment to take a few deep breaths and calm herself. There was no way she could let them see her like this; afraid and confused. She clenched her hand into a fist and punched the tree, the tiny jolt of pain momentarily making her forget everything else. It helped because when her pack had arrived, she looked her usual self. Her gamma, Nathan had just reached her followed by the other members, Julie and Clark who were close on his heels.“Yes?”Valencia asked them w
It was past sunset and the horizon was streaked with orange and red. Valencia changed into her human self before she walked in front of the garage. The garage was just on the outskirts of her empire’s border so she had no trouble approaching it in her white silvery wolf form. She hid behind a canopy of large trees and looked at the entrance. The large shutter was half open and she could see the rubber tires piled upon each other in one corner and a few tools scattered around on the ground. There was no sign of a human around. After ensuring that she wasn’t being watched, she slipped inside the garage. It was dark inside and the only source of light was the small slits of windows on the upper side of the walls that were tinted with soot. However, she had no problem seeing around due to her werewolf eyes that picked on every little thing right from the oil and grease splattered floor to the cans of screws and nails. The garage looked small from th
It was well past dark and there were only a few customers in Rugor’s place. Dominic hadn’t wanted to take the girl all the way to that place but Valencia had opined that it was the farthest from human activity and probably would make Jenny feel better. Thus, Dominic had brought a car because Jenny had been too weak to transform into her wolf again. Thus, the three found themselves huddled at a far corner table of the diner.Rugor, the ever-enthusiastic owner of the shabby place was more than excited to see the archon again. After the incident of last time, he had feared that they would never return again. However, seeing both her and alpha Castro made him feel happy.Determined to make up for the goof-up of last time, he made all the other customers leave and ensured that nobody except him would serve them.Jenny was eating heartily while Valencia and Dominic just watched her, trying to find a good opening to talk to each other. They could hav
Dominic turned around and asked her in a sharp intake of breath, “What?” His question made Valencia look at him in surprise. Jenny almost tried to fuse with the wall behind her and it was Valencia who patted her hand again to let her know that it was fine. Jenny shook her head, “Sorry, I’ve been jumpy lately.” Dominic neared the table and began hearing her intently. The cogs in his mind were working overtime. He tried to smile at her, “I’m sorry, but that name sounds familiar to me.” The girl just shrugged her shoulders, “Yeah, I never knew about it but it was the opioid chamber of the backstreets, well unofficial one. I never knew it myself until one day when I read something about it in the newspaper.” Valencia raised her eyebrows, “So…your boyfriend was doing drugs and told you that he had received some scholarship?” “Yeah. I should have been worried the first time he received such a massive amount of money. I blindly believed him.”
Valencia let out a growl on hearing that. “How could you, Trecdor? She is a little girl…all these days…I have been living with the guilt of scaring her and it was you all along?” Trecdor spat at her words in disgust, “Trecdor? Do you dare call me by my name? Where is your respect for the Coven's head?” Valencia meanwhile kept glaring at him, “You lost it when you sent an untrained, tainted werewolf after my niece, you don’t have the right to that seat after what you have been doing to the humans…” Dominic tried to mind link her, “Keep him busy talking, I’ll try to untie the knots holding me to this filthy pillar.” She was startled to hear his voice in her head all of a sudden but Trecdor only took it as the reaction to his betrayal. To goad her further, he added, What use is she to me? Well, if she grows up and is capable of birthing a wolf then she may be of some use…if not, she is a burden on our community…like yo
After ensuring that the car was safely hidden out of view, both of them stepped out of it and peered through the gate.Luckily nobody had come running towards the gate when it had creaked loudly. So they believed that it could either mean that whoever was in charge didn’t think that anybody would show up or if they did then they wouldn’t walk out alive. After ensuring that nobody was around using their acute sense of hearing and smell, the two slowly edged inside. There was a lot of abandoned stuff littering around the open space so it proved to be effective in hiding. Thus, they used the empty drums and stuff lying around to hide them while carefully walking inside. The two werewolves kept inching towards the entrance that they hoped would be heavily guarded or at least tripped with wires. But to their surprise, again nothing obstructed their way. It was strange and both of them merely glanced at each other before walking
Running towards him, she turned him around and before he could react, she pulled him by the collar and placed her lips on his. Daniel had not expected her to have such a reaction and he was startled for a moment but soon he gave in to the feeling. He was afraid that she would shun him and was only around him for old time’s sake. The fact that she took the initiative to kiss him dispensed all the worries from his head. His arms went around her and he lifted him from the ground while kissing her back. Jenny smiled and a chuckle escaped her lips to feel him be so elated. His eyes were shining with joy and she could also see a tear or two though he was trying hard to not show it. “I love you” The words escaped his lips automatically and Jenny’s eyes mirrored his emotions. “I have always loved you, Danny,” Jenny replied and the two smiled again. “Now, put me down…” Daniel who was lost in the sensation of
