“No,” the word resounded in my head over and over again. It took me a while to register that everyone was standing there.

The maids, the guard I had ordered and Elias who had just walked back in. The shock on his face was enough evidence that he had heard his response.

It was enough to convince me that I wasn't imagining things. Somehow she had gathered the audacity to tell me ‘no’ and it was something that was beyond my comprehension.

Her expression was neutral, there was no trace of fear in her eyes, there was no evidence of the panic that I had seen and somehow I was forced to consider the fact that I might be imagining things.

I grabbed her wrist and I tugged her towards me not so gently. She showed no sign of pain or discomfort. Infact, she showed nothing at all.

“I'd be careful if I were you and think about the consequences of what you're doing,” I narrowed my eyes on her. I knew that we were under the observation of everyone.
