Chapter 3

Author: Margot
I stumbled away from my in-laws' room in panic.

It wasn't until I arrived at my bedroom that I realized my face was tear-stained. My body was shaking like a leaf.

The conversation I overheard just now had left a devastating impact on me. My fiancé was the one next to Callie right now. I never knew Andre had had a crush on Callie from a young age and that they were childhood sweethearts.

He wasn't that different from Easton after all. Their true love was Callie.

I couldn't accept the fact that he was the real culprit behind my disfiguration.

When I was disfigured, I had endured insults on my appearance and felt too ashamed to look into the mirror. I grappled with social anxiety to the point where it was almost impossible to get out of the house.

All the suffering I had been put through was because they cared more about Callie and wanted to stop me from marrying Easton.

To think I had been grateful to Andre for saving me from the fire, and swore not to let him down!

But the truth was very different. I had mistaken the devil for my angel and risked everything to give birth to our pup.

I helplessly curled up in bed in a fetal position, arms wrapped around my cold body.

My wolf let out a devastating cry.

"Andre, I no longer love you…"

The next day, I left my bedroom looking pale. I found Andre cautiously feeding Callie in the dining room. He cut the steak into bites and fed it to Callie with a fork.

It was such a romantic and loving scene. Andre had once fed me in the same way, but he was now doing it for another woman.

The sight of them leaning against each other made my heart ache.

I bit my lip, telling myself not to cry again or pay Andre any attention, as he no longer wanted to be my fiancé.

Callie was the first to notice my arrival. She seemed gleeful when she noticed my upset expression. As if showing off, she fed a slice of steak to Andre as well.

He ate it with a doting smile.

Such affection was reserved only for me in the past.

How ironic! My fiancé made up a massive lie and was now being lovey-dovey with his future sister-in-law.

Feeling painfully numb, I couldn't help but let out a loud sob. It was only then that Andre noticed I was standing at the door.

"Jane, you're here! Take a seat. We have your favorite dishes today…"

Andre walked over to me under Callie's menacing glare. He attempted to give me a morning kiss just like before.

I lowered my gaze and took a step backward, quietly shunning him.

"Easton, you're my brother-in-law," I reminded Andre with much pain. "I don't think we should be this intimate."

Andre froze as if taken aback by my response.

Caressing my belly, I sat at the table and silently ate my breakfast. I had made up my mind—I wanted to feed myself with nutritious food. I would get an abortion and nurse my body back to health.

Since Andre so wanted to protect Callie, she should carry his pup. I'd let go of him.

After I was done eating, I looked up and wiped the corners of my lips. It was then he caught a glimpse of my pale cheeks and reddened eyes.

Frowning, he looked sorry for me. "Jane, I know you feel upset after Andre's death, but you have to manage your grief for your health. I'll officially assume the legacy for your family and Callie's family soon. By then, I will be able to take care of you."

Callie immediately chimed in, "Well, we all know you are desperate for love, but Easton will only take care of you temporarily. Easton and I are very much in love; I can't possibly share our love with you. I hope you appreciate what you have. Don't covet anything that doesn't belong to you."

I fixed my gaze on Andre, who looked troubled but nonetheless nodded in agreement with Callie's remark.

While speaking, Callie rushed into Andre's arms with a mock-guilty expression.

"Jane, I'll apologize to you. I was being rash a few days ago; I shouldn't have kicked you on the belly. But you know, it's hard for me to stay calm when it concerns my beloved boyfriend."

Her body trembled lightly, attracting all of Andre's attention.

"Callie, are you feeling unwell again? Shall I ask the best Healer to take a look?"

She gasped, "But the service of the best Healer is expensive! From what I heard, a treatment session costs the same as buying a car!"

Andre beamed at her. "It's alright. You're worth it."

If only they were Easton and Callie, I would give them my blessings with a smile. I'd be envious of their relationship.

But that man, who willingly spent a fortune on Callie, was my fiancé in reality.

My heart was shattered when I witnessed their exchange.