As she kept thinking about this stuff, her feet automatically carried her to the headquarters. She walked inside the headquarters, climbed the stairs, and got to the upper floor where Daniel was sitting on the chair. He looked weak but not as exhausted as before. The guards stationed outside the room bowed their heads at her. “Has he eaten something?” One of the werewolves who were standing away from her bowed his head and answered, “Yes archon, we gave him food and he finished that reluctantly. In fact, he has been asking to meet you. But, we didn’t inform you because we thought it was too early.” She nodded her head in acknowledgment and went inside. Daniel was in a fresh set of clothes, probably Gerald had given her a new set. He even looked to have bathed and not as harrowed as the night before. Daniel had a notebook and a pen in front of him and appeared to be scribbling something. Seeing her enter the room, he got up from his seat and bo
The voice pained him and the icy tone with which she said that to him made him feel like he was punched in the gut. “Why are you doing this?” He asked in an anguished voice. She was still pinned to the bed and his hands were still holding hers. He tightened his hold on her and bent down again to say, “You don’t really mean that, you are saying that to get back at me.” Valencia kept looking at him with the same steady gaze, her eyes didn’t even falter for a second. She was proud of not giving away the roller coaster of emotions coursing through her. “If you think so…” Calhoun’s eyes grew darker and she hoped that he would get away from her the minute he realized that she wasn’t joking. However, he did just the opposite. Instead of getting away from her, he bent down and gave her the steamiest kiss ever. In one swift motion, he put his hands around her, pulled her in a tight embrace, and began eating her lips, devouring her
“Well let’s say fate decided to meddle with her life. She got separated from her parents and had to live on her own….but….she was a strong girl. As such, she decided to not let destiny decide the course of her life, thus she fought against all odds and became a queen from an orphan.” She gave a dry chuckle at that, “you make it look so effortless...” He responded, “I know it isn’t, but I didn’t want to go into the details of the pain and suffering of the girl, she has had her fill.” Valencia closed her eyes and replied, “Hmm…so, where is she now?” Calhoun looked at her face that was shining with innocence and pain. He wanted to kiss her so bad but didn’t want to take advantage of the situation. Thus, he answered, “She is ruling her kingdom all by herself.” “Oh, she doesn’t have a king?” “She could but she doesn’t need anyone I think.” “Well, everybody needs someone at one point or the other…” The words had tumbl
The word made her momentarily forget what she had been about to say. Nobody had called her queen before. Blinking her eyes she said while fumbling, “Yes…I am..” Though her heart had skipped a beat at that, she continued to look at him with defiance. Calhoun closed the distance between them and stood extremely close to her, their faces inches away from each other. “What wouldn’t have happened if I had stayed away?” He asked her again, slowly and steadily and she realized that he had understood that she had not implied the incident with the blue werewolf. A small part of her heart was amazed to see how he had clearly understood her but the other was still fluttering at the way he had called her queen. It felt oddly nice to hear him call her a queen. Scolding herself, she tried to get a grip on herself as even her wolf seemed to be confused now. Earlier, she had loved Dominic but now feeling what Valencia was feeling made her unsu
Dominic muttered and turned into his wolf. Valencia got up from the ground as the rogue motioned ahead and raised his hand to smack her again. But before he could do this, Dominic jumped on him, sinking his teeth into the werewolf’s arm. In normal circumstances, it would have sliced off the hand as an alpha’s bite was extremely powerful but no such thing happened now. The blue werewolf was more powerful than the alpha but it seemed to lose its mind from time to time. It was as if periodically it was being remote controlled by someone else and just moments of self control were granted to it before it was taken over by that other mysterious controller again. Dominic looked at his beta who got the message and quickly as his pack members to ensure that a stampede doesn’t occur and that everybody is taken to a safe place while they dealt with this rogue. Gerald and Patrick began guiding the frightened crowd, taking them away from the battle
“I kept telling myself that it will be okay, that I could always walk away and return the money if I didn’t like what was going on…” Daniel trailed off and his eyes automatically went to Jenny whose face was almost on the verge of crying. She couldn’t keep it together anymore. His face crumpled to see her like that and Dominic patted her head and pulled her in a hug to calm her down. Daniel felt relieved to see that neither of the alphas was hurting her even when they knew that she was their leverage against them. Gerald walked up to him and offered him a glass of water when the rogue moved his hands to his throat and touched the Adam’s apple. After emptying the water glass, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and continued, “I was taken in and asked to do some mandatory health check-ups that they assured me and the batch of people who had signed up with them…we were taken in a lab of sorts and asked to sleep on a table to take some scan…I do
