A strained but obviously fake cough from Sofia brought River and Gonzalo out of their bubble of affection. Gonzalo released River from his embrace, while she blushed slightly with embarrassment.

Right. This family needed their help.

River turned her head to the father, who looked at her and Gonzalo with curiosity. "Your children said you were attacked and your wife was taken away. Please, could you shed more light on that?"

River saw the myriad of emotions flashing through the man's face. He bent his head slightly, caressing the heads of both his children who were still clung tightly to him like they were scared he'd die if they let go.

"It is obvious that somehow, you saved my life." The man's gaze traveled around the room before landing on River's face, his voice full of gratitude. "Thank you. Thank you so much for sparing my children the harsh fate of living without their father. I am forever indebted to you."
